Would like to put on record from meeting Flora in reception on day one her overwhelming presence nothing was to much trouble for her and her family, a family run hotel we were even given a choice of rooms, it was a great place to stay and relax and so easy to use the bus which stopped right outside our hotel Kalimera. All staff were superb especially Helen who made us feel we were the only guests, they all went the extra mile. Hopefully they will all have a well deserved break soon. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Despite the wonderful welcome to the Hotel, I thought we might have made a mistake booking the Kalimera Hotel as it seemed to be quite isolated, but it quickly dawned on me that it was actually perfect. Santorini is now very very busy, so to be a little way away from the crowds was a bonus. The adjacent village of Akrotiri is lovely, a few good tavernas and an easy bus ride to Fira and Oia. The staff are all wonderful, the food good and it’s always clean. Lovely pool too

First time to Santorini and we decided to stay away from the "popular" areas, it was a good choice. Kalimera Hotel is family run, headed by Flora. We were made very welcome even though our flight was delayed so our arrival was well after midnight. The entire hotel is very clean, the food is traditional (very tasty) and the pool area is very relaxing. Our thanks particularly to Flora and Helen as between you, you made our holiday experience more relaxing than we expected.

We have travelled extensively in Greece and have always received a warm welcome with clean but basic accommodation. We expected the same for our first time in Santorini but WOW! The hotel Kalimera is outstanding. On our (very late night) arrival, Flora was waiting with the warmest of welcome and information about the island. We were even given a choice of rooms. Our one was spacious, squeaky-clean and beautifully furnished with lovely wall art and accessories. The en-suite bathroom was immaculate and spacious. The shower was better than our one at home! Little touches like cotton wool and cotton buds in jars, potpourri were so well appreciated. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and varied to suit any taste. You had a choice of eating in the lovely dining room - again tastefully furnished and accessorised - or alfresco by the pool. Huge thanks to Flora and her staff and especially to Eleni to whom we taught an English phrase...."wine o'clock"...which amused her greatly. Her friendship and service were second to none. I defy anyone to find a leaf, bug or even a speck of dust in the pool or surround. The location of the hotel couldn't be better. A bus-stop literally outside the gate and buses that can take you anywhere over the island. The little village was a short walk away with lovely, friendly bars and tavernas serving great food. A couple of well-stocked supermarkets completed our needs. A short bus-ride or 20 minute walk away were the amazing remains of the ancient village. Absolutely fascinating and close by was a small beach, a little harbour for boat trips and again, some fab tavernas. We would have no hesitation in recommending Akrotiri but especially the Hotel Kalimera to anyone.

Kalimera is the perfect base from which to explore Santorini. The hotel is kept immaculate. It has all the facilities you would need and the frequent bus to and from Fira stop just outside the door. The pool, bar and dining terrace look out onto the Aegean sea and if, like us, you have a room at the front, you get the most amazing views of the Caldera. The rooms are spotless and cleaned every day, frequent linen changes, a fridge, Aircon, and spacious ensuite. There are a wide range of choices from the buffet breakfast, cheeses, yoghurt , honey, traditional pastry hams, eggs etc and plenty of vegetarian and Coeliac options. Of most note is the warmest of welcomes, whatever hour of the day you arrive.

After a brief stay in 2022 we came back for a two week stay at the Kalimera. On arrival we were greeted by Flora and shown to our room. Everything was clean, and bedding and towels were changed regularly. Breakfast was usually taken outside and each morning homemade pastries were different from the day before - a nice touch. Staff were friendly and would respond to a friendly greeting. There are plenty of places to eat and drink and we found a couple of good traditional tavernas in the village but would have to give the “Greek night” at a restaurant very low marks, having witnessed much better events in the past. Having taken the local bus to Thira and Oia we were able to appreciate the much quieter location of Akrotiri! Visits were made to the archaeological site and to the relevant museum in Thira. Should you go there, make sure you go downstairs to see the remains of the wall paintings. Akrotiri is an interesting hillside village and there are two beaches close by. Kalimera is fortunate in having a bus stop right outside and can provide a number of traditional dishes should you not wish to venture out in the evening. The garden area around the pool is very attractive and well maintained. We can thoroughly recommend the hotel.

This is a little gem of a hotel situated in the beautiful and quiet village of Akrotiri in the south west corner of Santorini. All rooms have a view of either the caldera or the Aegean Sea and are immaculately clean. Flora runs a tight ship and she and the staff maintain high standards. When we were there most of the guests were French and stayed for just a few days to see the sights so were out most of the time. The pool is a good size set in a beautiful garden. Opposite the hotel is a steep path down to a quiet beach on the caldera with no sunbeds or parasols but fabulous views and a lovely traditional taverna. Ancient Akrotiri is a short walk away and well worth a visit, get there early to avoid the coach trips. Outside the hotel is the bus stop to Fira where you can visit the museum and see the frescoes and pottery from Akrotiri. The Venetian castle at the top of the hill has spectacular views. There are several good tavernas in the village or you can eat in the hotel. The menu is sensibly limited and both food and service are very good ( the wine is excellent! ) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Kalimera and would recommend it if you like peace and quiet and excellent friendly service. Our thanks to all the staff at the hotel especially Flora, Eleni and our super smiling cleaner.

My daughter and I stayed here for three nights and found everything just right! I like to stay in Akrotiri because it’s quiet and away from the crowds and compactness of the towns. Besides the bus stop is about 15 paces in front of the hotel to get around. The room was clean and just the right size. You don’t go to Santorini to sit in the hotel room. The breakfast was what I would call “traditional” Greek and on my return to the States still have breakfast in the way we had there. Flora, the manager, ever so courteous and helpful. She knows a lot about the island and it’s history. In fact, the Akrotiri excavations were a top see for us and they are an easy walk to along with Red beach. The village is also an easy walk and there are several tavernas located there. We loved our stay. When I return to the island, this is my choice for “home base”.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights and couldn't be happier. The woman who runs the place (Mrs Flora) was extremely kind and helpful. The hotel itself is charming, with lovely art objects decorating the premises and the individual rooms. The pool area is especially nice. My room was spotlessly clean. And the breakfast is excellent. Highly recommended.
