I were there just a night, I got a motorbike lift from the staff to visit the fair at the nearby temple (Wat Salakpet). The place is so lovely, I enjoy my stay very much. A bike is free and the staff is really helpful in setting it up ready. Biking through coconut orchard and fishing village, buying dry fishes back home...I really enjoy that morning.
This is a really nice place to stay if you have the money, absolutely gorgeous terass where you can enjoy the view of the bay as you eat your breakfast. Really nice lounge area upstairs and overall a very relaxing and quiet vibe. There's also a shop across the street. Breakfast is worth the price. Salakphet is a quiet place and basically everything closes at 9PM. Use the free kayaks offered and see the Mangroves up close and paddle in between the houses to see the real local lifestyle (I also recommend walking around the village onto the different piers). For a more western vibe head to the Fishermen's Hut restaurant that's run by a Swedish guy, good food and excellent boat trips from there. Things to see close by: Boat trips(Talk to the Swedish guy at Fishermen's Hut), Long Beach, Mangrove Walkaway, the Temple, Kayaking and the village itself.…
If you enjoy a little bit of quiet during your travels, this is a good place for you. The staff was very friendly and could accomodate requests for activities (e.g. have kayaks for free and scooters for rent). The food options in the area are not plenty, but dinner and breakfast (banana cakes!) have a variety of good options. If you book activities with this hotel, I would advise to doublecheck if an English speaking guide is available as we had a little bit of trouble with that. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed our stay.
We were here with my spouse. Mangrove Hideway was really good place to take relax. Breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. If you want very much privaty maybe this is not good place for you. Otherwise; highly recommended Mangrove Hideway.
We didn't stay here, but booked a private snorkelling tour for our family of 5. We were picked up/dropped off from our hotel (Amber Sands), which was ~ 20 minutes away. We left at ~ 9am and returned aroun 3;30pm and had 5 stops on the surrounding islands, including lunch on an empty beach that felt like scene from Castaway. The crew were great. They always seemed to find the empty beaches, brought bread for the kids to feed the fish and were great help with the kids. Considering the price was not significantly more than 5 tickets on a larger boat, I highly recommend considering this option for any groups of 4 - 8.
