Stayed here between Christmas and just after NY. Overall the Hotel was very good, its has a lovely ambiance. The food was very good and plentiful. The rooms were great apart from one of the rooms we had which was quite dark with not enough lighting. It also had good amenities for the kids with the games rooms and climbing walls.
For me the only downsides were
the size of the changing rooms in the pool were way to small. It was like a tin of sardines during busy periods.
Housekeeping seems an issue in that we put the signs out for the rooms to be cleaned but waited 2 days for them to do it. Even then all they did was empty the bins.
Location - Ski In/Out is great and for beginners/kids as having the green run outside is brilliant, however it is outside of the main ski area and you have to ski over to the other side. The lifts were very busy and if they were closed then you really have no way of getting to the other runs. There seems to be limited food options around there for lunch also.

Great hotel with all facilities. Fantastic suite albeit a bit expensive. Could have some more indoor activities for kids of ages 10-15 after a long day of skiing. Good indoors parking with charging facilities for EV. Perfect location.

If you like peace and quiet , this is the place to go. Very remote. Just one big hotel and apartments. Travelled from Gatwick to Oslo then bus transfer to the hotel. We stayed in one of the apartments over Christmas. Next to the hotel and ski shop. We were half board and glad we did as no supermarket around, not ideal if you don't have a car, too far to walk too. No navette or many local taxis. But food at restaurants was really good lots of choices. I have never tasted smoked salmon so tender. 😋 Appartment was nice and cozy, you have everything you need. But we did not have the same service of the hotel guests, like no cleaning or changes of towels or rubbish picked up. I would say its more for the locals. The Spa - adults only- is really good, you have to order your slot early in advance as can be very busy, a small charge per person but worth it. You can enjoy the sunset in the infinity pool. The hotel swimming pool gets very busy after 3pm when the skiing stops. The ski shop is located in the basement of the hotel, the staff is really helpful. We travelled with Crystal Holidays who had organised everything. And it went very smoothly. The pistes are not too busy which is great you don't have to queue long to get on ski lifts. The only activities are skiing, alpine or cross country. And long walks. No luge or rackets, no excursions available. But the scenery is amazing, luckily we had lots of snow. Temperature not as cold as I expected. - 10 at most. We had some skiing lessons again as it was 5 years since our last trip but my husband and I were in a group with 3 kids who obviously were more confident, I feel we had all different level abilities, so there was not much teaching but more like tag along and keep up . Did not feel our instructor was very helpful . Unfortunately I hurt myself before I could try the cross country skiing which is very popular over there . People ski with their dogs So as already mentioned it is a remote location so make sure you take enough pain killers in case of injury as again no shop no pharmacy around and the A&E is 40 kms away!

Booked this for my partners birthday and I have to say never again! When we arrived had to wait 5 hours for a room which by the time we got in it had not been cleaned or stocked with towels or toilet roll, I went to complain and they upgraded us to another room which was appreciated, however since the days have gone on more and more has disappointed us. The hygiene of the place is just unacceptable, we thought the room when we arrived hadn't been cleaned but by the standards here it must of been our room hasn't been touched in 2 days! We have found someone else's dirty flip flops, leggings, old pizza boxes and an empty bottle of processco around the room! The tables are sticky and glasses have marks on when served. The spa's outside pool (main advert) was closed but still charge you for full use of facilities. The restaurant you have to book is a buffet with poor choice of food. You simply are stuck with the hotel due to location, so cannot explore alternatives for evening activities. The staff are nice enough and not their fault but managements! Too many guests to staff ratio they don't seem like they can cope with the amount of traffic that passes through this place. The slopes are nice but could do with more chair lifts. As you expect from a hotel the odd noise but this hotel is like a factory/school with ski boots and children's screaming constantly not much time for sleep or rest. No translation on most things such as menus and maps only Norwegian so google translate is definitely needed and sometimes gets it wrong thought we ordered a chicken pizza actually ham. Overall have to say I rarely review unless I am really shocked by the standards of a place and unfortunately this place has warranted time spent on holiday writing this so others do not make the same mistake I did by thinking they are booking a nice ski break.

"Hotel factory" without service. We stayed 4 people - two adults and two children - in a suite at the hotel at the end of December. We had been looking forward to the stay based on the very nice descriptions on the hotel's website. However, our experience was a "hotel factory" without any service at all. We had 6 nights and at no time did we manage to get the room cleaned. Even though we had the "Please make up the room" sign on the door continuously for 5 days from day 2, it never happened. Additionally, we personally went to the reception three times and asked to have the room cleaned a bit - for example, empty the trash and just vacuum a little. Each time it was diligently noted at the reception - but nothing ever happened. Our kitchen hood didn't work - and twice we had to ask to have someone look at it. No one ever came to look at it - and in the end, I fixed it myself. The breakfast is really good - but otherwise, it is not a great dining experience. The "Matbaren" at the hotel makes very simple dishes, with a very limited selection, which is really boring. In general, the hotel is very worn out - and very impersonal. The hotel resembles an old cruise ship that has run aground in the Norwegian mountains. It is isolated, and there are no opportunities to buy even the smallest necessities once you have boarded. Therefore, make sure to buy some snacks and drinks before you head up to the hotel. The nearest supermarket is 25 minutes away by car - and it costs a toll fee of 85 NOK each time you drive down the mountain. There is a nice little children's slope at the hotel and the hotel has good facilities for ski in/out.

Norefjell is undoubtedly in a special part of the world, with great wilderness views of southern Norway's landscape.
The fairly consistent sub-zero temperatures in Feb also seem to allow for less ice-ridden pistes or mushy snow, although there are some exceptions regarding ice on the more heavily used runs, depending on the weather or time of day (what you'd expect). The button and T-bar lifts that provide access to the two largest pistes directly outside the hotel are a little too close to one another, in my view. Skiers may want to take the weight off their feet to rest them after a spirited attempt at these runs, but these particular styles of lift simply don't allow for this at all, which is frustrating. If you find your feet feel "hard done by" a lot earlier in your ski session than you'd expect, no it's not just you, not at all. The good news is that there are chair lifts available in other parts of the piste map. So, it's a minor hiccup, really.
The food in the hotel is generally of a pretty good quality. Although, the more picky diners out there may struggle with some limited choice across the buffet restaurant near the reception and the smaller cafe-style restaurant located on one of the hotel's lower floors.
While an option, I would not recommend booking sledging as an activity at this resort unless you're familiar with the specific modern, plastic sledges the resort allows you to hire. At the time of writing, these have a steering wheel/yoke that controls a ski in the middle of the sledge for steering. They are not traditional wooden sledges or inflatable donut-type things. These plastic sledges are much, much faster than their toy-like appearance would suggest and not as easy to control as you might imagine at first glance (if you've never used one before). If you feel you must have a go on one, please ask the staff running the activity how to use them before trying one out. They may not tell you unless you ask first. The lack of a pre-activity briefing was a bit perplexing. I'll say no more on the subject.
Noise in the hotel was a little bit of an issue at times. It wasn't uncommon to hear children shouting or screeching in the hotel corridors at irregular periods throughout the day, with apparently nobody present to tell them to be quiet. A nearby room on the floor above mine also appeared to start moving furniture around at around 2 AM in the morning, for reasons that were only apparent to them. Luckily, this only happened once. The nights were otherwise mostly predictable and non-disruptive.
I'd say I enjoyed my stay overall, and it seemed like a viable alternative to the more well-trodden (and perhaps generic) Alpine ski holiday. Give it a go! It's also important to stress that the spa facilities are excellent. However, as highlighted, there were a few specific things I wasn't keen on and that you may not be either, depending on your own preferences.

1. Make sure that those in the reception are in Norwegian/English, or at least give the impression that you do not understand. It was especially a long Danish, but dark hair and glasses, which I had to go behind the reception and help find what I was going to have. So it was "completely dark."
2. The buffet and the food bar. - The food bar when gratinating something, it is not enough to put a sweaty Jarlsberg slice on top of the meat just before serving. It's just disgusting. And when it says that something should be cooked with garlic and there's not a hint of garlic in the dish, then I'm a jerk. The good sales on the menu, and then you get a product that did not deliver up to expectations at all. - Buffett: Significantly better than last time we were with you, but it still lacks the little one who gets the food experience from simple, to very good. First and foremost, the lack of salt use. Several of the dishes do not come to their dish because not the kitchen salts and tastes the food. It was served right-back by cattle bla. The meat was tough and dry and the sauce/cloud in it was similarly tasteless. Any chef with respect for himself knows that the right back is the raw material for hamburgers, and if it is to be served in pieces/dough, you must give it enough heat treatment before it is muddy. At breakfast there were glasses with shrimp in water, totally tasteless. Better and leave it in its sheets so that it retains the taste in any case a bit. The anthurium file served was almost a tier, should only have a little lunk, otherwise perfectly fried and flavored with salt and pepper on the leather side.
3. Terrassen: - If it is intended so one should sit there and enjoy, genre over time, with views and something good in the glass one should look at changing the chairs. It is best in church, where it is intended that one should not fall asleep and suffer a little for their divine sins. Something you could put yourself back in and that was a little soft under the "lort-fall", would have been preferable.
4. The room (3118). First and foremost, we greatly appreciated the upgrade as this was a weekend for celebrating 10th anniversary. It was good, good beds and good space. The room itself... Again, it doesn't come all the way up on the pallet. I want to pull out salad residues in the sink, lamp attachments that wind and throw over kitchen boards, and a sliding door out which is not possible to lock.
So to sum up, there's a whole bunch of petty stuff / slurry, which makes you not come up completely. And that's a great pity, because there's so little to be from being a nice hotel to being "The Hotel".

A nice place with a great view, but be aware of their arrogance if you complain about anything. Staff is mostly unprofessional younger people without proper training in how to provide customer service. I complained about something unsatisfactory during lunch (scrambled eggs made from powder) and they told me I was wrong. We were on a business trip, and many of us reacted that they actually pulled this kind of cheap trick, and then denied it. Also, they will start hammering on your door 1 hour before checkout, and evenenter your room (saying "oh, excuse me"). Planned disrespectful behaviour. I cannot recommend this hotel. Go elswhere.

Crowded resort. Nice and well maintained property, but very much a disappointment versus price and quality. Did not get the feeling of being a guest. Service is kind of not existing. Feels like a huge assembly line more than a quality resort. Food is expensive and the quality mediocre. 210 kroner for a 0.6 liter draft beer. Soggy pizzas for four people above 800 kroner. Because of COVID you have to preorder everything. We stayed three nights in a large suite for four people; the room was not serviced during the stay; not even clean towels or toilet paper delivered. Access to the wellness are is additional 300 per person. The best thing with our stay was to spend time outdoors enjoying the phenomenal surrounding nature, eating quality food outside the resort. Would not recommend this place except for families with small children (and it was tons of them already). Unfortunately this resort will probably still survive and deliver average experiences without service to an unreasonable high cost. The location and facilities deserves a higher service atmosphere! Next time we will spend our money at a more authentic quality hotel with a soul and service atmosphere - avoiding the feeling being ripped off.

We booked an apartment in the village that is part of the hotel, and the experience was unfortunately disappointing. Standard in the apartment was miserable, characterized by wear and old equipment. The kitchen fan fell apart, and there was no pledge or anything that made it cozy – everything seemed impersonal and sad.
The breakfast was of low standard, with food reminiscent of “first price” products, and there was no way to order proper coffee. The playroom for the children was also a great disappointment, almost without toys.
The only positive was the short distance to the ground, which makes the overall experience a weak 2/5. No coffee machine in the apartment pulls further down.

We were there in July, so not really in a position to answer a question regarding April. The month of April is usually a gamble - very late in ski season and you never can be sure. It can be plenty of snow, it can be little snow patches only left. The place is not at a high altitude to guarantee snow in April, like glaciers in Switzerland or so. Not sure this is of help.
