Breathtaking is an understatement for this luxurious Tobagonian hideaway. This exclusive resort is built on a stunning 4.5-acre beachfront property, dotted with lush coconut and almond groves. Nestled into the beautifully secluded Bacolet Bay, the suites offer stunning panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and nearby Bacolet Bay. This delightful club is committed to providing guests with luxury and personal service. Its intimate size encourages a particularly warm and family-friendly atmosphere, which has been fostered by its owner’s years of travel experience strutting the international catwalks across Europe. The resort’s 50 ocean-front suites have been styled to reflect a cross-cultural aesthetic; Asian-inspired silk elements blend nicely with curlicued pieces and modernist fixtures in a chic manner. Throughout the rooms, the balance with nature is very evident. The airy interiors are filled with luxurious details, such as delicately beaded lamps and grand, silk-covered chaise.

Location: Some 25 min by car from the airport, and around 2 kms out of Scarborough. Beautiful setting in green surroundings with lots of flowers and birds, with a private little beach. However no other restaurants or points of interest very close. In my opinion it is a good choice if you really want peace and quiet . You will need transports wherever you want to go.

Rooms:
Comfortable bed
Fridge and Coffe /tea making facilities
Make sure you book a room with sea view. Those with pool view also has a good view TO the room from the pool and all who pass by on their way to the beach
We missed somewhere to hang our towels In the bathroom, and also a rack or line for wet swimwear

Restaurant
The cafe Havana had barely average breakfast selection. You can order omelets and eggs, however the waiters dont offer it to you - you have to ask. Their toaster is the slowest I have come across, and caused a queue every morning.
Dinner menue included a lot of lobster dishes and a variety of other dishes, including some vegetarian. Some dishes had a real small size
It is hard to keep an open air restaurant spottless in a tropical climate, however a thorough cleaning and a lick of paint would is now very needed at this place. The staff seemed to work really hard, and it was always a pleasure to have the cheerful Nathalie as our waiter.

Beaches and pools
The beach is a lovely secluded little gem. However a long flight of uneven stairs to get there. Not suitable for people with walking issues. There is a beach bar and plenty of sunbeds. Nice clean pools near the main buildings

Staff
The reception is one of the weakest points of this hotel, and some of the staff there was quite confused and made mistakes. However In general we were mer with smiling faces and helpful people at the hotel.

The hotel is in a lovely area, with a beautiful private beach and lush grounds with many mature tropical trees. The rooms are spacious and bright, air conditioned and ours had a large balcony with comfortable chairs. The bathroom was tired and ‘open plan’ into the room, this was not to our taste. Toiletries were very limited so make sure you take your own. Housekeeping was a bit iffy and I think if they could get away with not servicing your room the staff would do so, I had to ask for the sheets to be changed after day 5 and even then there was a hole in the top sheet.

The extensive hotel grounds are generally attractive but areas on the west side which guests use on a regular basis are not maintained, there were piles of rubbish and discarded building materials, containers with dead plants and numerous weeds, broken lights and exposed cables. We never saw any staff members in these areas and this view was supported by the discarded drink and food containers and a towel that never moved the 10 days we were there. Almost any hotel we have been to before had staff who tidied loungers and sunshades at the end of the day, don’t expect it here.

Café Havana was nothing like we expected from the photos in the brochure or what can be found online. The floor has been painted black the chairs have seen better days, fans were dusty and dirty. The toilets whilst clean, doors were grubby and handles sticky. The food was freshly cooked and I cannot fault the quality, but expect a lot of items not be available and a very restricted ‘all inclusive’ menu, for example spirits are limited and you pay extra for bottled water. The hotel includes a beach bar which was open once during the day when we were there, other than that expect an 80+ step journey back to Café Havana for a drink or food, no one will come and take your order from the beach. On a Friday night the hotel lays on a beach bbq for guests and non residents. The atmosphere was great, food was varied and tasty and even the bar was open, it is a shame as this gave us a taste of how good it could have been.

The Hotel staff are friendly but need to be managed to ensure customers have the experience they are paying for. I realise Covid has impacted the hospitality industry but feel there is no excuse for some of the problems we have described.

On returning home we complained to our travel agent who took it up with the hotel management who either denied our complaints (photos do not lie) or suggested we should have made them aware of issues whilst we were there, but, I was not there to do their job for them and most of the issues require ongoing maintenance and are not fixable in a few days. I suggest they stop posting misleading photos on social media and take on board some of the issues we raised. Despite a beautiful location, amazing beach and good food we feel that we overpaid for what we got and would not go back.

This was my second stay at Bacolet Beach Club. The first time was in 2019 for a girl’s trip so I really wanted to go back with my partner.
He booked a package for us as my birthday gift. We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. The package was inclusive of breakfast and lunch with a complimentary massage for 1.
I could notice the difference between my stay pre pandemic now but they did a really good job at maintaining all their facilities. The pools were exceptionally clean and felt pretty warm, even at night. The room was spacious and the beds facilitated a really comfortable night’s sleep for my partner and I.
Breakfast was good but the real star of the show was the tuna they made for lunch. It was amazing!
The massage was very relaxing, the masseuse made sure that I was very comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and everyone adhered to restrictions placed due to the pandemic.
All in all an exceptional mini vacation, even during a pandemic. We had fun, so much so that we barely took pictures.
Best birthday gift ever!

Staff were really friendly and hard working, the setting of the hotel and it's private beach are very nice. However, the hotel is very tired and anyone expecting 4* quality (as advertised) will have every right to feel disappointed and mislead. We had a "junior penthouse", so a premium room. It was worse than shabby, it was grubby and in a state of some distress. I have no idea when any money was last spent on it, likely many years ago. The bathroom fittings were shocking (see photos) and the electrical fittings unnerving. The wardrobe doors were frankly dirty. We complained about the room and told we'd get moved after 4-days, nothing came of this. Meanwhile the water went off on more than one occasion and for the last two day's, the bedroom and bathroom were not cleaned, although, bizarrely, clean towels were left but soiled ones were not taken away. The restaurant whilst in a nice setting and with lovely staff, was distressed. The veranda rail had paint peeling so badly it stuck to your skin if you made the mistake of leaning on it. Food was fine albeit at breakfast, it was hit and miss if you could find all of the basics available each day. Management disputes this but that was the case. If you want cheap and cheerful then you'll be fine here but, if like us, you paid for a premium product on the back of a Virgin Holiday's brochure, then you will likely be disappointed and certainly, if you are unlucky enough to have booked a "junior penthouse".

The staff and the beach was the best part of staying at the hotel for us.
The food at cafe havana disappointing, a limited breakfast menus was not the complaint but that the sausages were undercooked, bacon oily and salty, terrible bread and everything Else was tasteless. Coffee tasted burnt. We also had sandwiches for lunch, I did not get my coleslaw and sandwiches were soggie and tasteless.
We stayed in a bay room on the ground floor for 2 nights, the bed sheets for covering with is paper thin so make sure to ask for a blanket like we did for the Second night.
There also isn’t any dark out drapes in the room, so if you are light sensitive and likes sleeping in don’t count on that at this hotel.
The room was also dated and had limited furniture so there isn’t much place to lay out items comfortably.
The pool was merky and there was broken lounge chairs around the area.
However the beach is shaded, cool and small. A very nice cove with lounge chairs and umbrellas.
Overall, I would say that it makes me sad to have to write negative things about a local hotel
But I do hope that these little improvements are made to provide a better guest experience. Such as maybe having guest stay at the better room when available and a little effort placed on the preparation of food.
The staff however, were kind and friendly and we are grateful for the early check in and late check out that they provided to us.

We stayed at Bacolet Beach Club for the first time for a few days. We stayed in one of the tower suites, facing the sea. Positives- the views were absolutely amazing! It was the highlight of our stay. As a family, we could relax on the balcony and enjoy the sea breeze and watch the surroundings peacefully. The suite was also generally comfortable. In addition, the food at the restaurant was generally tasty and staff generally helpful and polite.

Negatives-similar to previous reviews, the overall hotel and grounds are in need of maintenance and refurbishment. This detracted from the overall impression of the property. I’m not sure if this is a consequence of covid? The water pressure in the bathrooms in our rooms wasn’t great the first couple of days but improved towards the end of our stay.

In addition, the housekeeping of the rooms was poor. We complained a couple times, particularly on one day when it was obvious they hadn’t cleaned properly.

As the property is in hilly surroundings, there are lots of steps to the rooms and down to the beach. As there are no lifts, it’s therefore not wheelchair accessible or suitable for guests who may have mobility issues.

Overall, while the views and food were great, I left disappointed with the stay. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone until the necessary maintenance works were completed to the property and there was improvement to housekeeping.

- if you are searching for everything to be perfect in terms of fauna and foliage, private beach, multiple pools, personalized service, a can do attitude from the management and staff, luscious food with everything cooked from scratch in its two restaurants - you have come to the right place.

It sits along what used to be a main road taking you up to Roxborough and Charlottteville but since the opening of the Claude Noel highway much of the traffic has disappeared - thank goodness. It is just outside from Scarborough the main town and well away from the hustle and bustle of Crown Point though one can be there in 30 mins.

If you want to spend your vacation photographing the rusty light fixtures instead of the birds that approach you when you are having breakfast my heart goes out to you as you are missing the point sadly.

All I know is that the many times I have been to stay at Bacolet Beach Club I have felt welcomed and cherished.

Well this hotel might not be a swish 5 star establishment but just remember you are in the carribean . The staff and owners could not have worked harder to make our two weeks stay a pleasure and good experience. We were upgraded to the top floor of the new wing, ok we were lucky they were available. For a small hotel we could not have asked for more, amazing sea views with a balcony big enough to have a party on. There are 2 small pools with plenty of sun beds if you didn’t want to go down to the beach. But be aware there are a lot of steps and levels so something to note if you have any access issues. Access to the private sandy beach was down quite a few steps so again, may not be good for some people. But I must say we had wonderful time there, not too good for snorkeling, brilliant for body surfing, plenty of sun beds. Most days there were no more than a dozen people on the whole beach. We did have full board and we pre ordered lunch down at the beach which worked a treat. It is rustic but like I say this is the Caribbean! We organised a few trips through the hotels taxi/excursions on offer. Ricky was our driver and he was good company and was able to adapt to any requests we had. Just to mention the restaurant Havana Cafe - Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice both hot and cold. All the food was excellent and at lunch and in the evenings they even prepared different dishes that we asked for and were happy to oblige. The staff were so friendly- Asha , Donna, Donnabel to name a few! One thing for sure it always pays to TALK to the management about any problems as any issues we had were resolved quickly.

This stay was supposed to be a luxury 4* week of relaxation to round off a 3 week visit to Tobago. We had chosen badly as the resort is a long way from anywhere and there were few places to walk to. With a room only stay we were captive guests for expensive food and drink at the on site Cafe Havana. Some aspects of the resort were good. The internet works well and if you know how to manage an Amazon Firestick, you can find any tv channel you wish. Although the beach has steep steps for access, it is lovely and was kept clean and tidy. Our room was fine, or would have been apart from two things. It was an ocean view which was lovely but the room was by the pool and on the path to the beach so the curtains needed to be kept drawn all the time as people stared in. Also there were far too many things that did not work. We reported most of them and a technician turned up promptly. The whole property was kept in a reasonable state of order but it needs more than running maintenance to live up to descriptions on web sites. 4* it most certainly is not. One ugly incident at the start of our stay set the tone for us. On our first morning we decided to have a cup of coffee in the room to start the day but there was no milk or creamer. We asked the young lady on reception if we could have milk. She told us 'You are here in Tobago and it is not our culture to take milk in coffee. If you want any, you must get a taxi to the supermarket in Scarborough and buy some'. We did. That was ugly!

Dear JeanO744, Thank you for your recent review of our hotel. We are very pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. However, I'm very surprised about the latter part of your review. Our staff are normally commended for their friendly can-do attitude and this is not a reflection of the usual high standards we pride ourselves in. Any guest requiring condiments like milk, sugar, coffee etc, or any assistance for that matter, can indeed approach our staff members at the Front Desk or any of my colleagues in the restaurant who would be more the willing to assist in providing this. And BTW, we certainly drink milk in our tea here in Tobago too :-) I will be sure to feedback your comments to the Desk to ensure that this never occurs again. Thank you once again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you again soon. Regards Renee Guest Relationship Manager

This is an excellent small to medium sized hotel in the best island of the five main islands we have visited.
Gloria, the owner and her staff certainly run a good ship and she and her partner are often seen buzzing around making sure everything is as it should be.
The hotel has several steps down to the beach, (about 80 from our room). We liked it as it kept us fit, though less fit people may find it a challenge.
We stayed in the Tower, huge rooms, very clean, good, fast shower, maid comes every day, good tea and coffee making and well stocked and replenished mini bar. V comfortable and huge bed, nice sheets, pillows.
Internet is v fast and work everywhere, even right down in the sea.
We were on all-inclusive for 14 days – and the food was excellent all the time and apart from one evening, so was the service too. Very good.
Prices in restaurant and at bar were reasonable, (same as you would pay in UK), though as I say, we were on all inclusive deal.
Being a small hotel, the restaurant is not huge but of good enough size and it is NOT buffet service, so that is good too - the staff are very efficient in taking orders and the food was always great, with I thought, a very good range indeed, for all tastes.
What is also nice is that the main restaurant is sheltered, but also open enough and airy, so you are not entering an air-conditioned hole like you get in some huge hotels.
There is, however, buffet service only in the morning. The range of fruit here could be better and it would be nice to have fresh fruit juice and plain yoghurt. But that is my only criticism of the entire stay,
Near the beach, in the daytime you can order from the restaurant down there, they call the order up to the restaurant and the same great food magically appears, bought down by the staff, who clearly are very fit from all the walking up and down the steps.
Beach night on Mondays was fun, same food again, very good, with a bonfire on the beach, though I wonder that the management has not considered doing a BBQ.
Beach is decent size, v clean, some fun waves too.
Minister Beach, 17 mins walk away and about half a mile long is great too, a perfect tropical beach and with no one on it at all, some good waves, but safe bathing.
I highly recommend this place.
Great holiday. Go!

Hi. Our 5 night package included breakfast and lunch... which allowed us the freedom to go out for dinner and explore the popular restaurants in the area. Food and drinks are moderately priced... about 50 pounds can get you a nice dinner and drinks for two (depending on your preferences). There are also some really nice restaurants in the area you can check out for lunch or dinner if you so choose. It all depends on your personal taste... but in my opinion, the food at the hotel's Cafe Havana is amazing!

Sorry we went in late September - weather then was great; except one day we had a tropical storm which was the worst for over ten years. The staff seemed to think the weather would be even better later in the year.
