This was my 6th visit to Fiji and my 3rd visit to the Blue Lagoon Beach Resort. Previously, I was here in June 2019 & September 2022. To be honest, the room rates, price of the meal plans and the price of the drinks from the bar have increased since the beginning of this year, in tandem with the rising costs of the essential supplies and logistics for everything that needs to be shipped out here. This trip, I traveled here together with my uncle, just as I did in 2022. Here is the breakdown my review: 1) Accommodation: In September 2022, my uncle and I stayed in Garden Villa 8 for 7 nights. For this visit, I had booked the same room for 5 nights. However, we received a complimentary upgrade to Beachfront Villa 5 for all 5 nights! SUPER AWESOME! Loyalty does pay off!!! Many thanks to Vika, the assistant general manager of this resort, for the free upgrade! The Beachfront villas have air-conditioning and a flat-screen TV with a hard-disk full of movies and popular songs. The TV in the rooms don't have any live channels, the only TV that has live channels, such as sports and news channels, is located in the sandy lounge, next to the restaurant and bar area. 2) Activities: During this visit, my uncle decided to try scuba diving for the first time ever, so he did the PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) course. PADI dive instructor Hannah, who is also the dive center manager, was my uncle's instructor and she is the most patient and friendly dive instructor that I have ever known. My uncle is almost 70 years-old and hasn't spent much time in fresh or salt water. It took him a while to get used to the regulator recovery skill, the clearing of the 2nd stage of the regulator and the clearing of water from his mask. Hannah patiently guided him through each and every step of these skills until he eventually completed all the 3 skills. After that, Hannah brought my uncle out to the open sea for a boat dive, as part of the DSD program. I am a PADI Advanced Open Water diver with 80 logged dives, and Hannah allowed me to tag along. We went diving at a dive site called the Cabbage Garden, which had a maximum depth of 12 meters and zero currents. Overall, my uncle had a very enjoyable time with his first ever scuba diving experience and his wish of trying out scuba diving was fulfilled during this holiday! A HUGE THANKS to Instructor Hannah for fulfilling my uncle's wish! She is indeed a splendid dive instructor for complete beginners and for those who lack confidence in the water. As other guests have mentioned, the house reef of this resort is HUGE! My uncle and I went snorkeling and swimming everyday and we still didn't feel bored. Everyday, we saw different things in the house reef; the most notable marine creatures that we saw were 2 juvenile spotted eagle rays which live in the vicinity of the artificial reef installation right next to the house reef. These artificial reefs were designed, built and installed by Counting Coral, an organization which focuses on coral rejuvenation projects. All in-house guests of this resort are allowed to use the snorkeling equipment, kayaking equipment and stand-up paddle boards free of charge. If water-based activities are not your cup of tea, you can always go hiking up the hill behind the resort or go for a stroll on the beautiful 1-kilometre long beach which has the finest sand of any beach in the world. Other complimentary activities here include: morning yoga, basket weaving lessons, kava drinking in the evenings, beach volleyball with the staff, pool volleyball on some days if there are enough participants, crab racing and Fiji trivia competitions once a week. Activities which cost some additional fees are: boat snorkeling excursions, scuba diving, village visits, sunset champagne tubing and the cave trips(highly recommended). 3) Food & Beverage: The food here is AMAZING! Especially the 5-course Ala-carte dinners! You have to experience it to believe it! The Fijian Meke dinner on Friday nights are also a real treat for first-time visitors to Fiji. This is a cultural performance combined with a buffet dinner featuring authentic traditional Fijian fare. The bar is open from 7.30am until late at night, you can order a wide variety of specialty coffees and milkshakes to fruit smoothies and signature cocktails for some additional fees. 4) The Staff: They are absolutely the most genuine, warm and friendly people, ever! The staff remember your name from the first day onwards and they also remember your personal preferences regarding special drinks & food. There is a live band who performs popular mainstream English-language songs and Fijian songs during the dinner service from Monday to Saturday. Guests can join the band on the woven palm mat after dinner and sing along or have some kava. I wish to thank Vika, Hannah, Ana the dive center assistant, Seta, John, Apa, Tamboti, Linda, Timah, Sala, Mari, Maria, Ana in the restaurant, Sulu and several other staff whom I forgot their names. The staff are a crucial factor which helps to give every guest a sensational holiday experience! Kudos to all of you and please keep up the great work! Lastly and not least, I wish to thank Stefan & Chantel, the newly appointed general managers of this resort, who work tirelessly 24/7 behind the scenes, to ensure that everything runs smoothly. IMPORTANT NOTE: Please help to preserve and protect the house reef as well as any coral reefs you might encounter during your holidays around the world by NOT standing on, touching and walking on it, during low tide or otherwise. I highly recommend this resort to anyone(families, couples & individuals) who are looking for a relaxing beach holiday in a dream-like natural setting without crowds and noise.…
