It is with great pleasure that we give the highest rating of 5 stars (*****) to Koedoeskop Private Reserve located in Greater Addo Eastern Cape. If you are looking for tranquility and a high level of service to the guest, you will find it here!! The introduction by Nikki on all the amenities will quickly get you acquainted with all aspects the property has to offer during your stay. The level of cuisine is very high with the addition of South Africa’s traditional cooking thanks to Nikki and Bianca’s personal touch. The safari is a lifetime experience with excellent guided excursions from Neil and Patrick thanks to their “keen eyesight”!! The accommodations are at a very high level overall including the much appreciated personal attention to making one comfortable. We thank Easy Travel Tours, S.A. for bringing us to Koedoeskop and to discover its luxury. …
Lovely place to stay - we enjoyed the manor house and surrounds but our stay was marred by ridiculously overpriced food for what was provided. Below par home cooking at 5-star restaurant prices.
Lovely accommodation, super location in the Karoo Sadly let down by extortionist pricing for dinner. R450 per person for a mediocre chicken thigh and veggies dinner a complete joke. Traveler’s beware. Breakfast of bacon and eggs fine but no extras ( sorry “ we have run out of tomatoes”! ) An overnight stay marred by the owners overcharging for a meal that would have cost R150 at most.
We booked a family stay at Koedoeskop over December. Luc was very helpful with providing all the info we could need and the staff were very attentive and helpful from the moment we got there. The Lodge itself is beautiful and we loved all the space, especially the stoep! There was enough room for everyone and the kids could play with such a variety of things. The pool was wonderful and the most popular spot. We loved going hiking, running and cycling in the bush and we went out for a few drives and sundowners as well - absolutely beautiful farm, lovely views - especially if you climb the koppie behind the house before sunrise! Off course the boma is also great, sitting around a fire under the Karoo skies - magic! We had a very special time on the farm for the 10 days we were there. It is a magnificent farm, and you can see that everyone there loves the place and they take such good care of the farm and environment. I can highly recommend Koedoeskop - a place you can truly rest and get away from it all.…
This small private game reserve (4 staff members in total) has a beautiful location, rooms are lovely and fully equipped, nice chairs to sit and eat outside. Game drives are quite nice with drinks and snacks served on the afternoon gamedrive. Be careful with the gamewalks on foot: one of us broke a wrist after a fall. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Downside is the location. Wherever you come from, do not use the 70 km untarred road from Somerset East if you do not have a 4x4. It took us 1 hour en 45 minutes to cross it and can, in our opinion, only be done with a 4x4. Pity that we were not warned in advance. There is another road, 50 km untarred, with less obstacles so check before you go. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are cooked on the spot and are very simple for a very high price (300 Rand pp for lunch and 450 Rand pp for Dinner). For this money you only get cheap stuff like spaghetti or a piece of pizza for lunch and chicken with rice or pork with potatoe mash as main dish for dinner. Really bad value for money. So although it is a lovely place we will not come back…
Nicely decorated common rooms and guest rooms. The 4 employees do their best to justify the high prices. The meals are good basic home cooking but priced like in a gourmet restaurant (we dined at Reuben‘s in Franschhoek for a similar price). After rainfalls the river blocks the major part of the park for a week or two. Meaning, no game drives. There exists no plan B in this case, you are trapped. Do not expect any personal interaction with the owner who lives in Dubai. Bring enough cash with you if you want to avoid a 5% fee on you creditcard payment. In summary, compared to similar lodges - overpriced.
Thank you to all the team at Koedoeskop for making our stay so special. Luc helped us plan a fantastic itinerary before we arrived to ensure that we made the most of our short 2 night stay. Once we arrived, the team at Koedoeskop were so helpful, kind, attentive and passionate. Christine made the most delicious food. Neal and Matthews took us on 3 game drives including a sundowner game drive at Koedoeskop and a safari at Addo. We were one of only two couples staying, so when we went out on our game drives we were the only people in the bush. A very different experience to some of the more commercial safaris. The lodge itself is beautiful. Every evening the team made a fire so we could eat and drink under the skies filled with stars. This was such a special and memorable place - I would highly recommend a stay for anyone visiting SA.…
Amazing warm welcome by the lovely staff, beautiful location with giraffes within walking distance, very comfortable room and a very cute dog. One of the best places we vistited in SA and highly recommended.
This was my third Time here un kodoeskop. Everything perfect as usual Great team great place. The reserve is Big and nous dangerous animals, that was great to go with bicycle to the River to watch girafes
There was one defining moment during my first visit to South Africa, and it was the two nights‘ stay at Koedoeskop. It took us a good 2.5 hrs drive from Port Elizabeth that quickly turned into an adventure, but luckily our rental SUV has proven durable and loyal. :) We were very lucky to be the only four guests at the lodge. Only on the last evening another „guest“, Isabelle, arrived and shared dinner with us, which was really nice and interesting as she told us about how the whole project Koedoeskop came about. We‘ve enjoyed our time there so much! In the early morning before sunrise, we were able to use the lodge‘s mountain bikes and cycle northwards into the bush on our own, in search of the former owner‘s family grave from the 1930s or the ancient cave drawings. Together with Alwyn, field ranger at Koedoeskop, we later took the Safari vehicle and drove a little deeper into the bush to have picnic by the river bed and greet the giraffes. Jomarlé made sure to spoil us with her kitchen expertise, serving kudu, chicken roast, warthog bacon, and a farewell Molten Chocolate Lava Cake. Absolutely delicious! Be prepared to leave with an even greater hunger for Koedoeskop if you only stay for two nights. I am already looking forward to returning soon. The starry night in the bush has been the greatest experience I have had in a very long time. Thank you!…
