One of the best 5 Star hotels I've been to. Staff excellent, went Al choice of premium brand drink better than expected. Lunch my 🐠 was over cooked but was replaced with a smile 😀 and was just right. I'm not a large guy about 5ft 11 and 14 stone but when I put the supplied dressing gown on it didn't wrap around fully and left a gap. There were 2 in the room but the other one was the same. Told reception who arranged another gown but it was the same as the other 2.Reception said one size fits all,it became a running joke. Excellent location close to shops and small marina, Weather not great so some facilities closed like the beach but didn't spoil the holiday. Would visit Avra again, couldn't fault it. Went to Chania very expensive government tax of 24% on food and drink.

Big hotel with high standard. All inclusive really is all inclusive, incl room service and a la carte, wine list and all the bottles/brands in the bar. High cleanliness both in rooms and grounds. Rooms correspond to website descriptions and pictures None of the pools are heated, so a bit refreshing… this time of the year (Oct) the sea is warmer. Snorkling from beach is good. Octopus and old amphora. Big praise of Avra Seaside team. Best food and best atmosphere of friendliness and service. Some minor food prep issues experienced in restaurants are enough to drop a star, so full score.

Beautifull resort, bery nice pools and lovely sea-side restaurant/bar with very friendly service. I also liked the fact that not only the local drinks are included in the all inn. Some really nice rums, whiskys and gins are also included. We had a very relaxing experience!

An amazing hotel and so are the staff. As soon as we arrived we were made very welcome. Throughout our stay Kristina, Vicky, Maria and her co-workers met all of our needs. The Service was friendly, fast and done very professionally. They went out of their way for my birthday surprise requested by my daughters. The staff is really incredible! Always a smile on their faces, it seems they do love their jobs. Zoe and Kalia from the travel office were extremely helpful to get us on a boat trip at short notice. The hotel itself is very clean, and well taken care of. The Spa area is great but I would have preferred more saunas to choose from. My massage therapists Sofia and Janis were perfect and were able to help me with my problem. The only criticism I have is that the music in the spa was too loud for my liking. It did not feel relaxing. The breakfast buffet also was truly amazing. Anything, everything – wow! All in all we had a very pleasant stay and I had a nice break from my daily routine. Again a huge thank you to every member of staff for their dedication and hard work. You made a lot of effort to make our stay feel good

I had a great week's stay at Avra. It was a family trip - myself, sibling and our mother as a milestone birthday treat for her. We loved the hotel! Beautiful modern grounds, very clean deluxe room with a shared pool. Although the pool is shared with the rooms next door, it still felt very private as we often havd the pool to ourselves. Several pools on the premises and pool bars provide lots of places to lounge as well as great restaurant options too. Good cocktails and food! The staff were great, friendly and informative - easy to book excursions on site too. Perfect for a relaxing break but a bit quiet if you'd like evening entertainment/evenings out in a local area, although there are some restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Overall I'd certainly return and have already recommended this place to others.

My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and wanted to pick a luxury hotel with some privacy and enjoy our time together (first holiday alone in 14 years!) We chose a room with a private pool and were placed over in block 20 which is over the main road (theres a safe bridge) and the furthest away from the beach etc. The room was lovely and the nearby pool was quiet and had comfy bed loungers. Just a note that this would not ideal for people with mobility issues though. The rooms private pool was great, however the terrace part was shaded by 11am and to sunbathe I had to float about in the pool until that was shaded around 2pm. I would have preferred a room/pool that was in the sunshine for longer like the ones around the main pool but it honestly wasn't a big deal as there are 4 other pools to use also. I'm still glad we opted for the upgrade rather than a room without. We were bed & breakfast, the food was lovely and fresh, we also ate in the hotels restaurants a few times for lunch or dinner and the food was always good. We enjoyed a couples full body massage in the spa which was amazing! The entire spa facility was perfect. It had a little sun terrace outside to sunbathe in too! Probably our favourite part of the hotel was the beach bar and pool and the spa! If you're looking for a lively area, this is NOT the place for you, there were a few restaurants around but is a quiet area. We enjoyed a lovely day out in Chania which was $80 for the taxi (return). We also went to Platanias for a meal out which was livelier and $40 Euros return for the taxis. The main pool was so cool with the glass walls and pool bar, full of instagrammers taking their selfies but why not! Although I do feel a little bit like the 'instagrammers' were given priority of where they could sit at breakfast, we often asked to be seated outside looking over the pool but could rarely get a table out there, they always managed though ;) My one disappointment with this hotel was the facility for late check out. We asked to keep our room for late checkout which was not available (although the hotel did not seem very full.) We were told there is a courtesy room to use, however this turned out to be the pool toilets, there we were lugging our suitcase down to the pool toilets (which are separate Male and Female so difficult with the luggage/wash stuff) and had to shower and attempt to get ready with people coming in and out left right and centre. It was awful! I'm not in anyway a snob but for a 5 star hotel and our special anniversary, I did feel this was unacceptable! It was too hot and sweaty down there, I couldnt get my hair dry... It ruined what would have been a perfect holiday! I went and spoke to the lovely ladies in the spa that allowed me to go into the changing rooms and dry and straighten my hair (as we had the massage there). If it weren't for them I would have left the hotel damp and miserable! This is the one and only change this hotel needs to make - it NEEDS a separate room for people who have late flights to get washed and changed in! Would I return, absolutely - the hotel is amazing, but only if we didn't have a late flight home or could pre book late check out!

Its important to mention that i am not giving this hotel such a low rating due to the hotel facilities but more as a warning to other guests that when you leave the room lock up everything you have of value in the safety box. The facilities in the hotel are great, many nice restaurants and a very nice pool area and very nice staff so nothing to complain about and if it wasent for my experience in the below I would probably not mind staying there again. But the warning is that we experienced that the house keeper stole a 50 eur note from the room and we admit that it laid in the wide open on top of a box of candy but I can’t imagine a house keeper in a 5 Star hotel thinking that this must be a tip for me and just take it? On top of that my bag with my lap top was opened and moved around even though it was inside my suitcase but nothing was missing from the bag though. After that we obviously locked everything inside the safety box. But this was not a one time off experience because the last day of our stay instead of checking out 11.00 and then waiting 9 hours in the lobby for our bus to the airport we rented another room. This room was prepared for new arrivals so cleaning was not necessary for that day and when we looked in the refrigerator apparently someone had forgotten a yoghurt. We didn’t think further about that and went out for lunch and when we came back someone had been in our room and removed the yoghurt? Again lock up all your valuables in that hotel because there are apparently a relaxed attitude about their housekeeping staff and a relaxed attitude about accessing the rooms of the hotel.

amazing hotel. Just have to alert/advice - as a way to avoid similar situations in the future: - the cleaning. As we arrived, There was sand on the balcony from other guests and some feeling of its existence on the room, barefooted. No drama. But not 5* as it demands.. - the noise-cancelling. the doors shouldn’t have forced-closing springs, has our neighbours weren’t carefull closing theirs at night. Even the walls trembled! And we woke up many times. - the old-towel-on-the-pool-bed-reservation”. A typical scene i hate the most. people who leave their towels over a chair/bench/pool bed.. and go away for hours.. to breakfast, to Chania(!!).. everywere BUT the pool. It’s imperative - for a 5* hotel - to have like a towel-changing little house/barrack, to give clean towells and to spot that situations, as to avoid this injustices. 2 days i watched from a side zone, on the grass, multiple beds only with the towels, for hours. Not Cool. Everything else was amazing. The staff (There was a tall guy, from the buffet, always smiling - Vassilis? Great aura!), the food so good everywere.. the relation price/quality/quantity was amazing. The night food-service was so great, as we needed it on the 1st night because we arrived so late.. receptionist always caring and helpfull. SPA and gym so great.. the washing products (shampo and others from brand Apivita(c)) with great quality made the experience better. The beauty of the hotel itself, enjoying the pool view from the room. It’s a 5* to me
