Wow, where do I start? For starters, the people running the property should not be in the hospitality business. Maybe, prison guards, yes! They had an attitude, only spoke Italian and were so unfriendly to everyone in the group. We had to take our room key with us every time we left the property to open the main gate otherwise we’d be locked out with no one willing to open for you from the staff, and there was only one key per couple. Food is less than mediocre, (when the kitchen is open, since they would close it for most of the day). No variety, no quantities, nothing healthy! They offered a private chef to cook us a meal which cost us an arm and a leg. They ran out of portions and the main dish came as if they had poured the whole salt bag into it! And the icing on the cake were the mosquitos and bugs. We were bitten so bad, it actually took a toll on the whole vacation. My husband woke up one night with 5 huge bites in his back, turns out there was a massive insect in our bed and two more in the room which I took a picture of! The housekeeping would open the windows and turn the AC’s off to save on electricity and we’d come back and find the room infested with insects.. All in all I would give it a big fat zero and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone! It spoiled our whole experience of Tuscany which we were all looking forward to!

We booked whilst touring in Tuscany and we were delighted when we pulled up to the property. It is lovely and although situated in a residential area it has countryside views and very nice gardens and pool area. It is clear that the owners have spent a good deal of money on developing their property. Unfortunately, even though you are asked to pay upmarket prices, you won't an receive upmarket service. If you want luxury accommodation with friendly, attentive service (which we have become accustomed to in Italy), I'm afraid you'll need to look elsewhere. The property is owned by a widow, Alessandre, and her daughter. They appear to be overwhelmed and stressed and trying to run the business on a showstring. They don't have enough staff to offer the service they want to, and clearly the daughter, Sare, doesn't want to be there and on a number of occasions was heard by guests to be arguing with her mother, and was left in floods of tears after one such incident. Very poor breakfast. Items running out and extra charge for eggs and expresso!! The only coffee is an urn of Nescaffe! No lunch available, unless you book it at breakfast including the time you want to eat, and then just eggs and bread. No pool bar. Not allowed to bring own food to the area even though you cannot buy anything, including ice cream! Very good for a quick night stay, but we stayed for 3 nights and wanted to leave. As we were checking in another guest was leaving early for the same reasons as we discovered!

Villa Pitti was somewhere my husband and I fell in love with 6 years ago (despite the strict guest rules!) so knew it's where we wanted to get married there when we got engaged last year. The owners Stefano and Alessandra agreed, we flew over and stayed with them twice free of charge on their insistence (which they tried to charge us for later), and agreed all the terms, arrangements and PRICE. We continued to email Stefano over the next few months up until April, 6 weeks before our wedding when we flew back over to be told that actually, sadly Stefano had passed away. We were shocked and saddened but also worried about what that meant for our wedding. We bought Alessandra flowers and she assured us they wanted to carry on with the wedding. BUT when we went through final preparations, Alessandra went back on everything that was agreed in writing and tried to increase the price of the rooms (which are already grossly overpriced) and fees considerably knowing that our guests had already booked flights. She also tried to charge £25 a head for Pizza when a bakery down the road sells them for £3! When we tried to negotiate she said we couldn't have evening food for our guests on our wedding day AT ALL! She also said we could no longer use the pool for our agreed pool party for our guests and while we begged her to reconsider as the wedding was a month away she cancelled our ENTIRE WEDDING without any explanation. To say we were devastated and panicked was an understatement as we frantically tried to find another venue and hotels for our 26 guests that were supposed to be staying at Villa Pitti with us. Her cold and heartless demeanour without so much as an apology or explanation was shocking and suddenly all her staff stopped replying to our desperate messages of help and assurance. Luckily we found an amazing nearby venue who were kind, helpful and went above and beyond to give us the best wedding ever. It's such an awful shame that Villa Pitti is such a beautiful place but is completely bought down by the management who have absolutely no idea about customer service. Their mood and temperament is unpredictable and uncomfortable and you feel awkward in their presence. I always felt nervous about having my wedding there because of this but it had sentimental value to us. I'm so relieved we didn't have it there now but no one should have to endure such stress and heartache planning their wedding.

Finding upscale well appointed properties in Tuscany that don't break the bank is not easy, but we were very satisfied with our stay at this place. The location itself is not quite idylic - it's in a suburban area of Montecatini Terme, but once you enter the gates it really is quite expansive and beautiful. I wouldn't say it is five star, but it has some very nice details that we appreciated. A sculpure garden, a beautiful pool, great curb appeal, even period lighting all around the property. The breakfast was great too. The building itself is very cool since it's an original 16th century structure. It is a B and B not a resort, run by Stephano and his daughter. he gave us some good dinner recommendations. The property is also convenient to Lucca, Pisa and Florence, so not a bad base at all. We also found it pretty romantic, with huge rooms
