I have visited that hotel for a week holidays, I am a lover of classic style, for that reason I found the hotel amazing! Is a small hotel but a great place, the staff is lovely and friendly. I strongly recommended for a relaxing holidays
On our vacation at this hotel in January, we stayed in one of the Junior Penthouse on the second floor, and I must say, the view was breathtaking. The view from our balcony over look the ocean, lush vegetation and a glimpse of the capital, Scarborough. The staff were friendly and we felt like we were amongst family. We also spend a lot of time at the private beach across the street at their sister hotel. This hotel is ideal if you're looking to get away from busy city life.
Half Moon Blue is a lovely little hotel. The view is stunning. The infinity pool looks out over the ocean also. The only downside to this property is it is on a hill. You have to climb the driveway hill then go up a lot of stairs. You have use of the pool and beach across the street but again there are many stairs to the beach. The food is excellent, breakfast is included and then the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and beach bar is open for lunch and dinner. Rooms are a little rustic but clean and comfortable. If you are in good physical condition it is a nice retreat.
The place looks good, though the furniture was not to my taste. My room had two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a sitting area, frig, electric kettle and cCLEAN also a balcony looking out over the water 3 chaises. BUT the door to the room had a bolt but didn’t lock, no blankets but it took two days for them to get me one. Go buy more blankets!!!! The towels are big and reasonably plush but only got a hand towel halfway through the week and no washcloths. It took more than a day to put me in touch with someone who could book me snorkeling trips and on a one week vacation each day matters. The desk was confused and slow to attend to most questions. The restaurant was ok, but slow and mostly inattentive. Breakfast, again okay but the bacon slices weren’t separated so were very undercooked and no back up pans or pots so when eggs ran out then they cooked more keeping everyone waiting. People outside smoking but no anticipation of the need for an ashtray. If you can keep a laid back, expect nothing attitude then the place is fine but with some serious training of the staff it could be a good place.…
I made a reservation on Orbitz for this hotel. I arrive at the hotel to check in and no one was on site. Parking was very difficult on a steep hill and there may have been 10 parking spots that could barely accomadate the number of guests if you could figure out how to get out after you park your car. There was no security guard, no receptionist, no poolman absolutely no one to check you in, provide keys or access to room. The interesting thing is you could walk through the hotel reception area because the doors were open and there was access to the offices just no one on site. I called the telephone number on the hotel web site and no one answered. I walked around the property and called into every opened door and no one answered. i sat in the reception area for 45 minutes and hoped someone would appear in case they were at the hotel party across the street. No one appeared. i had to find alternative hotel accomadations late at night after paying Orbitz for this hotel. i called Orbitz the next day and explained what happened. They kept sending me e mails claiming they could not reach anyone at the hotel because no one answered the phone. Go figure. After 1 week, i got an e mail that the hotel refused to refund the payment. i am contacting my credit card company. I would say to anyone who is thinking of using this hotel. Do not put your money or your life at risk. Staying in an unsecured property where strangers can walk about a secluded hotel is dangerous. You have been warned. Besides the hotel appears run down and is hanging on a thread. Tobago has way too many beautiful hotels to subject yourself to this horrible hospitality and what is nothing more than an old shack wanna be hotel.…
We stayed here for our mini moon after our wedding in Tobago and below is our findings of the rooms and facilities. The room was spacious with a very large comfy bed and nice pillows. The air con worked well and there was a kettle and tea and coffee in the room. The pool was nice but sun loungers limited and no cushions on the wicker furniture. There are alot of wasps and flies around the pool which makes it hard to relax The room was tired and needed re painting. The bathroom wasnt very good it had no ventilation and was constantly wet and damp. The sliding door provided for the toilet and shower diddnt run on its runners properly and you couldn't use the toilet if someone was using the shower as it was just open. There was a glass cover in the toilet and shower which was full of bugs and the rooms were not sound proofed as advertised. Our room door diddnt open properly and some of the floorboards in the room were loose which caught my toe. The tv in the room dosnt work on fire stick as the wifi isnt strong enough to actually stream anything and there is no other way to watch tv which is extremely annoying. There were robes provided which was nice and the rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels daily. The parking situation at the hotel seriously needs addressing It's on a very steep narrow incline which turns round to the right and when the hotel has an event on the guests cannot park anywhere and we actually got stuck trying to get parked as we couldn't see it was full before going up the slope and a very rude member of staff approached us and asked us who we were and what we were doing there then told us we shouldn't be parking in there if it's full ( like we diddnt know that) We couldn't wait to get out of there. I wouldn't reccomend this hotel.…
We had a 10 night stay at the Half Moon Blue Hotel in November. The hotel is linked to the Bacolet Beach Club hotel, but on the other side of the road, away from the sea, up a fairly steep hill. While this might have been a disappointment, when we got to our room and saw the view from the balcony we were more than happy. The room was large (the balcony was as large as hotel rooms I have stayed in), with a comfy bed and good air con. It was a little dark, but that was not an issue for us. The bathroom was a little eccentric, but we soon got used to that. As we were visiting off season the hotel was pretty quiet, which suited us. The pool, next to our room, was a welcome respite when coming back from the various trips, we enjoyed watching leaf cutter ants staggering around the edge of the pool. As I mentioned the path to the room was quite steep and, when it rained (most days, but briefly) it could feel a bit slippery. If you have any problems with slopes this is worth thinking about. The facilities at the Bacolet Beach Club are availble to guests staying at Half Moon Blue, we used the beach, massage facilities and car hire (we hired a jeep for a day, it was easy to drive, if a bit beaten up - that was a fun day!). There is a restaurant linked to the hotel, which has a fixed lunch and dinner menu, that, towards the end of our stay felt a bit limited, but the cocktails were good (a great Dark n Stormy at the end of the day was heaven). The breakfast (included) buffet was good and included a mix of options, including Saltfish Buljol, which we loved. We were not all inclusive, prices are a bit high at the restaurant compared to other places we ate at on the island. Service was friendly but not always very quick. However we did receive free drinks on a couple of occassions when we had waited for a while, and we were not in a hurry, so this was not an issue for us. The staff that we dealt with were mostly very helpful, especially Rikki and the young lady who helped us with our hire car (but sadly it was her last day before starting a new career). Overall, we had a great stay at Half Moon Blue, we left feeling relaxed, tanned and extremely happy. We would stay there again.…
Just back from a 10 night stay. This hotel is situated on the wrong side of the Island, ie Atlantic coast. Went with 2 friends and we booked TWO superior penthouse suites (confirmed with an email), it only has ONE, they expected us to share as it has 2 four poster beds, but no dividing wall or doors, completely open plan including toilet and shower! We went All Inclusive, the restaurant is across the road in another hotel (Bacolet) and the menu is very limited and not everything on offer was included, ie curried shrimp and 2 steaks carry a charge, also not everything was available as they had run out! You are only a few minutes from the beach, but it's a long way down the hill and bloody good workout on the way back, you need to be fit. Bacolet is situated a taxi ride away from Scarborough, there is absolutely nothing to do here, a lot of the guests were going into Scarborough mostly for a decent meal, but also the shops etc. It has the smallest swimming pool I have ever seen, yes it overlooks the sea, but getting into it could be tricky for young children, has a slope of about 10ft then drops off into 4ft of water. All the staff were wonderful and helpful but had lots of problems to deal with. This is a poorly run hotel, will only supply you with a limited amount of water, but as many beers, cola, ginger beer as you wish, madness!…
Booked two suites for a four night stay with my family. The hotel is located in Bacolet which is around 30 minutes from the airport. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the owners of this quaint hotel which used to be a donkey house. Our suites were across the road in the beach club. On entering our rooms we were amazed by the luxurious feel and the white linen on the beds and the furnishing From the large balcony we could see out to the clear blue sea with lush green vegetation including various fauna and fruit trees set in a private bay On our balcony there were sun loungers and casual seating. This accommodation has two infinity pools a bar on the beach which serves rum punch to die for and lunch bites The Havanna club serves a good hearty breakfast with a good variety of choices lunch and dinner were equally as good with some local favourites thrown in chicken rotis was one of our faves Scarborough centre is only a short 5 minute drive away The staff were extremely friendly helpful and resourceful I would most certainly return when I next visit Tobago and I strongly reccomend this hotel…
This place is a waste of time I won't advise anyone to even bother expecting a well deserved holiday here. You can get much better places with much better prices. The location here is horrible, its away from everything. The staff is very pleasant and by staff I mean the room service and the bartenders across the street the receptionist and management are god awful. If you like run down old shacks away from everything that Tobago has to offer then this place is for you,but its certainly not for me enjoy
