Holiday advertised as adults only but children were in the pool and running round, room was standard with sea view, very basic, no kettle or tea making facilities, only 4 coat hangers in the room, housekeeping service hit and miss, air conditioning unit flooded balcony, you couldn't sit on balcony due to the hot air coming out of the unit, ants everywhere, maintenance was very poor, pool bar not open in the day was told to go down to the beach bar if we wanted a drink! staff seemed very stressed, overheard manageress saying look at the list of complaints we've got, she couldn't understand the problem said she didn't know what was wrong with holiday makers as you only sleep in the room! First night we had caraffe of wine at 6.50 euro, the following day the price went up to 9 euro, along with the coffee going up by 1 euro to 3 overnight, sunbeds falling apart, kept finding bolts and nuts on the ground, we only saw the pool cleaned once in 2 weeks, on the plus side the air con worked well and the shower was good. Breakfast was basic and same every day with cold fan blowing on the hot food and notices not to put bread in the toaster.. only ate there one night had the buffet meal @ 15 euro's pp, food was okay but luke warm...wouldn't recommend, we spent our holiday in the Porto Koukla hotel next door, meals were good especially the buffet at night and cheaper @10 euro's pp and now the excellent part... the little supermarket attached to the hotel excellent service, the gentlemen who owned lent us a kettle and couldn't do enough for you.

Beautiful tropical place, amazing staff So we visited Gloria Maris between 30th June & 7th July this year. Where to start we have had an amazing time. The hotel yes it a little further out than some but the views are amazing and you can walk down the beach into laganas in around 30-40 minutes. Anna before we arrived made sure our room was the right one we had booked and made sure we were happy. The staff on reception and at the supermarket on site were all very helpful there was none of ‘we can’t do or we can’t help etc’ they all went the extra mile when we needed something. We ate in the Kadimor restaurant 2 of the nights amazing food beautiful the chicken fillet would highly recommend and chefs mousakka! The pool bar we spent a lot of time there the staff were amazing Labros looked after us most of the week through the day he is extremely helpful & polite, we spent most of our evenings sat there chatting to him, he definitely makes that pool bar special. Eldi the other member of staff who waited on us and worked behind the bar was also amazing we’ve made a good friend in him too! If you want a nice quiet relaxed holiday stay at Gloria Maris we would love to visit again.

After reading the horror reviews on Tripadvisor i was very weary with booking this hotel. But after doing thorough research i decided this is the best hotel for me and my boyfriend to spend our holiday in Greece I booked this hotel for the private beach, beach bar and the fact that no children are allowed. I was not disappointed. I booked through a big travel agency and ordered the superior double room with sea view. From 8 AM when we arrived until 14 when the room was ready we went to to beach and enjoyed lunch there and drinks. The beach was not crowded at all - barely a few people on the sunbeds and even less in the water. The beach is sandy, the water is very shallow until about 100 meters or more so you can enjoy relaxed swimming and snorkeling. The room, although called superior, was not superior at all - it was a basic 3 star room - with all that you needed. Smart TV(connected it to my netflix account), air conditioning, large balcony, safe, fridge. No kettle or coffee making possibilities like it was advertised by the big travel agency. Asked at the reception and the receptionist was very nice. She tried explaining that there is no kettle at all in any of the rooms and she offered to bring me one for the next day if needed. She really went out of her way for me. The manager of the hotel was also there and she was incredibly friendly and helpful. As other reviewers have complained before, the shower drain was clogged when we arrived. I immediately reported it to the reception and she called someone to have it fixed. It took 2 hours of going back and forth to the reception to ask about the handyman and when he will arrive to have it fixed but even with my constant complaints the receptionist and the staff were always very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed their attitude. The room was cleaned every day, fresh towels each day. I really couldn't ask for more. There was a supermarket downstairs with good prices for the island and we could always buy water or some icecream. This is not a luxury hotel - at least the superior double room with sea view is not. But what is lacks in luxury it makes up for in the staff's support. You have a basic room with everything you need (including Air conditioning which is a godsend) and a wonderful beach to relax. We visited 6 other beaches on the island in our stay, we always came back and loved the Gloria Maris one the most. Shaded sun beds - cocktail bar and food next to it and no crowds. The beach and water were almost always empty - giving us the needed privacy. Pro: - Nice beach: sand, not steep water entry, very few people, crystal clear water - Beach bar - great for ordering drinks or lunch at the beach. - The sunbeds where in palm tree shade - perfect if you don't want to get sun burnt. If you want to have a tan you can go at the lower levels of the sunbeds - very friendly staff - always happy to help no matter how much i bothered them - supermarket downstairs - lovely tavernas in walking distance - private - away from the crazy crowds and tourists - air conditioning, fridge, clean rooms every day, large balcony, - smart TV which was connected to the internet so i logged in Netflix Cons: - as other guests have said the shower drain was clogged when we arrived but the handyman fixed that in a few hours. This can happen anywhere. Did not have any other issues

Be careful because if you make a booking, you give them payment details for them to take the deposit, even though they have sent you a reservation number and confirmation by email, you still have not got a reservation. We arrived to be told by reception they were very sorry but because it is a busy season they have over booked and we haven't got a room but they have booked us into something else and haven't taken any money. They ordered us a taxi to take us to the alternative hotel which was nothing we wanted, ime overlooking the sea with a balcony and a pool. So my suggestion is to contact them as soon as you've got the reservation and check that you have in fact got a room and when the deposit will be taken.

Just come home from here and although our initial impression was good it became deflated very quickly. We paid for the Junior Suite with outside jacuzzi but arrived early so understandably had to wait to get our room, receptionist was lovely and said to go and enjoy the facilities so went down to pool hubby ordered a drink for us and I thought I’d go for a swim, went to get hold of handrail to get in pool and fell to the side as the rail wasn’t attached properly it swayed at least 2 feet either way so nearly did myself and injury. Went with the lovely cleaner to room because she hadn’t finished cleaning it but didn’t want me hanging about any longer. The 2 suites are out with the hotel so a little walk away and down some step steps to it , looked very nice and was quite happy, left our bags and went to explore, my hubby has walking difficulties so he was struggling to get down the steps to beach and bar just a couple of ropes to hold on to and very uneven so a little pointer if disabled. Very small narrow beach but ok. There is a steep slope you can go down to get to bar and beach but had to help hubby to get down that too. Back to room and found no seats in room to sit on just a bit of a tree trunk and two very weak low deck chairs on balcony. There are no toiletries so bring those with you and wasn’t a hairdryer but got one the next day when I asked. Jacuzzi was very difficult to get into we had to get on our hands and knees to get in and when you put it on we couldn’t breath with the chemical smell coming off it so just used it as a plunge pool after that. The beautiful bath doesn’t fill up keeps draining away so couldn’t have a bath, the sinks had push plugs but we had to get a knife to prize them up every time we used them. No bin to put rubbish in. The tv had no sound the whole holiday and no English subtitles and were told from reception all hotel had same problem, so on the very rainy windy days nothing to watch. No telephone in room which would have been useful as we weren’t in main hotel. The toilet looked like it hadn’t been finished the tiles still to be put down and no toilet roll holder and while admiring the wood round the door the frame came off in my hand 🙀 quickly pushed it back into place but gave us a good laugh at the time. The aircon was week and the free WiFi didn’t work either. There is a kettle and two mugs but bring your own tea and coffee or buy it like we did. Outside the balcony is lovely an views are amazing and thanks to the lovely housekeeper we got 2 chairs to sit on but must warn you be that the roof of the suites have a little garden with sprinklers in the ground and we got rained on by them every so many hours so had to rush inside so not to get soaked. There’s a gait at top of stairs leading down to our room but catch didn’t work when windy so was open most of the time so people walking past kept coming down to look at our view not realising it was private so kept having to say hello to strange people. We were half-board so went to dinner first night and were very disappointed no waiting staff to give you water or a drink, very little choice one meat dish the rest vegetables and little salad choice and there was no soup left and only chopped watermelon for dessert they don’t seem to give butter with the bread so was a let down. Went again another night and was much the same so we didn’t even go for breakfasts and just ate out elsewhere and that cost us 10euros there and back to nearby towns as there are no buses. We did however try the tropics bar for a light lunch my husband ordered the beef burger and asked if he could have cheese on it, the barman had a discussion with chef and the answer was no! It came out 2 little burgers no bun greasy thin chips and side salad. I thought I’d have a cocktail so was given the extensive list and picked one he made it no slice of lemon or orange to decorate just a wine glass with liquid, when I tasted it he had put amaretto in it which I hate and wasn’t supposed to be in it, took it back turns out he had no Cointreau so 3 cocktails I asked for he couldn’t make any of them for lack of alcohol so I said give me a large vodka and Fanta no normal vodka left either so after pointing out the absolute he reluctantly opened it and gave me a tiny amount in a small wine glass with fresh orange no refund if the 6 euros I’d paid for the cocktail or apology. The cafe that has beautiful views was closed off everyday and the pool bar was only open a couple of times forcing you down to beach bar. We paid a lot of money for this holiday and the place would be lovely if they finished it off and had some handy men and waiting staff and improved on food but this holiday has put my husband off going away again and if you do go, don’t do half board and don’t bother upgrading to junior suite with outside jacuzzi and hire a car as no buses we were over £100 on taxis.
