Sunil is great at over charging. I do not trust him and don't recommend staying here. We organised a trip to Yala that Sunil said he would take care of! Well we eventually arrived at about 2 in the afternoon (all the animals were asleep) and Sunil charged us for lunch packets that we dod NOT want. What a shambles!
New to Sri Lanka, I went straight to Sunil's Rest to have my new wardrobe just made in Vietnam ruined for ever - washing black silk with pale colours being an international no no, The food was the best I tasted - but was offset by the high standard of home-made pollution - in desperation, I ended up picking up the litter, moving the huge dumps of plastic bottles and tidying up the familiy's shoes. Unfortunately I don't write for Crowded Planets so though we got up at 0530h to go to see the wild life at Udawallawa, we did not arrive there until 1100h by which time all the animals were very sensibly snoozing out of sight. It was a weekend, and mistaking my generosity in suggesting that the family come too, my host decided to stop at an upmarket place for breakfast and "generously" "let"' me foot the bill. Where things REALLY got too much for me was when, giving a subtle interpretation to sexual harassment, my host eased his way into my room where i was writing post cards mid morning and ended up somehow fingering the anklet I was wearing. Fellow women travellers, what does one do under such circumstances? Screaming and running is hardly a suitable response - nor, I have finally decided, is keeping quiet. Live and Learn…
we stay this place on 11th Sept, it was my second visit, I came back since I had a great experience from my first stay. all went good, but I was disappointed with how owner treated when time of check out. he should learn about the hospitality, other than just selling rooms.
Clean room and bath room. New linen being put when checked in. Though on the main road it's calm and quiet. We checked ourselves into an ac room.walking distance to the sacred area. Very happy with the experience.
This place is conveniently located, modern and clean. For the amount I paid for an A/C room with TV, I considered it very good value The owner, Sunil, was very friendly and I had a very pleasant stay, occupying a spacious room at the back overlooking paddy fields.
