- I woke up in paradise...literally, slept to the calm waves of lake Malawi hitting the rocks surrounding my chalet and woke up to the birds singing as the rays of sunshine kissed my face good morning. This is really truly paradise with 5 star customer service and beautiful , Crystal clear waters.
Its never always the buzz and booze that gets you at most resorts, its actually how much quieter it can be during the day and the night. Makuzi Beach Lodge is a place where such peace actually exist. The beach is well taken care of and the water could never be more clearer. it bought back some nostalgic feel from when I was a child in Zambia, going off to school field trips into the wild. its so comfortable there, fans, kettle , to hot water for showering and clean toilets. There are no TVs in the rooms, but did you come for the TV or the experience, and that is the thing we loved about it. The Place gave you a choice of dropping Technology forcing you to indulge in other more physical activities. granted there are not a lot of activities apart from swimming, canoeing but I am sure the owners will get creative. go have a trip and experience it yourself, you will not be disappointed, i guarantee it.…
We stayed for 3 days at Makuzi and it was so relaxing. The staff is great and the restaurant serves fabulous food. The cabanas are comfy with lovely views. The beach is pristine and the lake water crystal clear. We had fun using the kayaks to explore around the lake.
After a very long drive with a border in between, it was wonderful to be so kindly received in such a nice place. It was 21h00 on new year's eve, but Bradt still offered to organize food and all we needed. New year's morning then surprised us with the most beautiful view to their beach. We had a very peaceful and plesant stay.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this amazing Lodge. We had the honeymoon chalet which had an amazing view of the lake. It was comfortable, clean and well maintained. All the staff are very attentive and Lara and Brett were super friendly and went our of their way to make our stay memorable. Brett even made cocktails (&mocktails) which weren't on the menu. The food is arguably the best in the nkhatabay region. Every single meal on the menu was fresh and delicious with sizeable portions. The chocolate cheesecake from the Christmas day lunch buffet was absolutely amazing. The beach has beautiful white sands with very large comfortable wooden beach chairs. The place is peaceful and tucked away from hustle and bustle. The only downside was the power outages which were due to a fault in the area. Perhaps in time they will acquire a generator that is able to supply the chalets that are further away from the main building. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we'll definitely go again next year.…
Beautiful white sand private beach is the main attraction. The bay has boundary of two small cliffs which gives a lot of bird life. Nice relaxing retreat. Friendly owners who will deliver all your needs. Must improve conditions of Chalet 2 & introduce something special like a Beach BBQ. Spectacular Location 🙏🇱🇰🙏
This is a Nice lodge for a day visit . The beach is beautiful And the food is good. To stay overnight this place is maybe a bit overpriced. The garden is like Paradise. Some things like the pay terminal were broken.
Lovely spot on Lake Malawi, far from any crowds. The chalets were comfortable, well-maintained and had views of the lake. Enjoyed the beautiful beach and sunrises. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant served wonderful meals. Great place to get away from it all!
A quiet, very scenic spot for relaxing or enjoying some time with family. The restaurant menu had a surprising number of choices, all of which were very good. The chalet accommodation is comfortable, set in a lush garden with views of the lake. Very friendly staff and well run. If we didn't live so far away we'd go back again and again!
This is definitely one of the best, if not THE best, camping spot in Malawi! The camping sites are situated in a lush garden with bountiful palms and other trees and plants, birds flying around, overlooking a stunning view of the lakeshore. The beach is clean and covered in lovely white sand. There are really nice chairs/beds with shades on the beach where you can easily fall asleep! What I really liked was that it felt so private which meant you could fully and completely relax. It was lovely that even the cleaners, who do not necessarily have to chat to the guests, were so lovely and friendly and took the time to chat to me and tell me a bit about themselves - it made me feel very welcome to this part of Malawi. The food was delicious. Our one recommendation would be to have a more diverse selection of desserts (e.g. chocolate brownie!!) as it's likely we would have had made the most of this!!! However, this did not take away our enjoyment from the experience in any way, and we would HIGHLY recommend Makuzi Beach Lodge!!…
