There is a place where hippos turn up unexpectedly, zeppelins take off from the basement, messages are spiralling on the walls and petrol stations for little scooters pop up on the corridors. This place is Hotel Kolping, in the Hungarian countryside. The hotel, where 25 years of development has been based on families' needs. The hotel, that has become known for its child friendly services as well as plenty of ways for adults to relax. Friendly, professional staff, specific architectural solutions and family based services gurantee unforgettable holidays.
Nice, clean rooms, easy access of all attractions. Good food selection. Complementary water and juices should be available at dinner time as well (same as at breakfast).
Very nice the new fun park, however the entry fee should be integrated into the overall fee. Paying things "one by one" takes away the cosy feeling of family resort.

We stayed in a family suite which was well-equipped, suitable for staying with a 10-month old. Totally satisfied with food and service in the restaurant during our whole stay. Great opportunity to spend time in the family pool, participating in the swimming camp, walking in the park of the hotel, or participating during other group activities organised for families with kids and babies.

We spent 4 days in this nice absolutely family friendly hotel located in a small calm village near the lake Balaton. It's very well equipped, you can find everything to feel comfortable in a hotel with kids even with small babies. Rooms are nice and modern furnished, they are clean, and almost all have a great view to the beautiful garden. The pool area is great for the whole family. The restaurant is large, we never really felt it crowded. The menu was this year a bit more simple than in the last years but still very tasty and we could always find something we especially liked. Our kids had a lot of fun, the hotel offers a lot of activities. The staff was really nice and competent, we felt well treated during our stay. We will come back soon!

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and we have mixed feelings. On one hand there is an unbelievable selection of programs and great spots to play, on the other hand we had two accidents as follows:
First day: my son tried a water attraction with a pipe under which children needed to walk through while water comes from every angle. However there is a surprise at the end of the pipe: an incorrectly installed drain with a razor sharp edge (see picture) which cut a quite significant piece out of my son's leg when he stepped on it. So no more water attractions to us...
Second day: in the dining room there is a big round table with very colorful pots around and a big space in the middle. Whoever has children knows what effect these things have on the young ones. My son loved it as well. However when he wanted to go to the middle, he met the second "well" placed trap of the hotel: an approx. 3mm screw that goes out of the bottom of the table (see picture) which of course pinned a hole on my son's head. "He shouldn't have climbed under the table" said one of the staff at a family friendly hotel 😒
In my opinion these kind of screws are unacceptable even on the cheapest piece of furniture and it would not be OK to have this on a regular table at any kind of hotel. But having this in a family friendly hotel on a table that is built to get children to play with it is simply scandalous.
As an apology, the hotel offered some piece of coloring paper to my son which I rejected. On the other hand, the manager who came to talk to us afterwards was professional and understanding...

Dear Guest! We are very sorry to hear that your child suffered 2 injuries in our hotel during your stay. As a family friendly hotel, the safety of children is our main concern when designing rooms, choosing toys and during the operation. Unfortunately, we did not notice the sharp corner at the drain at the water playground during our regular checks. It is used daily by many small children and no similar accidents have occurred here so far. After your son’s unfortunate injury, we have of course corrected it. Our restaurant underwent a complete renovation 5 years ago, when it was given its current shape and when these coloured pots were added. We tried to plan every detail carefully. We are sorry that we were not careful enough with these screws under the table. These have never caused any problem before, but now have of course been corrected. We know that after 2 such unfortunate accidents, the holiday could no relaxing more be. We have tried to compensate you on the spot. We regret that neither the small gift package offered to your child, nor the late check-out were accepted by you. We hope that these are not the only memories you will have of your stay with us, thanks to the programmes and the shared family moments. We wish your son a speedy recovery! In general, it's a perfect hotel for kids. Tons of activities, kids clubs, playgrounds, outdoor pools, indoor pools and an extreme park. Family rooms are perfect with a small kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a balcony and an air conditioning (not so obvious). The place has lot's of free parking. Breakfast is good with a verity of food, coffee, and fresh juices. But, for a 5 stars, everything is got to be perfect. The place is far away from Budapest airport and if you come at night, it's a hard drive with a complete dark. What made me rate it as 4 stars and not 5, is the fact that they charge you in dinner for tab water. 1.5 Euro for 1 litre of tab water. I mean, you pay so much and finally they charge for tab water. That was disappointing.

We spent 4 days at the hotel in December, this was the first time when we chose again a hungarian family friendly hotel (our ultimate favorite is Sonnentherme Hotel in Austria) after we had a very bad experience in Oxigen Hotel Family& Spa, but thanks to the great reviews we decided to stay within the borders, and try Kolping. Our kid is 4 years old, of course he is the most important one, but we wanted to relax and try different spa services at Hanami Beauty & Spa during our stay while he was playing in the kindergarten area. It was a very positive experience, the facial treatment and all the massages we had were excellent, highly recommended. Other services were great as well, food was super, our kid is really picky, but here, he ate everything. :) He played a lot, slept a lot, so it was a great escape for the holidays, we could recharge ourselves, and that is exactly what we are expecting from a family friendly hotel. So we were really satisfied with everything. Since we visited the hotel in winter, we will definitely go back during our summer break in order to try the great outdoor facilities. :)

My interaction wtih Kolping was through their customer care team: I had received a promobox at the hospital I gave birth at, which had their marketing material in it, and it was a cool and inventive baby-passport, where you could record where your 1st inland/foreign trips were, the 1st stroller ride, the 1st bikeride, etc... all in a cool design. When I had my 2nd baby, received the same box, but Kolping's passport was no longer in it. I contacted them wanting to give the 2 kids the same treatment: They not only dug up a babypassport for me and mail it to me free of charge, but they included their new kids' material, which was an "engagement book" for kids of all ages (from 2-3 and up) with all sorts of cool mazes, and coloring sheets, and so on! 5 stars, really. After all this, I am sooo booking a trip there, can't wait to see what they are like in person!

The staff is always friendly and helpful. Our child enjoys the programs. Very clean room.The food was good. The Bobo Fun Park is enough for several days of entertainment. It has a lot of indoor and outdoor areas the kids can play. We enjoyed the different swimming pools, interactive podling pool for little ones, playhouse (new, video game type and old fashioned mechanical wooden games) outside playgrounds, pedaling-gokarting....

We are chosing this hotel for the fourth time since we have our child. This is the best hotel to have family time together with lots of fun, adventure, games and also some self-time while the little one is entertained in the daycare. The staff is very kind 24/7, the food is excellent, the rooms and the whole hotel is well equipped, clean and the big park is also stunning. The spa and wellness part has also plenty of opportunities to relax, recharge your batteries with dozens of massage options, or have some fun with the kids in the pool.
