We stayed here in July 2011 and we found it just the perfect place to spend a peaceful vacation by the sea in a well-maintained, beautiful and spacious apartment.

The two buildings of the apartments and maisonettes are situated a few steps above the pebbly beach of Vokaria, which is a calm and lovely place with a small port with fishing boats, a good taverna with seafood, and a cafe. And that is all, there is nothing more, as this is not a real settlement; the place is part of Nenita, which is the village above (a few minute drive up the hill – you will need a car here), where you can buy food and find more tavernas in the evenings.

We stayed in an apartment which was pretty nice, clean, and spacious with modern, new-looking furniture: a double bed, a sofa, TV, table+chairs, A/C, a modern bathroom with shower with curtain and towels, and a well-equipped kitchen with a normal-size fridge. Well-equipped means that this has been the best equipped kitchen in Greece we have ever seen: not only the usual plates, glasses, pots etc., but water boiler for coffe and tea with some bags of nescafé and tea, sponge, washing-up liquid, tea-towels, sandwich-maker, washing powder and even a first-aid box (with bandaid, medicament against mosquitos etc. ).

Besides, when we arrived, some cold water and home-made orange jam was waiting in the fridge. This latter is made by Jiorgos, the owner’s mum, and was really tasty, unfortunately it is not made for sale, so we couldn’t bring it home in bigger quantities. :)

And the view… All of the terraces offer the same, great view to the sea. At dawn you can watch the rising sun (and it’s really worth waking up so early - at least once while you are there) and enjoy the peaceful, empty beach and port in the soft early morning lights. Later, when the sun is higher, it gets too hot in the terrace, but in the afternoon it is pleasant again to sit there, and you can just enjoy the view and the sound of the wawes.

Last but not least, all this is topped by the super-kind Birgit, who takes good care of you while you are there. We usually met in the mornings and could ask her about anything, she was always extremely helpful and had a lot of good advice.

We recommend this place to everyone who looks for a calm, idillic spot to stay in a nice apartment with nice people!

Only a year old this place gives you anything possible to want - if you love being away from hustle and bustle ,spending quiet days by a beautiful shoreline on an island not overrun by tourism. Lot of beaches where you can be alone and nice drives to interesting villages. Amarandos is most recommendable!

After visiting so many Greek Islands, we found this idyllic spot in Chios, where we spent a fantastic week at Amarandos Apartments. We rented a two-storied maisonette and this was an excellent choice. The apartment looks exactly as on their website: spotless clean, with two balconies facing the sea, and situated 30 m above the beach. At sunrise, the view from the balcony is unbeatable – you watch the sun literally come out of the water as you linger on the comfy chairs, listen to the sound of waves and sip your morning coffee. The sitting room is extremely comfortable and offers free internet access. During our stay, the very friendly and helpful staff made us feel indeed welcomed: thank you Birgit for all the attention and the fresh vegetables from your garden !
The place is surrounded by olive groves and mountains. Being nearly untouched by mass-tourism, it is the ideal retreat for everyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. The beach is lovely since it is somehow secluded. There is also a fish tavern conveniently located nearby (just a few minutes away), also by the sea, which serves delicious food very reasonably priced. All in all, Nenita is an tranquil village in an unspoiled island. The location was perfect as a starting point for visiting the medieval gorgeous villages for which the island is renowned.
We loved this place and would warmly recommend Amarandos Apartments (although we do not want this hidden gem to become too crowded). It was the most relaxed we felt in a long time, and hope to return one day.

We so thoroughly enjoyed staying at Amarandos that we would definitely plan a return visit! Giorgos, the owner, and his family are delightful! The property is new, lovely, well-tended (thank you Birgid) and right on the beach. To wake up every morning to that view was simply amazing and to sit on the private veranda for breakfast...beyond words! The neighboring taverna, also on the water, is a true find! Try their array of fried fish, freshly caught from the ocean. The coffee freddo is amazing (made from Italian beans). The chef brings out wonderful dessert treats. Amarandos is a gem in the heart of the mastic villages and should not be passed by! Hello and best wishes to Giorgos! Lori, Joshua and Jonas

We went with my husband to Amarandos on the beginnig of May. We speacially chose this date to observe Rocket event. With car it takes about 40 minutes from Chios center to Amarandos. The road had beautiful view with old houses and gardens. When we arrived, we saw beutiful shinning sea and Amarandos just near by. As we were parking i saw young lady who was waving her hand to us friendly. We found out shortly that she was Angeliki who was the owner of apartments. Right away she took us our room. It was same as with the photos, very tidy and clean. The furnitures were new, perfectly clean and new bathroom and small kitchen which includes even instant coffea machine. Then she told us everything, about seesight, where to eat, where to swim (you could swim infront of hotel as well but the beach was stony). Then she described the way as well. We made our plan but it was hard to leave that quite nice place. In the evening again we met her to make payment, she told us because of holiday the markets will be closed. We were in a panic because we did not have anything for beakfast. So she kindly brought us bread from her house. It was very nice gesture for us. I strongly recommend this beautful place to stay, we thank Angeliki for her hosipitality. If you choose Amarandos you won't regret. I say it with relief because my husband i are not easy pleased people :) Have a nice holiday already.

My wife and I stayed in Amarandos for two weeks in July 2013 and it was just wonderful.
We were very kindly received by Angeliki.
The apartment is well maintained and cleaned twice a week. The view over the Aegean sea is magnificient. Nearby at the harbour are two restaurants and the beach is just a few paces away.
Nice to do is also to walk to Nenita town in the evening and just to sit on the square and watch all the locals. If you like a quiet place with a good standard then this is where to go. A car is recommended. Chios is a still very much an island of the Greek and unspoiled.

My Wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and it was really great. The accommodations were great and the owners were so wonderful. I can't say enough how much we liked it there. It was a highlight of our trip and exactly what we were looking for, which was a nice place to relax. There was a little construction going on at the beach while I was there, but it looked finished as we were leaving.

The town looks hard to find from the Chios Port, but we did okay just following the signs for the cities we were supposed to cross through.

I would definitely come back here again and would recommend it to anyone. I would call the place a 10 out of 10, but the owner Angeliki was so nice I want to give it an 11 out of 10.

This was our first family trip to Chios and Amarandos was highly recommended to us by a friend. It turned out that she was right and we spent three wonderful days there. Chios is already a nice place to visit anyway, but extra bonus was the apartments and the folks who own the place - a young and friendly couple w/two boys. They just made us feel at home. These apartments are about 20-30 min. drive from the port and don't expect any night life, etc., but it is rather quite and cozy part of the island. It has a semi-private beach right in front. Accomodations are superb even though it is not a full-blown hotel - clean, plenty of room, kitchen etc. Great for a couple or family who seek a quite, private, and even romantic getaway. Definitely going back there.

After reading their website, I had high hopes for Amarandos, and my expectations were completely met. The apartment was clean and comfortable. The view from the terrace is spectacular. There are 2 very nice restaurants right on the beach about 1 minute walk from Amarandos. Angeliki Kakitsis (I didn't get a chance to meet her husband) is a lovely person who helped us whenever we needed assistance. There a number of interesting places to visit on the island which doesn't feel overly touristy. I wish I were in Chios right now!

We had the pleasure of staying the last week of September 2013 in Amarandos Sea View Apartments. Upon arrival, Angeliki, the owner/manager, gave us a warm welcome and provided a wealth of information : which places/beaches to visit, where to eat, things to do, driving directions, ATM locations, and so on.

We rented a two-floor maisonette (bathroom and bedroom on the ground floor and the living room and kitchen on the first floor). The maisonette is spacious, clean and well equipped. The two terraces overlook the Aegean and the coast of Turkey; the view is truly magnificent (especially sunrise). Breakfasts on the terrace with the home-made mandarin marmalade that Angeliki provides to her guests is without doubt one of the highlights of our stay in Chios.

Pictures of the rooms on the owner’s website and other tripadvisor reviews can be fully trusted. Everything is exactly as is described. From the apartment we could observe the fishermen’s activities at the small port of Vokaria.

The two nearby taverns were closed (end of September = end of season) but there are taverns at Nenita and there are also plenty of (fish)taverns at the nearby village of Kataraktis (10 minutes drive by car) and there is a good tavern at Gridia (15 minutes drive by car) which was open during the weekend.

If you are looking for a calm and relaxing place to stay for exploring the south part of Chios, you should seriously consider booking Amarandos Sea View Apartments. Angeliki, her husband Giorgios and their two little boys are doing everything they possibly can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Greek hospitality at its best !
