We stayed for one week in September 2021 and had two double rooms. One room got upgraded from garden to sea view which was very nice. The whole resort is very beautiful, clean and modern. The rooms were big and had huge bathrooms, they also were always very clean. The beach was beautiful along with the clear blue water. The swimming pool is big and filled with salt water but showers are available as well. The hotel is in a remote location, there are lunch restaurants on the beach but we had booked breakfast and dinner included because the hotel can only be left by car (in my opinion) because it’s in a bay and evening restaurants are on top of the “cliff”. Food and drinks which aren’t included are quite expensive compared to other hotels. For breakfast there is a buffet with everything you could wish for except veggies and different cheeses. For dinner there is a 3 or 4 course Menu. In the beginning it was tricky for us to understand how dinner “works” because we didn’t get an explanation on what was included in the price. They bring you a card where you can choose out of 3 dishes for 3 courses and desert. What they didn’t tell us was that desert isn’t included in the price so you have to pay it extra except if you choose desert instead of the third course. The portions are very small but if you eat 3 courses they’re filling. If you don’t have dinner included you have to expect to pay 18-26 Euro per course per person. The food overall is really really good but the dinner service was very bad. The waiters were ignoring us and after telling them what we wanted to order for each course we had to wait a whole hour until we got the first course. They don’t speak English and also didn’t understand when I tried to speak Italian to them either so we got the wrong food sometimes but we didn’t have to pay extra. There was one waiter who even spoke German, but he wasn’t allowed to take our order because he didn’t have one of the iPads where they put in your order. Only 2-3 waiters have access to the iPads and they run around like headless chickens not knowing who has ordered and who hasn’t. I didn’t understand the organisation of the restaurant at all and even the lady at the reception said she knows that it’s really bad so I don’t understand why they don’t organise that better. If you wanna do some sight seeing i recommend using a rental car cause it’s hard to leave the hotel by foot and there was only a bus on top of the cliff, but I don’t know how often it comes. Overall I would recommend the hotel if you have your own car there and if you don’t choose to have dinner there. P.S. another important thing before you leave the hotel is to check the receipts because we got charged for drinks and some diving gear that we didn’t order

Hotel's Favorite
There are several moments and images that are still vivid in my memory, regarding my stay at the Capovaticano resort where I stayed from the 13th of September till the 19th. The whole place is a treat for the senses. The guest is pampered from the beginning to the end of the stay. The staff is always present with discretion, never invasive, to make you fully enjoy independently the immersive experience offered by the ample and beautiful spaces and the gorgeous nature around. The sea is the mighty star where you spend most of the day, enchanted by the crystal clear water, the little silver and black fishes that accompany your swim. When you leisurely wake up from the whole day at the beach ( towels provided for free)soaking the sun,and the air gets fresher, sunset arrives, splashing the sky with accurate beauty, brushing the horizon with hues of red, pink, orange, when the shape of Volcano Stromboli might appear on sight on clear days, still always there, present even on misty days. At sunset the Strombolicchio bar offers nice aperitifs( open also for good lunches ) on the terrace overlooking the sea and the volcano Stromboli. Beautiful and good quality garden furniture is scattered everywhere to make you comfortably enjoy a sit every minute of the day and the evening. I choose the half board, so started the morning with a super breakfast, offering cakes, croissants,, cereals, yogurts, all different alternatives to cow milk, fruit, freshly baked bread prepared with more then one type of flour. There is also a wide choice of the savouries if you don’t have a sweet tooth. All you like is there and you are spoilt for choice. Included the view that, from the restaurant makes you eye glide smoothly across a strategic passage way straight to the sea. Careful waiters, discreetly please your demands. At dinner there is an offering of succulent gourmet dishes, presented with the signature of a good chef. After breakfast I used to have a leisure walk around the park, then at ten o’clock I went for a yoga class, which takes place open air on the lawn facing the sea; with some shade and a light breeze I had the right complements for the one hour class. Everything was perfect and could not ask for a better location and a better teacher . MariaGrazia has been a beacon of light in each of the five morning classes I took. Present with all the senses, got me into the spirit of yoga with her smooth clear soothing voice, with her moves accompanying mine. She is a knowledgeable beautiful person, sweet and strong like the sea breeze. Even if you have never practiced yoga, she makes you do it all with ease and fun. The breathing and meditation moments are magic. This was my first time at Capovaticano resort and surely won’t be the last. Thanks to everybody for the excellent job. Last but not least I wanted to highlight the extended wifi , and the free car park.

Our room was large overlooking the ocean. Unfortunately they don't offer rooms with tubs. The indoor pool was pleasant to swim in as well as the outdoor one. The outdoor restaurant was delightful to have lunch at. However the Gourmet restaurant was awful. Not for us. I suggest the regular restaurant. The hotel is located only about 20 minutes drive from Tropea. We enjoyed our stay and recommend the hotel highly.

We would like to thank the Capovaticano Resort Thalasso and Spa for the oportunity to make our dream come true and have our wedding in Italy, in such a beautiful place. A big thank you to manager of the hotel Deborah. She helped us with the paperwork at the local office and with all the wedding services. (Decorations on the beach, flower arrangement, wedding reception). The Resort is absolutely breathtaking. Beautiful beaches, tasty food, romantic rooms and relax. The whole staff was always smiling and trying to help and accommodate us. If you are looking for a beautiful romantic place, we think the resort is the right choice.

The positive The setting is very beautiful. The room is very comfortable, clean, nicely decorated. The air conditioning and the wifi work very well Breakfast is varied, with quality ingredients The negative The noise. The cleaning staff start at 8.30 and seem to go on the whole day. Noise of moving furniture, slammed doors and vacuum cleaning is bothersome. This could be minimized by asking cleaning staff not to slam door, and by fitting pads under the chairs so the they are less noisy when moved The second issue is the beach. It is not sand but small pebble, very uncomfortable to walk on. There is nothing the hotel can do about it but is a problem for those who came to enjoy the sea.

The overall hotel is nice, but me and my partner had an awuful experience in the suite bathroom. The shower head was not working properly, always falling into us during shower. There was no glazed partition in the shower, but a textile curtain that I would never expect in a resort like this. When I asked for a new room at the reception it was told that we should pay an extra fee for that. The room is not the one we booked. Be careful.

Magic exclusive relaxing. I arrived from central Italy by car, driving for about eight hours on excellent highways. The last few kms are on not so well kept roads, still, smooth and with little traffic. The very last km is all curves, with some hairpin bends, but at this point it’s all sea view and the sight is a mighty one. From high above all of a sudden you see the sinusoidal shape of the Capovaticano resort, elegantly laid down on the ness facing the sea. From now on it’s only a swift couple of minutes drive from you and paradise. You might have seen it from internet photos,or on magazines, but nothing prepares you for what it is like from real. It almost takes your breath away, and already from the hall you start with a smile, then you just turn around while doing the check in and already have the view of the sea ticking out from across the hall from a vast window at the end of a sort of corridor outside where the eye glides slowly savouring the most exquisite sight in a mingle of inside and outside closely interlacing each other, smoothly, without any disturbing obstacle. Efficient an professional staff quickly carry out all the procedures and after collecting your luggage take you to your room. All confort, freshness and cleanliness, very spacious for two, with its neat en-suite bathroom. A large sliding window opens on a patio with two comfortable chairs and a small table and on the garden ( in my case) just one step and I could view the sea on my left. Sweet morning walks on the soft well manicured lawn, pleased my awakening with the constant sight and scent of the sea.

I just wanted to make a point that after spa services there is a table with teas, nuts and fruit and people are walking up to the table unmasked and in some cases even eating over the table. Nothing is individually packed. There is a woman that comes from time to time but she doesn’t seem to mind that people are approaching a table of uncovered food unmasked. I haven’t seen anything like this during my travels in any other country or even place in Italy.

Excellent location, very good rooms and bathrooms, excellent outdoor, very clean everywhere rooms, bathrooms and other areas of the outdoor. Reech breakfast. People friendly and helpful. Excellent SPA, Restaurant people need some adequate professional training. There are good people, with willingness of giving a good service, but somehow there is a strong professional organisational need.I have spoken directly with the hotel manager about it, hoping that this will provide for some corrective actions. Overall a very good experience. Hotel should have a shuttle to bring people to Tropea village, as to enhance the experience. Given the location it is necessary to hire a car to exit the hotel.

This is my 4th year at this resort and once again I have to say its one of my favorite spots in the world to relax. The beautiful sea, perfect landscaping, comfortable and modern rooms. One of the main thing that stands out is the service of a few people of the restaurant staff that we have known year after year and always go out of their way to be kind to my family A huge thank you to fantastic Raffaele, a super professional Francesco, always smiley Antonio and also Michele and Francesca from lunch. They all made a difference and this place would not be the same without them. This year the property would have needed a little additional maintenance but this was discussed directly and privately. I do hope next year we will have a wonderful experience again! Keep investing in great people and maybe stop changing managment every year...this would certainly help!
