The Hotel is exactly the way it is described on the website “Surrounded by a beautifully landscaped park of 10 acres, on the shores of Lake Geneva, the luxurious 5-star La Reserve Genève Hotel & Spa offers you indoor and outdoor pools and 4 restaurants and a bar”. A visitor cannot help but notice, a number of supercars i.e. Ferraris and other exotics on display in front of the Hotel entrance true to type with the image of “La Reserve” as a place for the rich and famous. My first visit to the bar was exactly what one would expect from such an establishment. The waiters and waitresses were fast on their feet, very polite and accommodating. The coffee was exceptionally good, which is not usually the case in big hotels. A small but interesting menu with reasonably priced tapas was rushed to my table. I told the waiter that I would be coming back in a couple of days for a drink and the tapas. He recommended Thursday because there would be live music and that the bar would be hopping with people. For the purpose of clarity a distinction can be drawn between restaurant service and waiter performance. Excellent service, in my vocabulary, implies that the quality of a product offered by an establishment be it food or drink is commensurate to the on the job performance of the waiter/waitress. However, it is entirely possible that a customer is attended by an outstanding waiter/waitress but gets served a terrible meal or vice versa. When I arrived early evening that Thursday, a waiter asked me what I would like to drink. I told him that I would do so after looking at the small tapas menu. Much to my surprise I was given a “new and very different menu” in which there was a notable increase in prices. The waiter explained “that the new menu was the inspiration of a new chef who has just arrived”. When I asked the bartender for list of drinks he did not bring one but said instead “We can fix you any drink you want”. I thought not having such a list was a rather odd occurrence for a hotel of such caliber. Be it as it may, I ordered a nonalcoholic ice tea and a tapas styled Humus from the “new menu”. The 16,00 CHF ice tea was very good and refreshing but the Humus was miserably tasteless and watery. When I complained to the bartender about it he took it back, no questions asked, and assured me that he would soon be offering something else as a replacement. That something else never came. While waiting uncomfortably silent for the promised replacement the evening musical program went on. It turned out to be a disappointment thanks to a female singer in really poor voice. Fearing that the avalanche of the evening`s bad experiences would continue I asked the waiter for the check to speed up my departure. Unsurprisingly, it was only then that the manager (Juliet) came to my table to ask whether everything was all right, something she should have done after the first sign of discomfort with the Humus. She listened carefully to what I had to say and was mildly apologetic about what transpired that evening. The Humus was taken off the check.…
Beautiful location with first class services in any respect: cozy rooms, excellent food, greatest spa (cannot think of any better ones), extremely friendly staff. Particularly in times of Covid19 a true gem made for relaxation and pampering.
The staff are pro and make you feel very welcome. The food is a delight. The beautiful setting is conviently located so close to Gva airport, yet the place is quiet with a secluded feel. Highly recommended!
I booked a table in the Loti restaurant for a wedding anniversary celebration. I had booked a table on the terrace and we were told it wasn’t available. In fact it was, but these things can happen. Then we waited half an hour for our drink order to arrive and for someone to take a food order; again, these things can happen. Then we waited an hour between the starter course and main course. It wasn’t a busy night, but even so no one came to reassure us or apologize, even when we had politely inquired twice after 50 minutes if our food might be arriving. These things shouldn’t happen. Eventually we gave up and asked for the bill, they just acted as if this was perfectly normal. No one apologized, the extremely unpleasant waitress just silently brought the bill and stood over us while we paid, without so much as a word until a very awkward and insincere apology when we pointed out that this was rude. We left hungry, and explained what had happened to the manager on leaving because we didn’t want others to have the same experience we had had Perhaps this hotel/restaurant deals with difficult and wealthy people so frequently that they have lost the ability to tell the difference between handling a demanding client and treating people in an appalling way. I’m confident we fell Into the latter category. In summary, don’t go here if you are the kind of person who thinks going out to an expensive restaurant for a treat is worthy of basic common courtesy by the service staff. We had really looked forward to the evening and it was a depressing night…
We never expected such a beautiful place at the lake of Geneva. The African lodge inspired interior is great and all staff are very friendly and helpful. A special thank you to Ms. Kelly from the Front Desk for her support with the extension of our stay. What is unique is the complimentary boat transfer to the city center, which makes it super convenient and fun to get there. Despite the current Covid-19 situation, we felt super safe as inside, everyone was wearing a mask and the hotel took all safety measures. Very good breakfast buffet with a big choice and wonderful view from the terrace to the Mont Blanc Mountain and Lake. You really get excellent value for the price (e.g. free parking!). We really want to come back to this beautiful hotel again.
