Best experience . The staff makes part of the stay exquisite . Sandra , Francesca , Martina .. all just extremely special . We even took a pasta course that was lots of fun . It’s a very special place with a great view . Spacious rooms . Very good breakfast
The place is gorgeous, surrounded by olive trees in a medieval village. We stayed in the new part near the swimming pool in a nice flat. The services weren't very accurate: if you are a luxury location, I think to find a clean swimming pool and more tidiness in the garden around the pool. I suppose that the relais open only same days ago, but when you open everything must be ready. If the plumber arrive at 7.30 to do some work and you are on holiday...it won't be very appreciated Good breakfast and friendly staff. I didn't try the restaurant
I cannot say enough good about Relais Il Canallcchio! What a BEAUTIFUL place, a must stay if you are in Umbria. Off the beaten path, so that makes it ideal to get the peace and quiet you desire. The inn is wonderful! Great food and service. Cannot wait to go back again!
We enjoyed our stay here but found the food not of the usual standard for Italy. It was very repetitive and we ended up eating at the restaurant at the bottom of the drive like other hotel guests. Rooms are rather dated and not all rooms have WiFi. The grounds are rather run down, which is a pity as this is a wonderful spot and convenient for exploring the countryside. The shuttle driver need to allow more time for connections. We nearly missed our return flight. The hotel is reasonably priced.
I gave been bringing groups of travelers to Italy for 20 years. Usually I choose a hotel within walking distance of local restaurants or bars. I was reluctant to book this hotel because of its isolated locale. I was so pleasantly surprised! The setting was breathtaking, the staff was warm and accommodating, the food was excellent. The cooking class was great- each person prepared their own food, which eliminated too many hands in the food! After our daily excursions, we all enjoyed the ambience and tranquility of this beautiful hotel. There was a piano player in our group which also helped pass the evenings. Even the staff joined in our sing slings. I will definitely bring another group here in the future.
If you want peace and quiet, lovely staff and wonderful views then this is the pkace to stay. Ae had 5 nights here and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, walking in the morning and relaxing by the pool in the afternoon.
We arrived 6th October for five nights We stayed in room 121 with fabulous views. the barking dogs below were in no way inconvenient. The bedroom and bathroom was very well appointed and generous in size. Clean and tidy with quality toiletries. The bed linen was changed every day - very impressed!! We spent the majority of our stay sitting by the pool looking across the valleys and admining the secluded houses perched on the hillsides. We can understand the criticisms regarding food quality. The quality was more than acceptable, using local influences in the preparations of each meal including Wild Boar and Black Sausages. Sadly the desserts were a bought-in frozen product of mediocre quality. I am surprised that members of the kitchen team could not prepare two famous Italian desserts fresh each day. A good quality home-made Tiramisu would contribute to improving customer reviews. We enjoyed the visit to the wine tasting on our doorstep. Louigi from the hotel was conducting the show-round by the owners who do not speak any English. Visiting Umbria in early October coincides with the harvest of the vines and we witnessed the grapes being processed into juice to begin the process of fermentation. Luigi was very informative, knowledgeable and was genuinely interested in ensuring that we understood the wine's journey from vine to bottle. We would have no hesitation to recommend Relais il Canalicchio for a peace and quiet holiday and we ortunity to return again in the future.…
My friend and I spent a week here at the beginning of October and it was our home base for a week of travelling in Umbria/Tuscany. When we first arrived at dusk, after a long flight, we were blown away by the beauty of the place all lit up. We loved our stay here, and loved spending time on the terrace with some wine, and being guests to the most amazing views and sunsets. Yes, you need a car, yes it's a long windy road to get to the hotel, but that is what we LOVED about it. The room we had was spacious and clean. We ate dinner at the hotel most nights and found it enjoyable. If you are looking to be near a city, no this is not the place for you but if you want to be blown away by the beauty of Umbria, don't hesitate!
We spent five nights at Relais Il Canalicchio. The hotel is beautiful, set high on a hill surrounded by absolutely gorgeous scenery. We had a classic room which was large with a large bathroom, both were spotless. Our view was lovely overlooking the beautiful countryside. The staff were all very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them. I have read some bad reviews regarding food but we found the food satisfactory with a good choice every meal, we were full board. The pasta in particular was very good. We had the house wine which was good and cost 15 euros a bottle. The terrace is lovely to sit and chat to other guests while watching the sun set. I would definitely recommend this beautiful, friendly hotel.
Stayed at this hotel around the same time last year had a wonderful holiday, got my husband to book for this year for my birthday present. Just back after a fantastic weekend all the hotel staff are great, friendly, professional and go over and above to make sure we had a excellent time. Food and drinks are priced fairly, choice of food and drinks are great and food was fantastic. Booked a trip with the hotel to Assisi which was excellent and at a great price, my husband and I used the spa last time which is wonderful (sitting in the jacuzzi looking out over the Umbria valley below) unfortunately we didn’t have time to do this this time. Looking forward to going back next year.
