Like an island within an island, this is GRAND BAY BEACH RESORT. Understated design, attention to detail, instinctive hospitality, tasteful food and a personalised approach are only a few of the ingredients which make our small "island" a very special getaway, ideal for those who seek tranquillity and calmness, excellent cuisine, and upgraded spaces and services.GRAND BAY BEACH RESORT is located directly on the 3 km long beach of the scenic fishing village of Kolymbari, amongst scenery of unparalleled beauty, and near settlements that retain their traditional Cretan character, just 23 km west of the most picturesque town of Crete, Chania and about 35km away from its international airport.

We stayed for 2 weeks in September in a sea view shared pool room. This was a very good choice as I think we would have had a problem getting a sunbed otherwise. Our room got the sun for a good amount of time during the day, others were not so good and lost the sun quickly. Staff were very good and very polite, special thanks to waiter in a la carte restaurant who was excellent and provided some good wine choices. Food in a la carte very good. Buffet food was fine but felt a bit canteen like. This was only down to the measures hotel had to put in place because of Covid though. There are some nice tavernas strolling distance away and well worth a visit. I don’t think it would have been worth upgrading to ultra all inclusive, didn’t seem to add much and standard all inclusive was good

I stayed at the Grand Bay Resort 3rd September to 16th September 2020. I found it a fantastic hotel the staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Junior suite with private/shared pool. The room was spacious and came with our own sunbaths which I found to be brilliant as it saves the hunt every morning for our sunbaths. My only suggestion would be slightly better WiFi as I wasn’t great in the rooms however that is me hunting for a fault and in the grand scheme of things it a minor one at that. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Great stay.

Had a superb 7 day break at the Grand Bay. They were very welcoming and automatically offered us the all inclusive up to 16.00 on the day of our departure as we had arrived late on the day if our arrival. The food and drink is excellent and the way they have dealt with Covid restrictions is first rate. The only one drawback and I hasten to add it is being sorted during the winter months is that a new break water in the harbour has pushed stronger tides toward the hotel. This has caused a small amount of landslip but as I say this is being addressed before next season. Makes for great breakers on the beach. Would happily recommend to anyone.

We had a very nice stay here, 4 nights on all inclusive rate, left super relaxed. The rooms are very big so there is plenty of room to unpack and make yourself at home. Beds were very comfy. We had a balcony with sea view on 1st floor which was a lovely experience, morning and evening. The food in the restaurant (Azzurro) was very good, we only discovered this towards the end of our stay, otherwise we would have eaten here every night. The buffet in the inclusive was only ok so we used it at lunch time and went out to restaurants in Kolymbari in the evenings (there was a great choice). The pool facility was amazing, great poolside service from the small team working there. We had no trouble getting beds but it was probably quieter than usual. I can see that a pool side bedroom would prevent any problems with this but you would want a pool side room facing the main pool I think (close to the bar). Few downsides: no good coffee for whole time we were there (I think there might have been coffee in room in non Covid times) - even at the bar they tended to use instant even though there was a coffee machine. No conditioner provided, you will need some as they have hard water. We didn't get any orientation at reception so we found things by ourselves, would have benefited from some intro to the resort.
