I took our family some time before we booked this small but well equipped 3 star resort in Yasawas. We wanted to take the 4 nights Yasawas cruise but opted for this resort to be able to plan our daily activities ourselves. Most transfers in this times are closed or only on limited travel therefore with this resort having its own boat to facilitate transfers was big deal and cost effective plus just a 2hr ride from lautoka. Upon reaching the resort, you are greeted by the friendly staff with songs and garlands and quickly taken to reception and into your room in no time. The beach close to this resort is few minutes walk but amazing with white sand, crystal clear water and abundance of colorful fish to see and swim with. Most swimming gear and water based activities are free and available for use for guests. We booked a deluxe room for our family which was nice with AC, fly screens and enough space for 4 of us. We were than upgraded to a superior room which was even better with its own family sized spa and outdoor shower. Our kids loved this. the food was lovely and different meals during lunch and dinner. The resort has a farm to table concept with its own gardens and lots of fruit tress planted. We had some of the best pineapples and bananas at breakfast everyday and lunch and dinner was always a delight. The boys in activities took us for fishing, guided snorkeling trips and also a visits to the caves, all of which was value for money and best trips we have taken. The rain during our stay was a bit of worry but we were out everyday either fishing, swimming, snorkeling with the fish or out with the kids playing on the white sandy beach. Some reviews we read complain of value for money, but we felt we got a "deal" taking into accounts transfers (2 hours each way on speed boat), meals, rooms size and facilities and activities. To enjoy Yasawas and to visit nearby islands was amazing and to have fire dancers and Fijian night entertainers from the nearby villagers was also a bonus, an incredible experience for the whole family. The resort staff from the ladies in dinning and bar areas , Management team of Alefina and Akuila, the activity boys, Josese and Vili and the owners Ivan and Val Parker (Queenslanders) in particular made this trip a hard one to forget and we for one recommend this resort to anyone looking for good and relaxed family time. we booked 3 nights but stayed 5 and kids felt we needed more time. thanks to the Team at Nanuya Island Resort for being such lovely hosts. A truly amazing Yasawas experience. Thank you Ivan and Val Parker .

Bula Shailesh, on behalf of all the staff and management here at Nanuya Island Resort, we’d like to thank you for the very positive review covering your stay with us – and it’s so pleasing to hear that we exceeded all expectations. With Covid seriously impacting the world and our little piece of Paradise, we are seeing less visitors than usual BUT this do not mean we treat these lesser numbers with any reduction in our desire to provide the best of service and attention to detail as possible. You seem to have picked and highlighted the things we are most proud of and those that make the Nanuya Experience so special. Our proximity to the iconic and world famous Blue Lagoon makes Nanuya Island Resort a special spot – we are in fact the only resort on the island where the lagoon is located. Having our own exclusive boat for the extra fast transfer between the mainland and Nanuya again sets us apart and this decision to expend a significant amount of capital to offer our guests during this difficult time has proven to be well worthwhile. The beaches and coral reefs just a short swim or boat ride off shore from Nanuya Island resort which is now a Marine Reserve and we are very pleased that you and your family got to see the colourful fish and marine life that is returning to the area under the new marine restrictions. Thank you for also taking notice of the resort plantation where so much of our food is ‘home grown’ for the guests’ comfort and choice. We strive to provide an ongoing and consistent array of meal options and choices unlike many other resorts who tend to stick to a set weekly menu. Nanuya Island Resort is also blessed to have just across the waters one of Fiji’s best ‘local’ performance troupe and we are so proud that these singers and dancers provide us and our guests with a genuine performance so unlike the very touristy routines experienced in the mainland hotels. In addition the dance troupe from the ‘other side’ of the island gives our guests a fabulous show based around the sounds and dance styles of the Pacific region which you have noted features the awesome Fire Dance from Samoa. …and so finally, we must thank you for acknowledging our staff who even in these most difficult of times, find a way to give every guest a special part of the Fijian experience – from the welcome song, breakfast greeting and on through all facets of our service. We will definitely pass on those well wishes to the staff you make special mention of. Shailesh , all of us here at Nanuya thank you for the kind words and hope that you might again visit us in the years ahead where we can again welcome you, Raghni, Yash & Kaira , and renew acquaintances with your new friends. Vinaka & Island Regards Val & Ivan Parker, and our Nanuya Family

Bula Kevin and Nathalie, Vinaka and thank you for the very kind review in relation to your recent stay with us at Nanuya Island Resort. We are pleased to hear that your experience in one of our treetop bures was so enjoyable and we agree, the views from up there are truly awesome. The staff strive at all times to make your stay memorable and filled with the Nanuya spirit. We will pass on your kind thanks to both Moses and Josh and all other staff who helped make your stay so special. The caves are of course an essential part of any Nanuya experience as is the many snorkeling opportunities to be found as close as the Marine Reserve just in front of the resort. We are so pleased we made your honeymoon special and hope that one day you will again visit us here at our ‘Island Home’. Your welcome song and fruit cocktail will be waiting! Vinaka Linda

This is a great little resort. Our welcome and check in were perfect and painless - we were told everything we needed to know for our stay. The resort is located perfectly for snorkeling near by or further afield if you take a FOC paddle board/kayak or go on one of the organised guided trips (Thanks Moses!). Food is available at set times which is told to you at check in and is also written in the book in your room. Breakfast is a typical small continental but you can add on. Lunch and Dinner are small menus but HUGE portions. There are a couple of bars which are reasonably priced and a shop if you need any extras. Our bure had an unbelievable view and was very clean - although I recommend taking lots of bug spray to ward off the mozzies! We were slightly disappointed that we didn't get more coffee as it was nice to wake up and chill out on the balcony with some of the local stuff but we only had to walk downstairs and have some with breakdfast. There are massage/spa facilities and we were even given some complimentary services upon check in which was a lovely touch. Check out was slightly painful and did take a long time as the itemized billing is not done in a very logical way and it did take a number of staff to confirm that we had been charged for a item twice. So I'd say do check your bills (we had someone elses drinks on one tab too). It was all resolved eventually but did sour our last day which is a shame. All the staff are super friendly and helpful, they'll always be around to chat or just say thanks. We met Ivan (one of the resort owners) on our first night and he was very accommodating and told us that if we needed anything to let him know. We met his wife, Val, the next night and she was equally as friendly. Summary - Great resort, amazing location, fantastic staff. Vinaka.

Bula Adam and Sophie, Firstly a very big Fijian Vinaka for your lovely and expansive review. We always love to hear from satisfied guests who take the time to publish their reviews and thoughts concerning our resort. You clearly enjoyed the food, the views, the snorkeling experiences and of course the friendly staff at Nanuya Island Resort. We will be sure to pass on your positive thoughts to Moses, who just loves to show off the reefs and coral planting that is going on here and nearby – he would have told you the area is now a Marine Reserve and will only get better as more coral grows and expands across the Blue Lagoon. As the wet season approaches, the need for insect repellent increases but does not impact on a guest’s stay, as you discovered. Regarding, your check out issue – we endeavour to make this process as painless as possible but do suggest guests check out in plenty of time should there be a discrepancy or issue with the final bill. We are however happy that it was rectified and was overall a minor glitch to you holiday with us. Thank you again for choosing Nanuya Island Resort and we hope to be able to welcome you ‘home’ again some day when you visit again. Vinaka Linda

Bula Roja and Jurgen, Greetings from Nanuya Island Resort! Thank you for your very positive review covering your very recent stay with us all here in the awesome Yasawa Islands. We will pass on your comments to Moses and I’m sure he’ll have a big Fijian smile on his face. He takes his role seriously and in particular the protection of reefs and coral – we are so pleased you enjoyed the coral planting experience with him. Our primary objective is to give guests western style comfort but with the right taste of Fijian hospitality, culture and of course, song! We are pleased you found both the meals and accommodation to your liking. We’re sure we’ll see you again and will be on the beach with our welcome song and drink to greet you home! Thanks again for the kind review. Vinaka

We are travellers/backpackers travelling around the world at the moment. In our time we already stayed in multi-dorm rooms, AirBnBs as well as Resorts/Hotels all over the world. We never spent so much money per night in our whole lifetime for a hotel/resort as we did for Nanuya Island Resort. Therefore we had high expectations. To our dissatisfaction, these expectations were not met at all. We list the pros & cons in the following section to give an objective overview: Pro's: - the beach on the island was really nice. Please note, the beach is not in front of the hotel area but in 5 minutes walking distance. - provides good snorkelling. We had 2 different snorkelling areas in front or close to the resort. You can see a lot of fish and a few corals as well. - free equipment & activities provided by the resort (Snorkelling Equipment, Guided Snorkelling tour, etc.). - good dinner. - a small part of the stuff is motivated/friendly, laughs and knows your name by heart - complaints are listened respectfully and addressed. In our case, they paid us the transport back to the main island. Cons: - No Value for Money spent. The price for the resort is too high compared to what you get. - Rooms are partly shabby (doors etc.) - slide door in our room was a dangerous construction. It fell out of the mounting several times. Could easily hurt you if your are not cautious enough. When the slide is closed, there are still big gaps where lots of mosquitos & lizards can enter your room. - Our room should have had a whirlpool (that's what we booked). 3 out of 6 nights, it did not work. We had to complain several times (they had many 'random excuses'), until the whirlpool worked appropriately. Additionally, after using it on the 4th night the water started smelling really bad the next day. They told us, that they don't clean it with chlorine, but rather exchange the whole water with new water. - deckchair area is dirty and was never cleaned in a whole week - Breakfast buffet is really small. You will only get a few fruits, toast, cereals, coffee and jam/butter. Everything else costs extra (e.g. eggs benedigt, eggs with bacon etc.). - Dinner is too expensive regarding the high price you already pay for a room/night. - Cocktail bar closed at 9 p.m. even though it should be opened until 11 p.m. - happy hour is not a happy hour at all. Instead of 12 FJD for a big beer, you pay 10 FJD. What kind of happy hour is that? - most of the staff seems not motivated at all. - Wifi insanely expensive. 1HR/4.13€, 4HR/14.46€, 24HR/33.06€ Please note: We struggled a lot to choose a hotel for Fiji. We know quite well that there are many different reviews with lots of contradictory content. However, we want to emphasise once more, we tried to be as objective as possible in our review which is reflecting the experiences we had at Nanuya Island Resort. Therefore, we highly advise anyone NOT to book Nanuya Island Resort. The price for a 3 star resort is insanely high & the service/value you will get is much too low for what you pay.

Bula Vinaka David and Nina, Thank you for your comments. It is always good to receive opinions and comments on how we can continue to improve the overall operation here at Nanuya Island Resort. Firstly, we are pleased that you recognized the appeal and quality of the location. We are of course only a 5 to 10 minute walk to the iconic Blue Lagoon Point – the site for which virtually all other resorts have to pay to reach! At Nanuya Island Resort, it’s a walk along the sandy beach and nothing more! The water area in front of the Resort has recently been declared a Marine Reserve which will see the location and quality of reef, reef fish and overall experience being even further enhanced in the months and years to come. Our decision to provide all water activity equipment free of charge means less spend once you have arrived and we note you clearly took advantage of the snorkels and the guided snorkelling tour. Your positive comments on the dinner are appreciated. I’ll expand on this later. The staff are our greatest asset and again we are thankful you found most to be motivated, friendly and pleasant to be around. Now, we move on to the parts of your stay you were not positive about. 1: Room cost – We must take a slightly alternate view to your comments about price and costing. Firstly, as you would be aware, this part of the Yasawa Islands is more than 5 hours from what most would call ‘ civilization’ and therefore the cost of building a resort, maintaining of same and the general running costs of the operations, means we and all others in the area, by necessity MUST be dearer than other mass market destinations. Nanuya Island Resort is when we last did a comparison on room rates for similar standard properties in the area, in the mid price range. We would ask you and any others reading your review to do such a price comparison. In the interests of transparency, we should also point out that you were upgraded (at no price increase) to our Luxury Villa for the first two nights. This represented a significant price increase on the room rate and we would have hoped you had appreciated this gesture. People can view the Luxury Villa on our website – most would agree it is a fabulous experience. Regarding the slide door issue you mentioned. We have a full time maintenance team that lives on site and we would ask that ALL guests request service to correct any issue such as this. The only way we can maintain the property services is by being made aware of any such problem. I would advise that the door issue has been resolved and we have had no subsequent issues. Of course mosquitoes, lizards and other ‘critters’ are a part of island life – and it’s why we include insect repellent etc in all our rooms. Regarding, the spa (whirlpool) we must apologize for the staff not advising you when you moved to your Superior room (after the two nights in the Luxury Villa) that the spas are all turned off at night unless guests specifically request them to be on. This decision was made at the request of many former guests who did not appreciate the 6 hourly cycle where the motor came on and disturbed their sleep. Again, the staff should have mentioned this to you at time of entering the villa. The decision to clean the spa by removing the ‘dirty’ water and replacing with clean water comes down to a health issue and rather than use chlorine, we prefer to opt for a more natural cleaning method. We should point out Nanuya Island Resort won the Sustainability Award in 2017 from resorts right across Fiji and take the area of sustainability and eco consciousness as a priority. We would need to clarify what you mean by the Deckchair area being dirty. Room staff service all units, villa and bures on a daily basis but will make your observations known to staff to ensure any area within or without needs to be addressed as part of their routine. A Light Breakfast by its very nature is small and consists of cereals, fruits, toast, jam, butter and tea/coffee. We like to call it a Pacific Style Continental breakfast. Most people seem content to have a light meal but as you note, there is the availability to order eggs, bacon etc should you be happy to pay for it. The light breakfast is included in the room rate. Our dinner menu changes daily and we strive to provide a range of western style meals but utilizing local produce to help make it a slightly Fijian meal experience. Most of our fruit and vegetables are grown on our own plantation while seafood is purchased directly from the village fisherman and thus driving revenue back to the villages. Again, because of the ‘tyranny of distance’ all other food items must be purchased from the mainland (Nadi etc) which means of course, pricing of meals has to factor these costs into a selling price. If anybody would like to do a review of pricing at similar standard restaurants within resorts in the Yasawa Islands, you will find we are more than competitive. Our bar closes when the last guest departs for the night and given we are in a serene and very peaceful part of the world, without mirror balls and night life, this means that by 8.30 or 9 pm most if not all guests are tucked up in bed and enjoying the quiet and solitude of the island experience. I am sure you would appreciate somebody trying to sleep in the nearby villas would not appreciate a bar operating until 11pm – that’s just not the Yasawa and Nanuya way! Happy Hour is just that – an hour where guests are invited to meet and mingle around the bar prior to dinner. It does not mean 50% discount on all drinks for example. We have a daily cocktail special to entice people to enjoy the talents of the bar staff but nowhere do we make any mention of across the board discount on drinks. WIFI is expensive in the Yasawa Islands – You should not be surprised to find that being 5 hours + from civilization, means the costs of maintaining even a barely serviceable WIFI service can be and is quite high. Reception in this part of the world is patchy at best and costly to maintain. We suggest guests bring their own phones with a suitable roaming package OR buy a card in Nadi that they can use while in remote areas such as the Yasawa Islands. Finally it’s disappointing to see your final statement. I would only ask people to review the majority of reviews (even the last half dozen or so) and you’ll see a completely opposite view point coming across. It would seem the type of vacation you were looking for might be better found in Bali or Thailand where you get the trappings of modern life but are seeing the erosion of local culture and environment. We would hope that one day after you have traveled some more, you might once again return to the Yasawa Islands – it is indeed as pristine as you can get while still providing most but not all the creature comforts of the Western world. Vinaka and Happy Travels.
