Fantastic hotel with fantastic staff in a fantastic location. We had an amazing holiday here and the overall experience was pretty much faultless. The view from the hotel onto Beau Vallon beach and the sea beyond is breathtaking no matter how many times you see it. The staff are friendly, helpful and do everything with a smile. They are great ambassadors for the hotel and for the Seychelles itself. Our room was really comfortable and the hotels location was perfect for us, as it was on the beach and near a couple of bars and restaurants in Beau Vallon. We are already planning to come back next year. I would add that the hotel was even better than then website pictures suggested.

Beach front villas are beautiful, right on the beach But BEWARE if you are villas 1-5 Early morning and lunchtime local schools descend on the beach in front of your villa to play football volleyball shouting screaming No lay ins or quiet afternoon, we had to move to the pool afternoons for some peace and quiet, not what you want when you’ve paid extra to be in your own private villa with pool Hotel is beautiful and I appreciate it’s a local beach but you should be made aware

My husband and I needed a place to stay from 3pm-10am after we arrived in Seychelles, and before our next flight to Denis Island. We wanted somewhere nice, and thought Story would provide that given it was a five star hotel. We were very disappointed in our experience, and would advise anyone we know not to stay here. Our issues first began when emailing the hotel, as we weren't able to get anyone to answer by phone. We tried to arrange a car to pick us up from the airport, but both of our emails days before our arrival went unanswered (we had an email chain so someone had previously replied- they just ignored our requests for a cab). Once we found our own transportation upon arrival into Seychelles, the checkin process was a mess. It took about 30 minutes to get us to our room (we'd been traveling for hours before and were very exhausted at this point), and another 30 minutes of waiting in our room for our luggage. Ultimately, we got our own luggage from the curb (it was left there by the hotel staff unattended) after we had been at the hotel for an hour, and took it to our room. The beach the hotel was on was very loud, very small, and had a lot of non hotel traffic. This is not something the hotel can control, but it made the experience feel chaotic and not tranquil like we hoped (fortunately, our stay on Denis Island and the Four Seasons Seychelles Mahe more than made up for this). That night, we had a dinner reservation with the Japanese restaurant on site. Apparently the systems had crashed and deleted all reservations in the prior days, and we were told our reservation wouldn't be honored as a result. No mention of this upon check in to allow us time to figure out a backup plan, which would have been a lot more appreciated than being turned away at 7.30 pm. When we asked the front desk for help, no apology or assistance was provided- every error made by the hotel seemed to be a problem they did not care about and we were made to feel like we were intruding when asking for help. We decided to walk on the beach to get to another restaurant for dinner- and the flashlight in our room was dead. The front desk again seemed irritated we wanted another- we ended up just using our phones. We asked if we could convert USD to Seychelles currency the morning we left- took about 30 minutes of checking to let us know whether they had any currency to give us. Overall, custom service was abysmal. No error made by the hotel was ever apologized for, and it seemed like they were annoyed at us coming to them for help. It felt nothing like a five star hotel, from the guest treatment to the beach to the room, which felt old and worn. However, we did love the Four Seasons Mahe, and Denis Island, and would recommend these hotels if you stay in Seychelles. Both were magical.

Dear traveler434697, Thank you for taking the time to review us. First let me apologize for everything that went wrong. It is not the way anyone would like to start a vacation. Unfortunately it is true that we had a system failure that lasted for about a week which we are still currently recovering from and all information at the time was lost and we had to do everything manual. I do hope if you ever come to the Seychelles again you would pass by and experience us under more normal circumstances' Kind regards Johannes Steyn General Manager

Story is a wonderful hotel decorated in colonial style with great personnel that made our stay way beyond our expectations, from the manager to the housekeepers. I didn't let them know, but this trip was my birthday present, so it was very important for me that I enjoyed my stay. Anything we asked, we received - champagne in the room with a nice card, flowers everywhere, a photographer for a private photo shooting, floating trays for breakfast in the pool, picnic on the beach at sunset, custom trips on the islands, a soccer ball for my child. We ate at all the restaurants and the food was great. The Eden and the Paris restaurants are very romantic and at the japanese restaurant the staff was so funny and nice that we went twice. Don't miss their vanilla ice cream. The boys played tennis almost everyday. The beach is well kept and perfect for long walks. The entire resort is not crowded or noisy and even there were also families with kids, they didn't disturb the atmosphere for the honeymooners. I miss the place already.

Great experience with a huge property and so many dinning options with different style of cusines. The portions are amazing, so if you have a good taste bud, be prepared to gain few kilos after your visit. Service is also great and you do not have to call more than once to get what you need. Highly recommended.

Nice resort with several restaurants on property. My stay was one week. I enjoyed participating in the free activities during my stay. This included yoga, kayaking, core training. I wanted to do the snorkeling, but changed my mind after meeting a blue jellyfish during kayaking. Snorkeling and kayaking depends a lot on the weather, waves and tidewater, and is subject to cancellation if the staff estimate that it’s not safe. Be aware of the marine wildlife when entering the ocean! The resort has a nice gym with a nice view over the lake on the hotel property. There is a variety of cardio machines and dumbbells etc. No barebells and no kettlebells… but plenty of other ways to work out 😊 I did core training on several occasions with gym instructor Erol. He was very inspiring and motivated me to push my self harder and made me try many new exercises. Erol was definitely the highlight of my stay! I was unlucky one time on the beach, and got stung by a blue jellyfish. Erol was there right after, and performed good first aid. He is definitely my hero on the Seychelles. A few of the less positive things: the rooms were only cleaned every other day. I found a big long black hair in my teapot at the breakfast restaurant (after drinking the tea), and in general the staff at the breakfast restaurant had difficulties remembering the orders, or bringing the items within a reasonable time (example: it shouldn’t be necessary to wait +30 min for simple things like a coffee). The restaurants and room service has good quality food, but it was pretty pricy compared to what you can get outside the resort. They only had very few vegan options, and clearly didn’t focus on plant based alternatives at all. Generally the facilities were well maintained, but there were a few places were they were lacking behind. The gym had 2 broken windows and in my room, the bathroom could use some attention from maintenance. They organized an “environmental day” with focus on sustainability during my stay. This included a beach cleanup and things like that. To me it appeared to be “greenwashing”. They a/c was on full power everywhere, and all buildings were poorly isolated. Single layers of glass and gaps at all doors. Also I didn’t see any organic options on any of the resort restaurants or breakfast menu… so to use the word sustainable in the context of a vacation on this resort is probably an overestimate. But the thought was nice, and at least a beach cleanup is a good start 😊

Day one. Colin met us as we were dropped of by our taxi. What an amazing greeting. One wonderful guy, helped my lesser able partner, took us to reception. Marella at reception was an absolute star, sorted out room quickly, efficiently and very happy doing it. Ate tonight at Vasco’s, superb, cannot fault at all. Bar staff at 1502 brilliant. I’m in love with this hotel and their staff. Day two to follow……

The well-kept hotel complex is located on the most beautiful stretch of beach in Beau Vallon. The public areas and hotel rooms are well equipped with attention to detail. The hotel staff are always friendly and helpful and ensure that every day of your holiday is carefree and relaxed. You feel welcome and cared for everywhere. The serenity and calm is also transferred to the guests. Varied and delicious food in both the standard and specialty restaurants. Local cuisine as well as Japanese teppanyaki, buffet or à la carte. If you wish, you can even have dinner on the beach. Delicious mocktails sweeten the evening. There was fresh water in sealed glass bottles in the room daily. There was always a free lounger available both on the beach and at the pool. A supermarket can be reached in the immediate vicinity for supplies in between. A bus stop is just a few meters from the hotel entrance. The "Ripples" pool bar was well stocked and offered something for every taste. Our favorite was the mocktail "Tropicana" and the sundae "coffee cup" or milkshakes for the kids.
