Everything at Porto Bellisario was like a dream from another time. And space.
Outstanding service, excellent accomodation and a sight to die for.
Time does not exist here.
Southeast Crete captivates with its beauty, tranquility, austerity and space.
An ideal place. For someone who wants to enjoy the scorching sun and the cleanest sea on Earth.
So beautiful that we spent the whole stay on the edge of the beach, in a charming cove, right under Porto Bellisario. A beauty of serenity that is irresistible.
Beautiful place. Incredibly beautiful.
5 out of 5. Simply Stellar.
Rooms are modern , equipped with air conditionining, big bathroom , comfortable bed.

It has been my third visit already and I have already booked my next stay there.
Thank you to the entire Porto Belissario team - it is thanks to you that the stay is a highlight of the year each time.
I stayed in Porto Belissario for 11 days - from 2 agust untill 13 august 2014, with my 3 friends. The hotel is placed in Ferma, nice and calm place - ideal for relax. We have chosen this place in order to avoid crowded turistic resorts and it was also good starting point for our planned trips to Chrissi isle and south Crete beaches and sightseeings.
We have decided for hotel Porto Belissario based on good references published on Trip Advisor web. The hotel is nice and clean, food is fine and the pool area is well maintained. But...
Me and my friend had room number 108, ground floor, mountains view, nice and large room, but not very secured as we recognized later. We had no safe in the room. Our balcony was easily accessible from outside, therefore we allways locked balcony door for sure. We noticed that cleaning service used to leave balcony unlocked after the cleaning. At that time we did not consider to be necessary to go to discuss this with the manager of the hotel. However one day we discovered that we were robbed. Somebody took chance and entered our room through the unlocked balcony and stole cash from my purse placed in my suitcase, my friend found his clothes reorganized on the chair. We contacted manager of the hotel. She adviced us to wait for camera records. We waited until next morning, but no one contacted us with the results. When my friend asked her for the status he was ignored and was left without any explanation. We figured out that no such records including area of our balcony were made and thus no evidence was available. The incident remained without response. Management discussed with us no more on this. No compensation, no consolation, no support from hotel management. Based on this experience I definitely can not recomend this hotel.
This simple but stylish hotel caters mainly for couples, some with older children; they know their market and they satisfy it remarkably well. The clientele, all politely greeting each other in the mornings, seem to come mostly from Germany, Holland, Czechoslovakia and Poland.
The swimming pool area looks just like a David Hockney painting: bright blue pool excellent for swimming (no real shallow area), stainless steel rails guarding the perimeter (like a cruise liner) and elegant wooden slatted deck chairs in fixed positions supplemented by movable sun beds.
The pool and grounds are spotlessly maintained by the site manager – a man of few words!
Our room was spacious with a huge balcony area overlooking the bay. Do pay extra for a proper sea view – it’s well worth it. There are external stairs up to the upper rooms (no lifts) so check room location if you have limited mobility. There are more steps down to the beach in the bay below the hotel – shallow and seemingly safe for good sea swimming. Aircon cooled our large room satisfactorily when the external temperature was 39 degrees. There was a consistently good wifi signal. Sky News on the TV for those wanting to keep in touch with the news.
Breakfasts are excellent – plenty of choice. Go for the half board option at €15 each extra per day. Good value, especially since there aren’t really any other dining out options close by. The salad bar is particularly good. The short wine list is reasonably priced - €12 / 15 per bottle.
Service is cheerful and courteous: Sofia, Eleni and Theodora were all very helpful and friendly. Dimitra presides over the whole establishment with calm efficiency.
If you want to crash out for a few days, get away form it all and slow the pace down for a while this hotel would be a good choice.
Warmly recommended!
Beautiful sea view rooms and a "natural" very clean beach private beach without sun beds or umbrellas.
Great service, from the always smiling staff.
The village of Ferma, has nothing interesting...
Hotel is located about 80-90 minutes from Heraklion airport, 15-20 minutes eastly from Ierapetra, most southly city in Greece. Whole more than 50 kilometres long area Myrtos-Ierapetra-Ferma and more eastly is reach on many perfect quiet beaches. There you can swim when on north is too windy. Perfect start point for wide spectrum of activities - swimming, sunbathing, hiking, historical places. To go when you are loooking for absolutely quiet and relaxing accomodation.
Now back to hotel itself:
1. One of the most helpful, nice and accomodating staff and services ever. Extremely over 3 stars hotel level !!!
2. Family atmosphere - only 33 rooms I think
3. One of largest hotels outdoor pools I seen ever
4. Small beach 2-3 minutes downstairs, secluded but without umbrellas
5. As my wife said hotel is permant working on growing of quality - accomodation, meals etc.
6. No problem with foreign languages - hotel manager Dimitra and her staff too
