We selected this resort for its mixture of facilities for my wife and I and meeting up with my son and his family. It was advertised has having 4 restaurants and indicating that there were many restaurants nearby. The book in process was lamentably slow and seemed to be suffering from a lack of well informed staff. Having said that, the staff themselves were outstanding. They were engaging, polite and always eager to please, a feature that ran through the whole of the establishment. We reserved a room in the more modern, "hotel" block. The room was excellent and had pleasant views over the site. My son, however, was not so fortunate. He had reserved a small villa but within minutes had insisted on a change of room. The villa was dark, old and much overgrown on the outside. He was moved to the modern block whic he found more acceptable. Both of us, while enjoying the rooms themselves, were mystified by the inability to enjoy showers. The mixer taps in the shower were impossible to "tune" to get a moderate water temperature. You either suffered cold or scalding hot water no matter how long you tried to adjust it. This seemed to be symptomatic of the resort. Something that was built many years ago but in need of a major makeover. There were a couple of issues with lifts not working which seemed to take time to fix and keys for the rooms which stopped working. As for the restaurants, the 4 advertised were in fact 2. The main Thai one which had a delightful view, served excellent food with excellent service. The remaining one was what I would describe as the cafeteria (it was where breakfast was served) and catered for simpler meals in the evening. The advertised Tapas restaurant was closed for reconstruction. It would have been nice to know that when the reservation was made. The remaining option was described as the bar restaurant by the beach. In fact it was just a bar and if you wanted food, it had to be brought down from a kitchen elsewhere on the site. If you wanted to eat out, it was simply too far to walk on a road without pavements and required taxis which took time to organize. In summary, the whole site seemed out of date and certainly required a major upgrade or redesign. The top feature was the quality of the staff who made every effort to make one's stay agreeable. I would not repeat the visit.

Great service by staff all around, quick check-in, though check-out took a while because of a disputed bill, but all done with superb friendliness and smiles. 😄 Room was average of size but had great sea facing view, meticulously clean and ample sized bathroom with an outdoor tub! The breakfast service crew were excellent and ever friendly and always at your service with a smile. They even came all out with a cute pancake for my daughter's birthday! 🥳 The main pool and beach were a bit far from our room but the Leelavadee long pool was just down our block and was superb for a few quiet laps and the kids to have fun around. All pools provided ice cold infused water, clean towels within reach. Will love to be back again. 😄

I just want to make sure that the team at Renaissance Koh Samui gets all the praise/credit/respect they deserve! We usually don't spend much time on-property on vacation as we like to get out and explore the location, but we ended up eating almost every meal and at the hotel and enjoying the amenities because of the team. I went to the resort with my partner for our anniversary, and it was my favorite Marriott experience ever. The resort was, of course, stunning and well-appointed, but the team was really outstanding. Every person went above and beyond to be friendly and hospitable at every touch point, but it felt genuine and of their own initiative. We're trying our best to recount all the names, and I know we are missing a few, but some included Bud, Dome, Tai Tai, Baifern, New, Chef, Mint, Bang-On, Munich, Sugar, White etc.

I recently completed a 2 night stay at the Renaissance Samui. Firstly the stay was fantastic, the service was excellent throughout the moment of arrival until check out. The mango ice cream on arrival was a nice touch. Starting with positives: - Amazing service, very friendly staff - Private beach area - Excellent swimming pool overlooking the beach, with a second swimming pool nearby the gym area - the buffet breakfast was great Now the only reason for not giving 5 stars was I felt the room was outdated (or at least the pool villa I stayed in). It felt really dull and aging. The bathtub didn't function one night. No UK sockets which the majority of Bonvoy hotels would have available. The villa was still nice, however I was left abit disappointed in the room I was allocated. The other comment would be the fitness centre again looks very aged, far too small. It's not like the quality of a 5* fitness centre.

I visit Koh Samui often, and this Renaissance property becomes my home-away-from-home. Needless to say, its beachfront location in Lamai surrounded by turquoise water is truly awesome. Once I finish checkin and pass through the reception on the way to my villa I immediately feel like having been to a paradise covered with lots of trees and other plantations. I could hear various types of birds singing beautifully everywhere. From what I saw one could tell how great and consistent efforts the gardeners have made on preserving such eco-friendly environment with a view to creating perfect habitats for the wildlife and, much more importantly, enhancing guests’ overall experience and level of comfort during their stays. All facilities are well maintained and fully functional. As a Bonvoy Elite member, I received an exceptionally warm welcome at checkin and a courtesy room upgrade to a garden villa with private pool where I could take a refreshing dip to cool myself down after soaking up the sun. My room was nicely decorated with the “welcome-back” set-up, and I deeply applaud their creativity and sense of care in going the extra mile to celebrate my return in such a meaningful way. Towards this end, I would like to extend my gratitude to all passionate and caring associates under the leadership of Khun Nong (the General Manager) for their wholehearted commitment to delivering the Renaissance brand experience to the finest level. I have to mention a few of them who made enormous devotion to their work in ensuring my stay to be one of the pleasant, enjoyable and flawless ever. They include Khun Chin (the Director of Operations) for his continuing assistance on reservations, room assignment and various operational matters; Khun Bud (the Front Office Manager) and her team of associates; Khun Seng (the Chief Chef) and his chef team at the Banana Leaf Restaurant such as Chef Kai, Chef Paul, Chef Nat, Chef Pinmook etc. for their preparation of yummy breakfast and my favourite fresh juice of each day; the Restaurant servicing team such as Khun Woody, Khun Game, Khun Nisa, Khun Munich, Khun Kik and others for their excellent service and hospitality; Khun Kim and other janitors for their great efforts on keeping everywhere neat and clean. Apart from the above, I would like to also send across my heartfelt compliments to two persons in particular, being Khun White of the Front Office Team and my housekeeper Khun Eye. Khun White is a highly attentive, responsive and hospitable personnel. She has a cheerful personality and often greets guests with a big smile. On one night I reported to the team about the malfunctioning of hot water supply in the shower room. She took swift actions by coordinating with the engineering team for an immediate inspection as well as following up continuously with the technician as well as me to make sure the problem was totally resolved. The extent of seriousness and professionalism of Khun White towards execution of her duties as a Front Office staff truly worths the management’s attention. Besides, Khun Eye, the primary housekeeper of my villa, also did an amazing job. She managed to set up all the amenities and make up my room to a perfect condition every day under the intense heat. I very much appreciate her hard work and devotion. Renaissance has already become my beloved “second home” on Koh Samui. Should any of my travel plans bring me back to there in the near future I will definitely revisit this fascinating property and meet with the lovely team again for a truly unforgettable experience.

My wife and I were to visit another resort in Lamai. However, our expectations of that resort were uncomfortable. At the last minute we cancelled and booked the Renaissance Resort. A decision well made! On arrival at the airport our hotel shuttle service was waiting. We drove to the resort in an immaculately clean car. On arrival at the resort we met Mai (Activities Manager) . She welcomed us with happiness and professionalism. As our garden villa was still being cleaned for us Mai had us taken to the pool bar so we could have cold drinks and a light lunch. A lovely young lady Zee welcomed us , gave us a table in the shade and served us with cold refreshments. Lunch was ordered and to our surprise it was free of charge due to delay in having our villa serviced. A wonderful way to celebrate our holiday. On arrival to our villa (109) we were greeted by our house keeping staff. I wish to pass on our thanks to Eye our house keeper. A wonderful example of friendship and as usual every day our villa was spotlessly cleaned. My wife loved the little messages Eye left on our bed each day. Our daily evening drinks poolside was enjoyable. Dome the waiter always wanted to chat about Lamai and what to see and do. Breakfast buffet each morning in the restaurant was great. Fresh, hygienic, delicious and very friendly staff. In particular Game who always greeted us with a smile. His attention to detail and service is very much appreciated. Thank you Game . On our checkout again we experienced the wonderful example of Mai and her professional approach. The resort has a relaxed atmosphere which makes the whole experience at Renaissance Resort perfect. Mai is a wonderful asset to your organisation. Checkout was seamless and or course the resort shuttle service back to the airport was perfect. Yes, we will come back again. Yes we had a great stay .

Great resort The Renaissance Samui ist a great resort. It does not fail to impress with a jungley flair amidst a beautiful garden combined with the most attentive and friendly staff and service. Choices at the breakfast buffet are various, you can select from pastries and charcuterie, cheese or salads as well as fresh hot dishes (western and thai or oriental), juices, fresh fruit or order from a variety of egg-based specialties. There's something for every taste.  You can chose to take a seat outside and enjoy the beautiful view over the bay or to stay inside the restaurant. We had dinner twice at the hotel-own tawaNN restaurant and enjoyed artisan authentic Thai food as well as a stunning view on the sunset. There are two pools available, the main pool at the beach alongside the poolbar and another one perfect for swimming lanes at the roomsite. There are several places to chose from for lying at the beach, either up front or a little bit more secluded on the side in the shadow of a natural rock formation. The water is really shallow, especially during low tide, but you can got for a swim nonetheless. We stayed in a garden view room, which was in the apartment section of the resort. It's across the road, but you can cross safely as there's a bridge leading from the lobby to the apartment complex. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. Each room has a balcony with an own little jacuzzi. There are also rooms with an own little pool at the resorts main site, but as we attended the beachside every day, we didn't see it necessary for us. You can join several activities or use the shuttle bus to Lamai or Chaweng twice a day. The biggest plus for us was the friendly staff, especially Game, Munich and Woody, who always made us feel welcome and were always helpful and joyous. A thing that could have been a little better is the mediocre WiFi connection, there are places at the beach where you don't get a signal at all. Note: There are insects getting into the room, so don't forget a repellant. We even had a gecko once (good for us), but also a spider, which was quickly exterminated after informing the staff.
