Lovely place! We had nice time (except the weather was not good. Probably the worst weather at Canaria islands :-D )! Accomodation was very nice - the outdoor area with swimmingpool, deck chairs, outdoor seating, fontain and cute lights during night! And the location, the town Bueanivista! Its not tourist hell like Hotel resorts in Los Cristianos etc. - small cozy town, on one side of the mountain, on the other sea! Hiking, swimming, enjoying sea and the banana plantations everywhere (bananabananabanana :-D ) Small con: because the weather was chilly, there was cold inside the room, so we need to use heater and on all day!

We spent a week at El Tejado in a nice apartment, but when used during winter it needs heating in the livingroom. Bath was OK, nice big towels. A bootle of wine was waiting for us and local bananas. 😊 Marisol, the host, is very kind and caring. Unfortunally we don't speak much Spanish, but with smiles and a few words we got along. We had her brunch every day, delicious and with lots of proteins vitamins etc so we hardly needed lunch. Buenavista is not much 'alive' in februar, but it's a fine place for going into the landscape around and to the other small towns along the northern coast. Especially Garachicco we can recommended for the coast, restaurants etc. A nice quiet holiday - 5 stars if the floors etc weren't so cold. Our small terrasse was so nice in the sun on the good days and with view to the mountains.

The place, the people, everything... except the weather. Too bad we chose the wrong time of the year (winter) to visit, because we had clouds all 4 days that we were there, and strong winds, though that is not unusual in Tenerife. And in winter the north is often cloudy. The apartments, the garden, the pool, all very lovely. And so is the lady of the house. She only speaks Spanish, so we had to use our imagination and the smattering of Spanish and Portuguese that we have, and lots of gestures, but we got by. She makes an impressive breakfast, too copious for us, but delicious. She will give you bananas when going on a trip, and there was a welcome bottle of red wine waiting at the apartment. While there, I would recommend a visit to Masca, the drive through the Teno mountains is truly awesome and breaht taking (and hair raising at times). Buenavista is not much of a town, but we liked to have a Ron Caramelo at the Café Central in the middle of the village at the foot of the church.
