Quickly you notice that this resort is not well managed. The reception staff is clueless and bored. Breakfast is yummy but service is slow to pick up used plates or replace empty dishes. The little lagoon is not really a beach, but good to kayak off or kite surf. The pontoon is beautiful! The garden is left to its own tropical fun (not well tended).

Beautiful surroundings, but over all dissappointing. It is tranquil, but it's not well run. A pretty property, but clenliness is lacking badly, and it's run by hotel-school interns without supervision. And, though they mean well, they badly miss the mark with on communication. You'll move your own bags, front desk lines are often unanswered, pidgeons are the main ones picking at the breakfast buffet with staff not even trying to shoo them away, housekeeping leaves the cleaning supplies on their cart untouched (it really shows in the bathrooms) and uses your towels for only the barest of wipe-downs. You'll clean your own coffee cup after housekeeping leaves, the internet is too slow for anything with video, and the bird problem extends at night with jarring and repetitive crow-like sounds heard loudly in the restaurant and in the rooms. And despite what's promised on the website, one bar/restaurant is permanently closed. Of the other two, one does breakfast with pidgeon droppings on most chairs and covering the rafters, the other does a decent but pricey lunch/dinner. Cap Est didn't live up to its promise, but has lots of room for improvement with a change of management.

With a few changes this resort could be a 5. Having said that, we don’t know what it’s typically like when fully operational. During our stay the bar area was closed and only one restaurant open for lunch and dinner. This made for a very quiet visit. We didn’t mind so much for this leg of our trip as our prior couple of weeks of travel were quite active. Might have felt differently had this been the only place we’d visited on the island. Under the circumstances definitely glad we had a rental car. We explored off-site restaurant options as the menu at the restaurant didn’t change at all between lunch and dinner. It was also pricey and our first night eating there was not up to our expectations on food or service considering. However we were glad we gave it another try at lunch which based on better food and fabulous service we followed with two more visits including one of our best nights for dinner on the island! The professionalism and great service by Regina, Bastian and Jeremy deserves a mention as that had part to do with the change in the vibe. Our subsequent visits to the they had music on which was great! A suggestion if you go during lunch, try getting a perimeter table across from the bar area...there’s a wonderful cross breeze which was welcome in the afternoon heat. Breakfast is included and was overall good. Nice change if scenery being at the only other onsite food service area we saw, they were open up to 10a.m. and closed the rest of the day. The grounds are beautiful here...small/quiet beach area to relax by, though I prefer a Caribbean beach if I’m going to spend time in the water. We spent the majority of our time at the Infinity pool which had great views of the whole property. If you’re looking for quiet this is the place! Rooms are spacious, no complaints there. The decor might be considered dated by some standards but to me it almost had a rustic vibe. We loved the large verandah in the morning with our coffee. With a bit more effort in the areas of restaurant options/ menu selection, and amenities/entertainment, I would think this resort could improve it’s overall traveller ratings.

The location is great and the rooms are generally "okay". The reason I gave such a low overall rating is that the resort is poorly managed so you don't get the service level you'd expect from a hotel charging these types of nightly fees. A few examples. 1. When asking for "beach" towels for the day, they'd only have some available approximately 30% of the time. 2. Dirty drink glasses left by the pool for 36+ hrs. 3. Cleaning staff would come into the room and wash dirty glasses in the sink with no soap and then put them back in place. 4. The food at the restaurant was "okay", but you'd expect a hotel like this to serve higher-end dishes. 5. Refridgerator in the room didn't work. 6. The room was "dusty" in the closets, walls, etc. The perplexing part was that all the staff were generally very friendly when we spoke to them, but it just always seemed like their hands were tied and they couldn't do anything more than the bare minimum. We will not be going back.

Rooms are nice. It's very quiet which if you enjoy, you will love this property. The quality of the food at all of the restaurants are excellent. You can arrange for a boat to pick you up right from the pier at the hotel, which is a nice touch. You're also able to arrange car rentals on property.
