The place is very nice but the owner let's his dogs roam the hotel and the beach during the turtle season!!! I have seen one of his dog eat baby turtles when these are an endangered species!!!! These dogs walk about in the dinning area while people are eating!!!!!!!! Disgusting!!!!!!! They are full of fleas and are always surrounded by... More

Mt Plaisir has been the main force for the turtle conservation efforts in Grande Riviere beach since 1993 (long way before the area was designated a protected area by the government in 1997). The large majority of the hatchlings are killed by the vultures that flock the beach by the hundreds on late afternoons and early mornings and not by... More

The Mt Plaisir hotel was so relaxing yet adventurous... We got upgraded to an upstairs room and what a blessing! The upstairs room was fabulous with a view overlooking the beach and ocean. you could see the turtle tracks and nests from our balcony. The turtle tour was so enjoyable - our group saw hatchlings and 5 nesting mothers! The... More

This very quaint and rustic lodge was an excellent stay. A few quirks or complaints here and there won't take away from a generally positive experience The breakfast was great tasting but a bit pricey for standard stuff. Actually my only complaint was some cobwebs on the bathroom. I'm not sure people understand how precious a jewel this place with... More

Hearing this to be a simple hotel, I chose to stay here for by birthday in May knowing that the turtles are just a few steps away from the rooms of this hotel. The greatness of the turtles did not disappoint at all. The tour guide and organization of the tour was great. The staff at Mt. Plaisir however.......needs work... More

We had a great time at this hotel. They are very friendly, rooms are maintained very well and food is okay. Breakfast was good and a must here. Since our main activity made us stay outside major part of our stay, it is worth every bit

Rooms are basic but more than what's required when visiting to watch the turtles. We were in room 12 and loved the experience. Evening meal wasn't the best but was very pleasant, and after seeing reviews we were relieved. Great views and great to see the turtles. Sitting out on the balcony with drinks late into the night watching turtles... More

We stayed here during a recent holiday to Trinidad in the hope that we could see the turtle hatchlings we were lucky enough to not only encounter lots of baby turtles, but also to witness some of the mothers coming in to dig their nests and lay their eggs. The hotel is situated right on the beach with excellent viewing... More

I stayed for 2 nights and after a slow (perhaps even rather poor start - see later) this place delivered on its charms. I arrived at 6pm (ish) on a weekend and it took quite a while for someone to be located to check me in and show me to my room. I was allocated a room on the ground... More
