We had a very spacious, clean room to make our stay really comfortable. All rooms are equipped and decorated with taste. Sea view is guaranteed, with a 5 min walk to the nearest (sandy) beach. Our room also had a spacious terrace (of course with sea view) to spent pleasant evenings on sunset breeze. Fantastic breakfasts are prepared by kyria Maria. Evrey day she makes something different. Starts with greek yoghurt topped by a variety of fresh fruits, honey and some nuts, then a Karpathian style dish follows. If you wish, she prepares also "classical" breakfast. Lemonade is good, too. The only bemol were mosquitos, so get a plug-in device for them. However, try to avoid the restaurants at the Votsalakia beach, especially Calypso, where food was spoiled with some unexpected toppings etc. Plus service was so-so. The restaurants and tavernas at the Southern end of Amoopi might be better, but then you have to go by car - when in the car, it's worth of driving 5-6 km (3-4 miles) to Pigadia where there's plenty of good tavernas. If you'd prefer staying in your room, kyria Maria can prepare you a small dish to enjoy on the terrace. Also, you can get pletny of useful information from kyria Maria and her husband Michalis - where to go and what to see in the island.

My husband and I stayed 8 days at this beautiful Hotel. Maria is everything you will ever need in a host and someone you would love as a friend too, in another life. Her eye for detail in the most exquisite items around the Hotel adds to the ambience and beauty of the space around you, add relaxation music that is playing at breakfast, the summer warmth and the blue of the Ocean and there really isn’t anything left to desire. Apart that is from the wonderful hand made breakfast that Maria, in her spare time, prepares just for you, with lashings of coffee which she just knows you need. Our apartment was also just as tastefully decorated and had 2 huge balconies and everything you needed for an unforgettable Boutique Hotel stay. This area around the Hotel is equally wonderful with several bay/beaches and walks with Tavernas and bars available. This unusual year though they were either not open or closing early so the normal September activity was difficult to judge. Pigadia is a short drive away which contains everything from restaurants and bars, to shops and a harbour to walk along. You will meet the friendliest people and if you are lucky, enjoy good company! Maria as mentioned in other reviews is a mine of information and will help to recommend any trips or places of interest that you require. We really really didn’t want to leave and it took quite some “pulling myself together” not to become emotional on the last day. The dream now being, when to return and for so much longer. Thank you Maria for such wonderful memories.

The altea boutique hotel has everything to make a dream holiday come true. Everything is just perfect, form spaceous rooms made with love, to great views. It is located just perfectly not far away from Karpathos capital (a few minutes by car) but it is very quiet and other locations can be reached very easely. We had a big apartement with two big balconies. The place was spottlessly clean and the garden is just as nice. Breakfast was very nice but the places highlit, a 10 for the owner: Maria. She is always there with a smile and a good suggestion for things to do around the island. She helped us organise serveral trips and recommended us the nicest restaurants and beaches. It was a trip like coming home to her place. We were very sad to leave and can only recommend this place. Thank you Maria for the great time!

We stayed at a 1-bedroom apartment for a week and absolutely loved it. First, Maria, the owner, is extremely thoughtful in everything that she does -- from welcoming you to decorating every single corner of the property, to sharing tips of where to eat and see beautiful sunrises, to even sharing with guests the food she prepares for her family (and the super tasty breakfast, almost forgot that)!! Second, the apartment was beautiful -- very well decorated, spacious, with plenty of light, perfect terrace, and stunning views. I also cooked many meals and there was everything you needed. And finally the location is perfect. It's walking distance to Amoopi bay and the beaches (5 minute walk), but far enough that it is quiet all day and calm -- almost as if you were in the middle of the island away from everything. Cannot recommend this place enough! We will definitely be back :-)
