We stayed for two weeks as a family of 4 (teenagers 15 & 18) for our 6th CP holiday. The stale air in the cottage was removed by opening the doors for 30 minutes. Covid-19 has the following restrictions - a one way system in the Dome and Aqua Mundo. The jacuzzis in Aqua Mundo were closed and there is a queuing system for the rapids. I felt the restricted access to the rapids was an improvement as it stopped it from becoming overrun with people. Aqua Mundo was less busy due to the booking system and only having two 2 hour sessions per stay period.

Whilst we were in The Netherlands instances of Covid-19 were low compared to England and there were a lot less instances of people out and about wearing masks. In the Dome there are regular hand sanitiser stations which were being used.

There are number of gates leading out of the site which are very good for walks and cycle rides.

Activities are booked up quickly and it is advisable to book as soon as you can. We used our Center Parcs account for most of the bookings including the restaurants,

We ate in Evergreens, Fuego, Snacks & Nonna's. The prices are on the high side (Euro exchange rate is not kind) and the food is all good. The range of food at the all you can eat buffet at Evergreens is reduced. But they offer as much as you can drink from beer, wine and soft drinks whilst you are eating for about 90 minutes.

For the activities, indoor badminton and table tennis were fine, the outdoor tennis courts can have a odd bounce, the Aqua Park was good fun, High Adventure challenging, there are no outdoor table tennis tables, we changed one of the bikes as its brakes were not 100%, staff in the cycle centre were helpful and changed the bike with no fuss. They also gave us a free map of local cycle routes.
Staff on site spoke a good level of English and were generally very pleasant and helpful in dealing with a challenging situation

I have never been in a center Parcs, so I didn’t know that the price doesn’t include almost any amenities. You have to your ow:
Toilet paper (one roll in arrival buy the rest)
Soap
Towels
All theses things you have to schlep toget or you bring with you like a campsite.
We also got the luxe breakfast, which turned out to be a box of groceries, and I thought it was a made breakfast, not a carton of eggs and packages but no salt and pepper.
It wasn’t very clear to a center parcs novice that this is how it is. Overall te staff is super friendly and the cottage was roomy and comfortable (outdated but it was fine) just don’t get the fancy breakfast! Unless you want to cook.. and bring the rest

Had a fantastic time at Het Meerdal last week. We stayed in a VIP lodge which had been recently renewed to a great standard (the outside of the accommodation has a Butlins chalet look). Sauna and jacuzzi bath was very welcome and plenty of plug sockets and USB's strewn about which our older teenage children appreciated! The array of activities was excellent and the aqua mundo, despite some improvement work going on, was clean and well equipped. We went with the half board option and the quality of food was of a good standard and a reasonable price with refillable beer or wine on tap. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and spoke fantastic English, nothing was too much trouble and they went above and beyond.
We will certainly visit again especially as its value for money puts it as an attractive option compared to the British sister company.

First visit to any Center Parc for us. We arrived with a huge expectation after hearing great things about the UK sites. Sadly our first impression was not good when seeing the accommodation blocks, which look tired and architecturally challenged. We booked a ‘Comfort Cotttage’ which was basic, poorly laid out with toilet opening onto kitchenette, and stank of stale cigarette smoke thanks to its previous occupants. Initial impression could have been lifted had the beds been made with some bed sheets so we didn’t see the stained pillows. Sadly though, bed sheets are not included in the price as we found out, so we had to visit reception and hire some for 38 Euros. Always a shame to kick off on a negative.

And so onto what’s really great about this place - nature. It’s set in the woods, with nature in abundance. We had a peacock roosting in a nearby tree, there were visits to our terrace from red squirrels, a hedgehog, we saw wild bunnies, and a herd of white deer patrol the park. The site is pretty much car-free and so our 8 and 11 year olds could enjoy unlimited freedom to explore on their bikes. Cycling in the local area is awesome. Flat, safe and family friendly. Swimming in the lake on site is at your own risk, and our 8 year old did get cut with glass on two occasions.

In conclusion, we did warm to this place once we had got over our initial disappointment - you have to accept it for what it is because it’s less than half the cost of the UK Center Parcs.

COVID
We’re dropping 1 star here. Despite compliance signage and stickers, there was no social distancing whatsoever adhered to, or being enforced by staff. Equipment not being wiped down between guests, eg pedal boats. Family visits to the supermarket rather than just one member as requested. You will not see a single mask. We saw no cleaning being done at all, never mind extra cleaning that we have become accustomed to seeing in the UK now.
Also, the indoor water park (Aqua Mundo) was open, but limited. For our 7 day stay, we were only allowed 4 visits to the pool which was a massive disappointment to the kids.

Dear 329rover, Thank you for taking the time to write an extensive review. The cottages will be renovated on the inside. We have indeed installed signage and it is also up to our guests to abide by the rules. In the Netherlands there is no mouth guard duty which is why you have not seen it. The colleagues of the housekeeping have all rounds to disinfect the contact points. Because we have set time windows we are able to let all our guests swim. There may only be a certain number of guests at the same time in the Aqua Mundo. We hope to see you again at our park. Kind regards, Team The Meerdal

We booked het Meerdal holiday center for July 5th to 12th 2021 after a terrible year of Corona virus.
We booked a comfort cottage house because it was presented beautifully on the website when we were searching a place to go to with the kids. When we arrived at the cottage and entered the cottage, we were immediately disappointed by the setting inside the cottage. We could hardly move freely inside. Small rooms, a small living with a small table, small bathroom without even basic things. A kitchen where there was no place to put your groceries and other stuff. It was very unpractical. When we were cooking, we had to put pans and cooking appliances literally on the ground to make space. Outside an old dirty table. Windows without mosquito nets. Flies were present inside rooms in the evening when the windows were open.
It seemed tht there was WiFi present in the cottage but it was a disaster because we could not get connection and had to pay 40 euro extra for 1 week Internet package at the reception. It was really exaggerated...... when we even bought the Internet package, we could not watch films on TV via chormecast because TV did not support the Internet connection or Internet connection was not allowed via their server.
To make the long story short, it was not worth of the money we had paid for this holiday center. Het Meerdal.

We just came back from a 5 day stay with our two teenage girls. We had a fabulous time and like many other Brits have stated, this is much cheaper than the UK sites. The drive from Calais was quite long but good roads and chances to stop off along the way in Brugge or Oostende break up the journey. If you are expecting luxury accommodation then do not come here. The cottage we stayed in was a VIP one and it was really small and very basic. All very functional but no frills at all. The outdoor space has a table and chairs and a nice BBQ. The setting is lovely and all centred around the lake. We did plenty of activities but again you need to pre book these. High ropes was fun and the climbing wall but both did not last long. The aquapark on the lame was superb and good value for money. We also rented a pedalo and used this to swim in the lake. They should create a bigger area for swimming as the lake is clean and warm. We had a takeaway pizza which was nice but we made all the rest of our food. We went to the Jumbo supermarket before arriving to stock up and that was brilliant for fresh food and meat. The swimming pool with the restrictions was amazing. Again, not as big or exciting as some of the UK sites but great fun for two hours and due to COVID was less crowded. It would’ve been good to book more than twice during our stay. The best part of this trip was the service. Everyone was lovely and helpful, the Whatssapp service was superb and we used this a few times. It really felt quiet at the parc and this was lovely as we were trying to avoid too much contact. We also visited Toverland on our last day and that was superb fun and good value. Overall we had a fabulous time and would come back but more than likely to try one of the different sites in Holland or Belgium

We are veterans of family holidays at UK Center Parcs for many years but the cost of those keeps going up while the service keeps going down so we felt it was time to try Europe again
1st impressions were fantastic, check in was a breeze with no queue and we were able to head straight to our VIP lodge.
This was a great lodge right on the southern edge but close enough to walk/cycle/golf cart (yes that’s right you can hire golf carts) to the centre.
Lodge was spotless and very well equipped.
The Park itself has so much to do, all activities are reasonable in cost and the swimming was great if a little smaller than UK parks. The new kids section was a particular highlight. Be warned though day visitors are allowed in European parks so we had to share with rowdy school trips each afternoon that we went.
We also tried, bowling, mini golf and high wire adventure which we loved.
Restaurants were also great with a good selection of choices however as we were in a VIP lodge we had rolls delivered every morning which was more than enough for a lunch and dinner.
The dome has resident Coy, Parakeets and parrots along with lots of other animals to spot.
It also has a great soft play for the kids to burn energy at no extra cost.
The park is also close enough for you to cycle to another CP (Limburg Peel) either via the paths in the reserve that’s joined to Het Meerdal or in the safe and well maintained cycle paths on the roads around the site.
Overall we cannot wait to go back to here or another park in Europe as you get the full CP experience at a fraction of the price compared to the UK.

Myself, my partner, our two kids and another family booked a 8 bed lodge for a week in August at Het Meerdal. We cannot praise the site enough for the entire site. The lodge was immaculate on our arrival and very well equipped for the week we were present. The site itself was beautiful, the wildlife certainly was a draw and the facilities across the board were fantastic.

As a family holiday with friends, if you wanted to eat out every evening (which we did not on this occasion) there is enough of a range in restaurants and cafe's to keep a family content throughout. The pricing is as to be expected in a site such as this, you are a captive audience to a certain extent so don't expect aldi prices, although there is an Aldi's 10 minutes away.

The staff throughout the week were fantastic with the kids (6, 9, 12 and 14) my only comment would be that this site is probably more catered for younger children (maybe unto 9-10 ash dependant on their previous outgoing pursuits) but the range of activities and facilities available are fab, you would be hard pushed to find as good here in the UK i would imagine.

All in all a fantastic holiday, an easy drive from Dunkeque and back. Lots to see and do in the immediate area including Venlo, a trip in Germany and Toverland just down the road. Fantastic experience and would defiantly book to go again.

I was nervous after reading some of the reviews but it was perfect for us! We were travelling with a 9 and 7 year old who loved everything. We hired bikes and stayed in a vip cottage which has recently been renovated to a nice standard. It did get hot this week though so we went out and bought 2 fans as you can’t hire them from center parcs. The jacuzzi bath and sauna was fab!

We did lots of the activities inc inflatable water park on the lake and it’s not that expensive. The activities are cheaper there than the uk.

Make sure you visit Irrland amusement park (about 35 minute drive away in Germany). This was by far our best day and only €10 a person, absolute bargain and so much to see. We also visited toverland which was good. we also visited ABC restaurant close by which was nice food.

We had a fantastic week here and enjoyed by everyone. Lots to do and see, and the park is really lovely. Pool is a little smaller than those at home but still has the famous outdoor rapids and lots of other water pools to enjoy.

We will certainly come back.

We are a family of 4 and stayed in a comfort cottage 490 during May half term.
On arrival we found the process easy to follow in terms of obtaining our wristbands at reception and parking up until our room was ready at 4pm.

We had some lunch at the Grand Cafe and I’d say this was the biggest disappointment of our stay. The food we ordered was very expensive for what it was. We don’t mind paying good money for decent food but this was not good quality food and over cooked. My son ordered the burger and it was one of those really cheap ones you would expect to see at a carnival! My chicken schnitzel was burned and my daughter’s fish and chips was disappointing also. The fish was grey and watery. Certainly wasn’t worth €70 we paid!
Anyway, you live and learn! So we decided not to eat out on site again.

We headed to AquaMundo next to see what that was like and it didn’t disappoint. There was some good rapids and my children loved racing each other down. There was also a slide and a jet pool to play in along with waves in the pool. We were told in advance that the out door hot tub would be closed for part
of our stay and were each given €10 compensation. i think this was very generous and the money was put towards some activities for the children. It didn’t spoil our stay at all.

After our swim we went to see our cottage. It was modern , well equipped (with the exception of towels) and was reasonably clean. We assumed towels would be included so were a little disappointed to see there were not any. Thankfully we had brought some pool towels with us so had to make do with them.

We saw lots of wildlife during our stay including white deer, ducks, geese, rabbits etc .
One very annoying aspect of the trip was the amount of mosquitoes! I guess it’s to be expected in wooded areas near water but there seemed to me lots of them in the cottage and I got eaten alive!
Overall we had a lovely stay here and would definitely visit another centre parcs in the Netherlands again. We don’t often visit the same place twice but I’d recommend Het Meerdal to others. there

Thank you for sharing your experience during your stay at Het Meerdal during the May half term, Lisa. We're glad to hear that the check-in process with the wristbands and parking was smooth. We're sorry to learn that your experience at the Grand Café was disappointing, particularly regarding the quality of the food in relation to the price. We appreciate your feedback and will pass it on to our catering team for improvements. We're delighted that you and your family enjoyed Aqua Mundo, with its exciting rapids and other pool activities. It's also good to hear that the compensation for the closed outdoor hot tub was well-received and didn't affect your enjoyment. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the absence of towels in the cottage. We will ensure clearer communication regarding this for future guests. It's great to know that the cottage met your expectations with its modern amenities and that you enjoyed seeing the wildlife during your stay. We understand that the presence of mosquitoes can be bothersome, especially in wooded areas near water. We will look into ways to minimize this issue in the future. We're pleased that despite these points, you had a lovely time and are considering visiting another Center Parcs in the Netherlands. We appreciate your recommendation of Het Meerdal and look forward to welcoming you again in the future. 😍 The Center Parcs team
