Stayed for 5 nights at the Magdelana grand resort... The room was okay but certainly not what I paid an extra £116 with my tour operator for in the belief and marketing ploy that it would be a deluxe ocean view room... Firstly all rooms are ocean view, and the room although reasonable and clean, was a long way from deluxe compared to some others I have experienced... They laid on a steel band in the breakfast room which I have to say were excellent !...

...I think there are sea views from all the rooms and each room has its own balcony/terrace area. The rooms are really large and the showers are powerful and decently hot... The safe in the room was easily large enough to store my 15" laptop... The Wifi in my room was generally good but could sometimes be a bit temperamental... I mentioned it to the staff who then placed a router in my room which solved it and meant that I got 25-30Mbps download speed which was pleasing... I did some remote work from my room one evening...

Stayed at the Magdalena Grand Hotel for 10 days and what a massive difference to my previous stay 4 years ago. On the positive side the staff are all very friendly on the negative side, the waiting time for food is hours not even minutes and that’s not exaggerating 30min just for a drink and that’s every day and when you get the food it’s more than likely incorrect and cold, very limited food options and the food choices are repetitive with not all the restaurants open...

...Check in was relatively streamlined and without a hitch... The staff are so friendly, and really work hard to make your stay as enjoyable as they can... Now I can understand hotels hosting private events, and this one had one or two other indoor locations they could have used, instead they told everyone that they had to be out of the pool by 4pm !... (For the entire time I was there, there was no evening entertainment) i'm sorry but when you have paying guests this type of behaviour really is not acceptable, you are renting your services to paying guests, not government ministers !... They laid on a steel band in the breakfast room which I have to say were excellent !...

...We stayed at Magdalena over the Christmas holidays and were very impressed at the excellent services provided by all of the staff at this resort.Valerie and staff at the Kalina restaurant were always professional and attentive, catering to every special meal request with a warm smile. Lisa, the floor supervisor and Cameron in IT, ensured a seamless visit, addressing any concern we had.The internet service was however very sluggish, a deterrent for a business guest and requires an upgrade... The exemplary service provided by the restaurant and housekeeping staff particularly Donna, here should be used as a model of training for public servants in similar government offices across Trinidad & Tobago...

My husband and I are currently guests at Magdalena Beach and Golf Resort in Tobago... Crystal gave us a tour of the room to ensure we were satisfied with the accommodations... We opted for the all-inclusive package, which included three meals of either buffet or choice three restaurants... We are currently on day 2 of our 5 day stay and have had dinner at the buffet, the Robinson Crusoe pub, and the breakfast buffet... The rooms are comfortable and spacious with private terraces and seating... Also all staff are pleasant and professional especially Melissa, Supv...

...This hotel is truly beautiful and clean. Housekeeping will clean your room daily and give fresh towels although will not change your sheets... One hour to be served lunch or dinner minimum... This is not a hotel to lay on the beach or enter the ocean although the pool and outdoor area is beautiful and the pool is heated... 20 min later while we were getting ready to leave here comes the drink I ordered... The staff at the pool bar were very friendly and attentive...

We stayed at the resort to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary... The hotel arranged a celebration dinner for us on our anniversay date... We have to mention just a few names, Marc, Rhonda, Victoria, Valerie and Paul, the chef ( he catered for my dietry needs with out question )... All the staff were so helpful, and always with a smile, nothing was too much trouble... The rooms were spotlessly clean, fresh and airy... Plenty of food choices in the restuarants, every thing was freshly cooked and well presented...

...Our room had a fantastic view (3rd floor South Wing) where we listened to the waves each morning. The room was very comfortable and was kept very clean by the housekeeping staff... There were 3 restaurants (inc. 1 buffet) which were changed virtually every night, which reflected the small amount of guests during our stay... The pub did serve food every night though as an alternative to the restaurants... Around the nice pool there was always beds & shades available (again aided by lack of guests numbers) which made the relaxation around the pool a pleasant experience... We covered most of the Island doing an Island Tour, Bocco Reef/Nylon Pool & Little Tobago all with Ellis Tours who we would personally recommend...

...We had a lovely relaxing week at this hotel at the beginning of Feb 23. We chose this hotel due to the golf package that was included and the overall cost... The hotel was spotlessly clean in all areas, our room was large and had a lovely ocean view... The food and drink was good, there was a choice of 2 restaurants most nights and the staff were absolutely lovely and were welcoming, friendly and professional... My husband enjoyed the golf course which in areas overlooks the beach and I enjoyed relaxing on one of the plentiful sun loungers... There isn't much of a beach at the hotel, but there are some nice grassy areas with sun loungers where you can relax looking out to the ocean... There is a courtesy bus to Pigeon Point approximately 15 mins drive away, which is a fabulous beach on the Caribbean Sea, with turquoise waters and white sands like a picture postcard, absolutely stunning... However, the cleanliness was excellent in all areas and the hospitality of the staff more than made up for this... Thank you to all the staff at the Magdalena for your hospitality and for a lovely stay...

...From the moment we arrived until our last minutes, the staff were tremendous, nothing was to much trouble... All rooms are ocean facing, which is really nice, and house keeping keep your rooms spotless... There is entertainment by means of a singer on a Friday and Karaoke on Saturday, both very enjoyable... The main evening bar is really nice with character and a good place to meet fellow guests... The pool is a good size and has a swim up bar... Plenty of sun loungers were available, The beach is nothing special and being on the Atlantic, the sea is quite choppy... He is based out of Pigeon Point, a great beach on the Caribbean side of the island and a must go place (contact@ellistourstt.com)... Last but not least, a special mention for Carla, who arranged with the restaurant so I could celebrate my 70th birthday with a group of other guests, which was exceptionally nice...

...There is choice for everyone and they do go for quality rather than quantity which is great. The beach is the Atlantic side and can be rough but there is a courtesy taxi that takes you to Pidgeon point the Caribbean side which is a must visit... You can go on boat trips from there as well so check it out as it may be cheaper than through a rep... Please note this is a four star Caribbean hotel... The rooms are large and the balconies have great views... The rooms are cleaned everyday as well... Wi-Fi is there but can be patchy, some areas have better reception than others...

Just returned from a wonderful stay at this hotel. We enjoyed every aspect of our holiday from the delicious, flavoursome food & varied food, the good quality cocktails, wines & drinks to the easy availability of the sun beds... The hotel is in a gorgeous setting on the golf course, facing towards the sea which allows for beautiful views & very pleasant walks... ...This was our second time visiting together and I enjoyed it immensely again. The staff do a truly first class job to cater for special dietary requests and any food preferences... They are so professional and friendly and they really make us feel special... There are paths running through golf course and surrounding grounds, which make for very enjoyable walks... There are some deck chairs on the beach and there were always enough deck chairs and seats around the pool... The pool is very nice and has different areas that are connected... There are great sea views from the pool... The reception area has huge glass windows along one elevation, making for spectacular sea views upon arrival... On Saturday there was Karaoke in the Robinson Crusoe bar... I think there are sea views from all the rooms and each room has its own balcony/terrace area...

A very imposibg set in beautiful grounds that reminded me of Sandals set on a golf course with well kept private villas along both sides of the road. Beautiful drive up to the front of the hotel with its coconut tree lining both side of the road... Our room was large and adequate over looking the Atlantic ocean... There is no beach to speak of, but they had a great swimming pool with lots of sunbeds and umbrellas... The breakfast was excellent, a good selection lots of choices, freshly cooked... Met the chef Marlon who pointed out where things were and a lovely lady called Pamela who took care of us, all the staff were professional... Just one thing that needs rectifying is the outside loo near the breakfast room...

...The only downside was that the shower water wasn't very warm... The fine dining was delicious and was def resort level quality, and Robinson Carusoe's was a hit with us... Their fish and chips was *chef's kiss*... The pool is beautiful, except that is closes early at 6 pm... On a nice day the grounds are nice for a walk and there are bikes and scooters available for guests... There us a beach but the Atlantic side of the island can be choppy... Pigeon Point and Store Bay with their clear water on the Caribbean side isn't very far away by car... Don't miss out on the art gallery off the lobby... The front desk and concierge staff were super helpful in organizing taxis and tours... Our flight was at 6:30 am and they organized a taxi to the airport and even put together a breakfast box for us... It must be said that all of these 4 stars go directly to MEKESHIA at the front desk and TED who took us on our island tour...

I had a wonderful stay at Magdalena Grand... The staff at the buffet restaurant were more than kind and accomodating... The room was comfortable with amnenities in place - fridge, tea station, safe... Cable statiins were limited and I didn't have the bedt view but I was impressed with the cleanliness and attention to detail... The hotel is on the beach which was lovely for walking on the beef, beautiful sunrise and sea views and enjoyimg the sea breeze... I enjoyed the art gallery on the compound... Magdalena is a pricey option but worth it...

Recently returned from 10 nights at Magdalena and had a wonderful time. The overriding thing you need to remember when you set foot on Tobago is that you switch to Tobago time, nothing is done in a hurry. As many have already said the hotel is a little tired and dated in places but our room was generous and lovely and clean. Air con was excellent and we had a lovely big ceiling fan. Cosmetics and towels were replaced regularly but just leave the staff a note if you need anything extra. Lovely big patio doors leading to a generous balcony with chairs and table and looking directly at the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Three swimming pools, all well maintained but not very deep. Lovely pool bar too with lots of choice. We didn’t swim in the Atlantic but visited Pigeon Point on the hotel shuttle which is on the Caribbean side, quiet sea and beautiful white sand beach, it’s a shame it only runs three times weekly but easy enough to get a taxi as only about 15 minutes away. Lovely buffet provided breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Also ate at the a-la-carte restaurant a number of times and in the pub Crusoes once, had some lovely food and we had no issues getting served but was aware that some guests were waiting quite a long time from ordering to their food being delivered and you have to be patient waiting for drinks to be delivered too. No real entertainment at night although they did do Karaoke in the pub one night. Plenty of opportunity to get out and about but felt the trips offered by Monica at the hotel were quite expensive. Use local taxis or hire a car, easy enough as they even drive on our side of the road, spoke with a lot of guests who had done this. Visited Scarborough but only needed about half an hour there as not a lot to see. Visited Mr McKie’s garden to see the humming birds, amazing, well worth it. Loved watching the pelicans diving in as you laid on your sun lounger and seeing the frigate birds come overhead was quite a sight, almost prehistoric, certainly something to remember. We had an issue with the room safe, and with a restaurant booking one night but they were soon remedied and every member of staff we spoke with had time to talk to us and genuinely wanted to know how we were getting on and if we were enjoying our holiday, too many to mention by name but will remember Nigel, Pamela, Daniel and Diamond, by name and by nature. All in all we had a lovely time, if they could pick up Magdalena and put it on the Caribbean coast that would be perfect, but would be very happy to return here anytime and a big thank you to all who helped to make this such a memorable holiday.

We've been lucky enough to have been to the Caribbean a number of times on holiday, but wanted to try a different island. We saw a very good deal on "Secret Escapes" for Tobago and the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort. The deal also included to 2 free rounds of Golf! We obviously went at the end of the wet season and there was a lot more wind and rain than other islands we've been to at this time of year, but that's not Tobago's fault. It was a very nice hotel/resort although being off-peak it was quite quiet, meaning that not everything advertised was open. There was limited choice for lunch and only one Bar open until 3pm when "Crusoe's" then opened. The Piano Bar never opened in the whole time we were there and the outside Grill was only open for a couple of days at the end of our stay. Not always a full choice of menu or drinks as they had run out. The pool is lovely and only 1m deep all over, so ideal for just bobbing about. However, even with fewer guests there were not enough loungers and parasols around the pool for everyone. Several parasols were broken too. The beach sadly was unwelcoming. Wet season storms in the Atlantic had caused masses of driftwood and other detritus to wash up. A breakwater of sorts had been created from boulders placed in the sea to calm the beach from the Atlantic waves, but there was virtually no beach furniture to encourage a visit or dip in the sea. The only loungers we saw were broken or had seen better days and most seemed to have been dumped. Our room was fine, although the balcony faced NE so we got virtually no sun all day. Bathroom was a bit "tired" (cracked wash basin and loo seat), and the "hot" water could have been hotter. I had to boil a kettle to have a shave. The Golf course was challenging and our deal gave us a free golf buggy although I had to hire clubs (US$37.00). Would be enjoyed by most golfers I would think. The staff were always very polite, but could appear a bit unhappy until you broke the ice and got a smile out of them! Special mentions to: Kerline at the poolside bar, who could be relied upon for a good laugh! Amoyah in Crusoe's bar and Diamond in Pembois buffet at breakfast and lunch.

Went here for 11 nights with my wife as a majority of the reviews were very good. When we got to the hotel, we were greeted and checked in with great professionalism, and the receptionist was very informative with details about the hotel. We were then taken to our room by the bell boy on a golf buggy. Our room was a free upgrade to a ocean view deluxe room ( my wife pointed out later that all rooms had a ocean view) and was nice. Our room was 222 and right by the small pool which was not used a lot, so we used that for the first 2 days. The rest of the holiday we used the main pool, and that was not very busy either because of the time of year and not many guests staying in the hotel. I will give what we thought were good points first, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was very good and tasty. The rooms were cleaned well. My wife Pam was unwell for a couple of days ( not linked to the hotel) and Pamela in the restaurant was very kind and had some soup sent up to our room, followed by fruit the next day which helped. Take the free shuttle to Pigeon point beach, it is a beautiful beach but you have to pay £20 TTD which is just under £3 to get into the complex. If you want sunbeds/umbrellas they are extra. The golf course is good, they supply you with a electric buggy but you have to pay for clubs and balls if you don`t have your own. It does get very hot there so pick your time to play accordingly. Myself and my playing partner Simon got a bit wet with a sudden downpour. Now the things that the hotel could improve on. The bar staff were a little slow in getting the drinks and food in the Robinson Crusoe bar, and this is when the hotel was pretty quiet, although the quality of the food was very nice with large portions. There were a few guests we met that had an issue with the Kalina restaurant being a bit slow, again when it was not busy. We ate there at 6.30 the first time which was the first sitting and were served quite fast, and the second time we arrived at 7.00 and this seemed a bit slower. If they can iron out these problems especially for when it gets busier, then the Magdalena will be a great hotel. Would we come back here? yes definitely but would hope things improve in certain areas. Thanks to all at Magdalena for a lovely holiday.

Plus side staff are so friendly Some of food is really nice especially in pub Some service is really good, pool bar Down side some service is very slow namely the Kalinana Restaurant. Don't bother ordering Jerk Chicken it's awful. Some items not available for example they ran out of tomato juice, draft beer and vanilla ice cream just to name a few Entertainment is very very poor infactbit doesn't exist Rooms need updating People waiting over 2 hours for main course is totally unacceptable This hotel needs an experienced general manager as it has so much potential, end of General opinion from people we have met is we would not recommend this hotel unless there's a massive improvement.

We had a brilliant holiday here at the Magdalena Grand Beach hotel resort. The resort is situated on a plantation and next to the golf course so a car or taxi is needed if you wish to go out- it was too hot & too far to walk. The hotel room was spacious, all rooms overlooking the sea with balcony, air con and usual facilities. The hotel is a bit tired in places but our room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is situated on the beach which sadly isn't really looked after and the sunbeds are only available by the pool. We enjoyed watching the pelicans and Magificent Frigate birds swoop for fish in the sea. There is a lovely swim up bar and great cocktails available. The Staff were all so friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Lisa, Danny, Pamela, Crystal and the Pool Barman Nigel. The food was great if a bit repetitive and sometimes unavailable. Not all of the restaurants were open because the hotel was not full enough- we enjoyed eating in the Pembois buffet at breakfast but it was nice to be waited on in Kalina and outside Salaka restaurants -these were open on a rotational basis. However food was also served in the Robinson Crusoe pub as well every evening. Entertainment is a bit limited, there was a Karaoke night and a singer whilst we were there and some pool activities. The Golf was enjoyed by my husband, who thought the course was in good condition - he spotted a Caiman in one of the lakes! Tobago is a beautiful island. We did a full day tour of the whole island with local guide Dexter -you can find him on Trip Advisor- which included lunch in the rainforest feeding hummingbirds which was rather special. He shared local street food enroute and I would recommend his trip which was probably the highlight of my holiday! The hotel offers a free shuttle bus to Pigeon Point beach which is stunning so we took a glass bottom boat trip from there and visited No Man's Land & the Nylon Pool. Saw baby turtles and snorkelled. There are plenty of offers of cheap boat trips from the beach which had toilets and refreshments. We found the people to be friendly everywhere we went. . Would definitely recommend this destination - great value for money!

We've just returned from the best holiday with 2 other couples. (celebrating 2 'big birthdays' ). The Hotel is lovely and spacious, all rooms overlooking the sea with balcony, air con and usual facilities. A little tired in places but as this was only cosmetic, we felt that everything else overshadowed this. The Staff were all so friendly and helpful. Special shout outs to Danny, Pamela, Kadjha, Cadina and Susan (sorry if spelt wrong) and the Pool Barman Nigel. The food was great, buffet breakfast with lots of choice and we ate in the restaurants for most of our lunches and evening meals where you are served to table. Entertainment if you want it is a bit limited (which suited us) but good efforts. The Golf was enjoyed by the men, who thought the course was in good condition and found all of the Golf staff friendly and helpful too. Tobago is beautiful and we hired a car and explored the island. Very unspoilt with lots of beautiful bays and a rain forest... again so friendly everywhere we went. Would definitely recommend this as a great value for money destination.
