We welcome guests in our home with 5 well-designed double-rooms. From which one is a deluxe Suite. It is directly at the beach. The fresh breakfast with self-made jam is only one special addition, next to the free yoga classes and delicious homemade cakes. Most of our furniture is self designed and locally handcrafted. Such as in your room we used natural bamboo bed-sheets which almost feel like silk. Please not that our rooms do not have attached bathrooms, on the same floor is one Spa like bathroom with 3 showers and 2 separate toilets. (check out the pics) Please be aware, that we do not have air condition in our rooms as it is not in accordance with our opinion of a sustainable and responsible lifestyle! The house is surrounded by a big garden, with hammocks to relax, while enjoying the sea view! We have Wifi available in our home. Breakfast is included!

Most of the superlatives have been expressed before, however it's worth repeating just how remarkable this place is. To have the vision and then the drive to achieve this amazing building situated where it is is amazing. We loved using the sea breeze rather than air con, the compostable toilet rather than flush, the communal showers (dignity preserved however!). My wife enjoyed a lovely Ayurvedic massage on the special German bed! Food is excellent and they serve easily the best coffee in Sri Lanka! Thank you to this remarkable family.

Clare, Paulina and Carlotta are a family team, welcoming you into their beach front home. They have excellent knowledge of the area if you need advice. The house is very stylish and cool, you’ll need plenty of insect repellent at this homestay as we were bitten a lot even with the mozzie net. Food here is amazing, good breakfast, excellent rice and curry cooked traditionally for lunch and fish each evening for dinner. Bathroom arrangements are unusual but we got used to it after a couple of days, prepare yourself for a surprise when you take a shower!!

We had amazing 4 days at the Amuura Beach House. Claire, Paulina and Carlotta are great hosts which had a lot of information for our further road trip. The design of the house and the rooms is absolutely great and the food is fabulous! Don't miss the chance to try Carlottas homemade cakes - we loved them. The house, rooms and the garden are in a perfect condition and everything is very clean! We absolutely recommend Amuura Beach House - it was the perfect start for our Sri Lankan road trip.

A very belated review with heartfelt thanks for a Sri Lankan highlight. Wonderful stylish and clean accom on the beachfront. The most delicious and fresh breakfasts - the best in 3 weeks. The hosts were all excellent company. So much personality and character compared to the concrete shopping mall type hotels nearby. A visit to their organic cinnamon farm is a must. This was the start of my holiday and i received many tips on Sri Lanka, the people, the transport, food etc which put me in stead for the rest of my trip. Stay here- the place is fabulous and the hosts are very welcoming, authentic people living an inspiring life.

Had a wonderful stay at Amuura. Hosts are fvery friendly and they have lovely cooks who feed you with tasty Sri Lankan food. Initialy the plan was to stay for 2 nights but we extended our stay by one more night as we enjoyed it so much. They have a beautiful garden facing the beach. It's almost like a private beach with beautiful Sri lankan aesthetic furniture. There is no air condition but you don't need one here as the ventilation is great. You can take a day trip to busy bentota. Would highly recommend this property. Cheers to mother daughter duo who has maintained this property exceptionally well. My family is making a visit there soon in March P.S do carry mosquito repellent and spray as they are all around.

I stayed at Amura for 3 nights and I wish I could've stayed longer! Beautiful home built with sustainability and ecological principles in mind... The rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds including sheets made out of bamboo fiber. And the meals were absolutely delicious... lunch is usually Sri Lankan rice and curry then for dinner option of seafood or other vegetarian healthy meal using seasonal ingredients from the farm. Make sure to try the desserts that are baked almost daily by Carlotta! The location is great, far enough from the main beach to have a private and restful stay. They have a beach just steps away where you can swim and with the best swing and sunset spot :) Beautiful garden with lots of coconut and frangipani trees with hammocks and comfortable lounge chairs to relax. Make sure not to miss yoga in the morning as well as a tour of their permaculture farm. They grow organic cinnamon, which you can buy and take home. Thank you Claire, Paulina, Carlotta, and Amal! For a "home away from home" and for everything that you do.

Amuura Beach House is everything I could have asked for and more. It's a quaint beach house run by the most amazing family of ladies with a gorgeous serene beach just footsteps away! Claire and her daughters were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and helpful. They go above and beyond what it expected to ensure guests are happy- for example- they were kind enough to help my boyfriend plan a surprise candlelight dinner for us complete with a heart shape ( and crazy delicious) cake. The rooms are gorgeous and airy with a comfy bed and sheets/pillows. You have a shared bathroom space with the other guests, but it is executed in such a way that you don't feel your privacy is invaded. The garden surrounding the house is serene and quiet with lounge chairs and hammocks spread throughout for relaxing and reading. They prepare all of the food themselves- and it is super tasty. For lunch they make a vegetarian curry and for dinner they make a local seafood dish or another tasty veggie meal! They also make delicious drinks and homemade cakes to enjoy! One of the highlights of our stay was having Claire take us to the permaculture farm and touring the grounds with us. It was incredibly well thought out and sustainable. She truly sets an example for others to follow. They produce organic cinnamon on site which is the tastiest I have found on the island! Make sure to bring some home for yourself and loved ones!! It's truly amazing what they have managed to build here and you would be missing out if you passed the opportunity to stay with these amazing ladies!

We stayed for 3 nights at this wonderful place. It was the best accommodation we've had on our trip on Sri Lanka. We loved the beautiful garden, the house with it's atmosphere, the beach, the breakfast and the cooking, because everything is ecological and organic - that's the special concept the host have. We felt so comfortable with the lovable host and their hospitality. We would like to say thank you to Claire, Paulina, Carlotta, Amal and the staff to make our stay so relaxing, comfortable and full of joy. We really can recommend this little place of paradise.

We stayed at Amuura just for 1 day and it was our most memorable experience. We were a bit worried to book Amuura as there were not many reviews on tripadvisor but it was the best decision we made. The house and the location were AMAZING !!! photos cannot do justice to this property The House Beautiful and full of character !!! we had the best room facing the beach with a view of the Island . The room had a nice comfy four post bed and was very spacious and super clean. The Location We have stayed at fancy resorts paying exorbitant amount of money but nothing offers a view like Amuura . The swing on the beach, the sunset, the coconut grove, the view of the lighthouse island .... The People The place is run by a mother and her 2 daughters and they were lovely hosts. Highly Recommend Amuura !!!

A relaxing start of our vacation. Felt really welcomed to their home and the family. A great opportunity to meet other people for common dinners. Almost a private beach with nice sunsets. Good food! Very friendly people with yoga in the morning. A fantastic Christmas celebration! A bit noisy garden view room with a busy street just outside and a loud rooster. Uncomfortable beds.
