The Palms hotel is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere, enhanced by live music and traditional decor, and set within peaceful garden spaces. Guests have called out the wide range of amenities, including a pristine beach, multiple dining options, and family-friendly environment, all complemented by attentive staff. While the service has received high marks, some guests suggest consistency could be improved. Nestled in a serene beachfront location, The Palms is lauded for its cleanliness. However, the rooms receive mixed reviews, with some guests finding them outdated. Opinions on value also differ, with the experience considered overpriced by some.

We went on 10th of July with our family under full board. We booked one double and one triple room. At the entrance all covid 19 measures were taken such as sterilizing of baggage, hand washing and taking of each guest's temperatures with ID details.

Our rooms were on first floor overlooking pool and beach. Rooms were spacious and clean.

Tea provided at the lobby with snacks such as banana cakes, Chinese rolls, etc in the afternoons and mornings. Furthermore all three meals were on buffet with really good spread of foods. I especially liked their batter fried crabs , so yummy !!!

Kids had fun in the pool and beach.

Extras can be purchased at a discounted rate.

This was our first trip after about 5 months due to corona and we all spent a very relaxing and happy time there. Thank you Palms :) We'll definitely come again ....

The main drawback was the unavailability of WiFi facility at least in the lobby area and the 1st time for me after a long time.

Having sanitizers at ready after using the hotel pen will help the cause .

The food , the buffet spread was super and the overall stay was very comfortable.

Note: We went to Sri Lanka May 2022 at the heat of protest and fuel shortage – and despite US Consulate recommendation to avoid Sri Lanka, we did our own investigations and decided to go and felt safer in SL during protests then we did in the US, so you should not hesitate to go. We even viewed a couple protests which were orderly and very civil. Go to SL now as it is not crowded and they really rely on tourism so service will be even better.

For the duration of our 3 week tour through Sri Lanka, The Palm was probably our favorite resort. The lobby was very simple but very relaxing with long corridors with seating surrounded by shallow water ponds. Just wish we had more time to enjoy. The housekeeping staff surprised us with an elaborate decorated bed cover made with real leaves, flower pedals for our anniversary and a very delicious cake after our first dinner. Then on our last day, just as we finished our coffee, the entire wait staff surprised us again with a delicious birthday cake and joined to sing happy birthday. Chef Madusonka and Chef Hemontha prepared very elegant meals, both in presentation and superior taste. The cost to add dinner is well worth the price of just dinner, as their dishes rival a 5 star restaurant. Our server Supan and Chamara, Digna DeSilva all provided outstanding service with every meal and celebrating my birthday. I wish we could have stayed a couple more nights just for the food alone!

Unhelpful staff. Even the manager does not know how to apologise if the staff makes repeated mistakes. Dinner took more than one and a half hour to be served. Helpings were small. Made wrong bill twice. Swimming pool timing is odd. It closes down at 7PM. Also there is no dedicated changing room or shower room for the swimming pool users. Even the massage centre closes down around same time. Room has just one plug point closer to the TV. You can not charge your phone at bed side. Also to switch off 4 lights you have to go to 4 corners, which actually is annoying while going to sleep. Washroom is too small. There are two small bottles of some liquid is kept in toilet which you will keep on wondering which is shampoo, conditioner or shower gel as they are not labelled. My room was so called sea view room but I could hardly see the sea because of tree line.
Beach is clean and has direct access from the hotel. There is one jet scooter guy who charges much less than the water sports companies in Bentota who does sports in river and this one is in the sea, bargain as much as you can.
Buffet breakfast and dinner is Ok.
Staff was not at all friendly.
I don’t recommend this place as it is over priced and over hyped.

We a group of 23 checked in to this property from 04.03.2020 to 06.03.2020. The check in was quite smooth and we were in our rooms with in 10 minutes time. A perfect hotel right on the beach which gives a panoramic view through out.The room where I was staying (216) was quite comfortable with all perfect stain free linen and towels. The bathroom was well equipped with all the amenities but the only demerit was foul smell was there inside the bathroom.

inside the room the a/c was not functioning properly and ice flakes used to come out from the a/c vents but once complained the house keeping team took one hour to complete the job and afterwards every thing was quite perfect.

As regards the food the spreads for both Breakfast as well as Dinner used to be simply perfect and the choices used to be plenty.

I would also like to thank the whole team of The Palms for getting us one of the best hospitality in Sri Lanka. Would recommend the property..

There are many kind of rooms in this hotel. For the first night I got one downstairs; it smelled musty and the air conditioning was very noisy. Then I got a much better one, with nice colours and everything worked well. Both rooms were spacious and pretty clean.

I seldom spend my holidays on the beach but this place was really nice and I could have spent hours swimming in the sea. The beach was cleaned every morning, the sand near the hotel was fine and nice for walking barefoot. There are some simple restaurants and shops nearby. The garden area of the hotel was good, too, and so was to pool, but I didn't go there much because the sea was so much better.

The breakfast and dinner buffets were big and the food was tasty.

Booked in for 4 nights as a family of 4. Received a friendly welcome with garlands of flowers and a welcome drink. We were shown to our rooms immediately, but one of them smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. The staff quickly organised an alternative room. The accommodation was very clean with lovely views of the grounds and the Indian Ocean. The restaurant was very pleasant and a good selection of both local and western foods. The manager went out of his way to assist with dietary needs. A special mention to Supun who also looked after us along with the other restaurant staff. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for Valentine’s Day. The pool area was very clean with pool towels being available, and Shehan ensured we had our regular spot around the pool each day. The beach was lovely with soft sand and we enjoyed long walks along the shoreline. The bar staff were very efficient and a good selection of drinks were available. Afternoon tea was offered to us each day with cakes. Dilshan and the other bar staff were all very pleasant and quickly learnt our drink orders and our room numbers. Our only disappointment was that people were smoking at the bar and surrounding indoor seating areas. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay, being well looked after throughout.

I am a chief engineer who is sailing in ships and after signing off from my last ship, I arrived Sri Lanka on 05th December, then arrived to " The Palms hotel", Beruwala to stay 14 days Quarantine period as it is a mandatory requirement in Sri Lanka.
The hotel is located in a beautifully landscaped garden. All the rooms are sea view rooms and the view from the room balcony is marvelous and very relaxing.
The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable.
Apart of all the above, why I highly recommend this hotel is because the hotel staff including hotel resident manager are extremely friendly and helpful. If we need something, what we have to do is simply send a small WhatsApp message and at the next minute, it is done.
The food is very good. Excellent.
As we are not allowed to go out from the rooms because of quarantine rules, the hotel management is arranging musical groups to play music at some evenings and every one can enjoy the music from their balconies. Also we can request our favorite songs through WhatsApp messages.
Finally I would like to mention here that my 14 day stay here was extremely comfortable.
Big thank to the hotel management.....

We enjoyed our 3 nights stay at the palms. The location is just stunning on a white postcard sandy beach. They have their own sun beds on the beach too and also a beautiful large swimming pool. Plus tropical gardens too.
We stayed in a sea view suite which was fantastic value, views to die for and a nice big balcony.
A big selection for breakfast including fresh omelet station, fruit and lots of local breakfast items.
Service and staff can be a little slow but they haven’t been open long since lockdown.
All in all a great value for money stay, close to Bentota centre, where there are plenty of places to shop and eat (it’s about $2 in tuk-tuk )
