I would advise against staying at the Alimounda Mare hotel due to several concerning issues we encountered during our visit. Firstly, we had booked a premium room with a promised sea view and paid a premium price for it, but upon arrival, we were assigned a room with a disappointing tree obstructed view. These trees obstructed our view of the sea entirely, which was not what we had paid for. When I attempted to address this matter with the hotel's reception, I was directed to speak with George, the manager. However, my attempts to meet with George were met with evasive responses, as I was consistently told that he would "be here shortly" or "just left a few minutes ago." Furthermore, the hotel's amenities left much to be desired. The Wi-Fi service and internet connection were consistently weak and often non-functional. The room was not adequately cleaned, the water pressure in the shower was exceedingly low, the in-room safe was quite small, and the balcony lacked proper lighting, making it impossible to enjoy in the evenings for reading or relaxation. It is my belief that this hotel is better suited for large groups rather than individual guests. While its location is excellent, the management appears to be careless and unresponsive to guest concerns. If you are seeking a private vacation experience in Karpathos, I would recommend choosing a small boutique hotel with a well-regarded reputation for personalized management rather than opting for a larger hotel that fails to meet its guests' expectations. In summary, I believe that the Alimounda Mare hotel falls short of deserving a 5-star rating and would more appropriately be rated at 3 stars.

Very positively surprised! All the staff, reception, waiters, cleaners etc. have been very service minded and pleasant in every way, excellent. We have a sea view room which we would definitely recommend, the beds are very comfortable. A couple of things had to be straightened out in the room, the response was remarkable, all sorted out immediately. When it comes to the food, you are really spoiled for choice, every day something new. I’ve noticed the the food manager has his constant beady eye on things to a perfection, making sure things are done accordingly to the customers satisfaction. All in all, very good. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is beautiful location is great. But Service and staff members were not as good as we expected They let us feel unwanted smile and good morning did not come naturally. They should take more lessons about managing a business specifically a great hotel

The rooms were good, nice interior and okay cleanliness. The hotel could use som fixing. The whole week there was a lamp loose I the children’s pool, it was just lying at the bottom, but didn’t get fixed. Tiles missing around the pool and the ladder was loose too. The staff at the breakfast buffet was were rude. Rolling eyes and laughing at you when you asked for stuff. There is thin filter coffee for breakfast and when we asked if there was a possibility for a cappuccino, we were informed by the waiter that we could get 1 cappuccino pr person every morning. We waited the 30-40 mins for this. The next morning another waiter didn’t know about this, so we had to discuss it with the waiter every morning. The breakfast buffet was just ok. Powder scramble egg, dry croissants and has brown potato’s. Dirty dishes, and the staff was emptying dishes right next to your tables. We found out on day 3 that there was an omelette station. No signs to tell you that. You had to ask. But they were great at putting up signs with restrictions, they were all over the hotel. The worst part of the hotel is the hotel manager whom is very unprofessional and an openly anti-semitist (israelic people, STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!) I ordered a pedicure the last day in their “luxury spa”. Nothing luxurious about this. The same place where people leave their dirty towels. The “pedicurist” were clearly annoyed that I was coming. I was sat down in a leather chair with my feet on a high box. The tools wasn’t even washed or sanitised 🤢. It was the worst pedicure I have ever gotten. She filed the feet for 10 sec each and filed the nails too short and uneven. The shellac was all over my toes and the colour was uneven. (There was only 8 colours to choose from) I was charged 10 € extra to remove my previous shellac with a nail file!. The woman was FaceTiming her kids while she was doing my nails. So unprofessional! When I asked her if she could do my heels a little better I was told that she wasn’t strong enough and she didn’t have the tools for it. WTF. My legs hurt so much afterwards because of the position I was in. The pedicure was about 25 mins total. I get regular pedicures every month and this was just not a pedicure. I informed the reception about my experience and they weren’t sorry. I told them that I didn’t wanna pay full price because I had to get them redone when I got home. They would talk to the hotel manager. 4 hours later I hadn’t heard back so I went to the reception again and was informed that I didn’t have to pay. Good I thought, the first time in a week with some good customer service. When I came the next morning to check out I was told that I had to pay full price for the pedicure (40€). I informed them again about the experience and showed them pictures and that I was told the day before that I didn’t had to pay. They just didn’t care and told me to talk to the hotel manager my self. The hotel manager came and he was the most uncomfortable human I have ever encountered. He told me that I had to pay and I told him the story once again. Then he asked me “are you from Israel?” I told him no and he answered “you sound like one” Then he left and didn’t get me an answer. I went to check out again and the rude receptionist asked me what I wanted to do and I told that I would not pay for it. Then she said very rude “have a good flight back” and I asked her, should I still pay or no? And she repeated “have a good flight back” Never in my life have I experienced a hotel with such a rude staff and lack of service. It was not even close to being a 5-star experience. I will never set my foot back in this hotel and do not recommend this to anyone!! If you want to experience Karpathos, book another hotel!!

The hotel is situated in a lovely bay with a private beach and a great infinity pool. However, the service at the hotel leaves more to be desired. The receptionists didn’t hear about the policy of service with a smile. Every exchange I had with them was unpleasant. The hotel management do not want you to hand things on the balcony. However they do not provide the guests with any other solution to dry their bathing suits. In most hotels I’ve been there were either clotheslines in the bathrooms or some similar contraption. Not here. They care about this so much that they called my room at nine p.m. to ask me to take something off the balcony and woke up my daughter. In short, I don’t think this hotel is a 5-star hotel, at least not in its customer service. And the staff clearly needs either a long vacation or a new vocation.

I would say this is the one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at on the island. The food is good. The location is amazing and a quick walk to town. The morning buffet an omelette station is a definite bonus. We were there with my three kids and felt welcome the whole time.

We stayed in a family room, meaning two doubles connected with a door, the room was great! The bed was one of the best hotel beds i ever slept in! Our room was at the top floor with a great view of the ocean and the town as well! The breakfast was also very good, a lot of fresh fruits that I really like! The staff that we talked to was very service minded at nice. And my comment regarding the beach, it is really nice but yes there is a lot of rocks. But if you just walk like 50-100 m to the right you don´t have that... Overall, great hotel and experience!

Just came back from a 11 day stay at Alimounda Mare. I have been many times (11 times) to this hotel and this year it was absolutely the best experience. In some previous years the food was not alway up to par. But this year they hired an excellent Greek chef. Every evening lots of fresh food. Sometimes it was hard to choose, as there were so many options. Fresh food, not regular all inclusive/HP food you find in other hotels. Fresh fish, dorade, grilled octopus, grilled squid, all sorts of meat, the best pastas (not regular pasta, but such like pasta with ouzo, shrimps and mussels) and all kinds of meat and plenty of salads. And the deserts.... the best, every evening and day different options. I really hope that they will keep this chef, he is excellent. In previous years we regularly went for dinner in town, as some evenings the food was too basic, but this year the food was great. With every dish it is indicated if it is gluten free, for breakfast and dinner. The staff (most of them Greek) are very friendly. There is a new general manager. He is kind, approachable and if you have any special wishes, or a complain he will do this utmost to assist. Rooms are great. Boxsprings, great quality. Rooms are spacious, bathroom is spacious too and every day you a fresh and clean beach towel. Rooms have a safe, coffee/tea, and a large balcony and a well functioning ac. There is a small store in the hotel where you can buy water, sodas for a normal price (not overpriced) but also some essentials, such as sunscreen, some medication, and water toys. There is an excellent spa (in the basement) with an option to have a massage at the beach. There is also a small gym in the basement. The hotel has it own sunbeds and umbrellas, free of charge, just for hotel guests. Free of charger and are solid sunbeams with comfortable cushions. Staff is available to provide you with drinks or snacks. So you don't have to move if you don't want too. Please buy watershoes, as getting in the water is sometimes difficult due to stones. Staff overal is friendly and helpful. Especially in the restaurant. Manager (breakfast/lunch) at the restaurant, Giorgos (George) is the best. Lunch at the hotel is great. Every day they have fresh fish (catch of the day), and at great prices. Next to the hotel are two tavernas, Limaki and Seaside. So you do not have to move far for lunch or a drink. Three times a week live music (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday). Beautiful infinity pool. Plenty of sunbeds at the pool and beach. And if you have difficulties finding a subbed, you can contact one of the guys at the pool/beach and they will get you one. The staff does everything to make you happy. This year they invested in an excellent chef (who arrived at the end of May, replacing another chef), a general manager that runs the hotel very smoothly. I always wondered if he ever sleeps... you see him all day, making sure you are happy. I realize that this is a very positive review, but I was simply surprised by the level of food by this new chef. I hope Almonda Mare will keep this chef. I love Greek food and it was the best. Secondly one of the waiters asked if there was something that was missing. And I said I would love some grilled haloumi. The next day there was grilled haloumi. Some lady asked for churros for desert, within days there were churros. So please ask if you have any wishes, they really do their utmost. The hotel is not cheap during high season, but it is definitely worth the money.
