Even before the pandemic and a hankering for somewhere easy on the soul and the mind, Plantation Beach Villas was where I would wish I could be. We've been going to PBV, every year for 9 years and on and off for some years before that. We are very fortunate and also travel to other places in the world, particularly Europe but we always look forward to our arrival at PBV and hearing those 2 lovely words from Sean "Welcome home!" Fortunately, we were able to make our annual visit this year, before it became unwise to travel and we already have a reservation for 2021.

The well maintained villas are perfect little replicas of plantation houses of old but with all the modern conveniences. Each villa has a veranda on which one could spend the day reading, listening to the waves and the birds and relaxing. The villas which are beautifully and comfortably furnished are serviced daily by very efficient and extremely courteous villa attendants. With a stunning beach and the Caribbean Sea only steps from the villas, a refreshing pool and the perfect beach bar on the path to the beach ... everything is at hand.

The vegetation, animal and sea life of Tobago is varied and very interesting. The tourist bureau has done a lot to promote showcasing the natural assets of the island in an eco-friendly way.

In recent years very good restaurants have popped up all over Tobago. We often walk the 5 minutes up to "the village" to treat ourselves to fantastic local food. This year, an ice cream shop opened and the ice cream is amazing.

This was our backyard getaway from the drag and monotony of Covid. They got the name right - beautiful planation style villas with generous sized rooms where you could hear and feel the beach, walking distance to a beautiful stretch of beach and some great restaurants. There was a housekeeper assigned to each villa who could cook local meals for the family if so requested. BBQ and cooking facilities for the fish you caught.

We usually booked around the same time with other families so the kids had the run of the estate; and always ended up extending our stays as we never wanted to go home. No request was too small for Sean and Fiona, who did everything they could before, during and after each trip! The bar has one of the best rum punches too!

We rented two villas for a 30 year reunion and couldn't have had a better time. The villas are spacious, comfortable and surrounded by nature. There is a lovely, quiet beach just across the road (1 minute walk), which we frequented daily.

The villas have large porches with overhead fans and are wonderful for entertaining and relaxing. All the bedrooms are airconditioned and the living and dining areas are large enough for family stays.

There is a pool and beach bar for guests too. There are other bars and restaurants within walking distance and it's a short drive to some nearby beaches and entertainment spots.

We were well looked after by all but the star of the show was Nadine, who cooked some incredible local food for us (you have to try her callaloo) on a couple of occasions as well as taking care of the villas.

I would highly recommend these villas both for adults and for families. The location is peaceful and surrounded by some stunning nature. Expect to see and hear a few different bird species and if you're lucky you might even see an Agouti out and about!

Where do I start!
The villa was perfect, the view was perfect, the beach was perfect, the rumpunch was perfect, the staff was perfect(thanks Sean for the amazing recommendations and service), the ladies helping in the houses were perfect. I had the most perfect vacation in years!
Avoid the restaurant down the road on the beach (Waves) better to have the ladies cook for a fee or fish pot restaurant or even Anchor where the locals hang out.

My group stayed at the Villas to celebrate our 40th Nursing Anniversary. The villas provided the village- home feel that we were hoping to accomplish. We occupied 4 of the 6. The management was thoughtful enough to place us in adjacent villas, which was greatly appreciated. The villas are spacious, has a great living area with outside patio and a fully equipped kitchen. There is daily housekeeping service with some of the friendliest, warmest and most professional individuals. Kudos to all of them. It was a pleasure to walk across the street and go for a walk on the beach early in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.

We’ve just spent a lovely week here in Alamanda, a lovely villa a minute from the pool and a wonderful beach. The villa was spacious and we were very well looked after by Nadine. There are restaurants in walking distance by road or beach. We visited Little Tobago, Pigeon Point and played golf at Magdalena. There are many places to visit and if you like birds, blue motmots, tanagers, fly catchers, bare eyed thrush, doves etc will visit your verandah. We should have stayed longer.

Response from Sean C, Manager at Plantation Beach Villas

Hi Janec, It was a pleasure having you all here with us. We try our best not just for guests to enjoy our facilities, but to actually get out and enjoy all that Tobago has to offer. The Bonus being after a day of exploring you do have the option of staying in and having your Villa Attendant have dinner waiting for you, when it is convenient for you. The area surrounding our villas has also become a beehive of activity with the best eating options on the island, from Bake & Buljol, to Roti, Pizza or the 3 best restaurants on the island, and a great spot to enjoy local ice cream and other deserts, all in walking distance the options are endless. You're right though, a week is not enough, hope to see you again soon.

This is a most beautiful place and thank you to all of the Plantation Beach Villas team for making our stay perfect.

For our 20th wedding anniversary celebration, we had all 6 villas with our friends and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect week away.

Sean’s rum punch for sunset drinks on the beach, the recommendations for what was on locally to enjoy the Tobago vibes, and where to eat, were brilliant.

Everyone was always helpful and the ladies looking after the houses are fantastic cooks!! If you stay, definitely get them to cook for you.

My friends from around the world were blown away by the beautiful houses, the welcome basket of fruit, the birds you can see whilst having a morning coffee on the verandas and spotting iguanas. Also, who could forget the brilliant sunset photos which got highly competitive on our WhatsApp chat!!

Thank you for making it all so special for us, we really couldn’t have asked for more and everyone is already asking when we’re having the reunion!!

We had the most idyllic few days at PBV. The villas are all delightful and there is something relaxing about the way they are set up. Sitting out in the terrace and watching the various birds was a particular pleasure. The pool was great and being right on the beach was brilliant. Sean and Fiona could not have been more helpful and the lady looking after us with cleaning and bit of cooking was charming. What a special place to stay. My only suggestion would be to move the cockerel as he was very insistent to welcome the dawn at 4:00 am!

My parents started coming to PBV over 25 years ago. For a few years, my family and I visited intermittently but in the last 12 my husband and I have made yearly visits. We usually visit with another couple who are as hooked on the place as we are.

The villas fill our needs in every way. They are well laid out, contain everything, are very comfortable and very clean. The villa veranda is the most blissful place to be, oh wait,"our" sandy, 1K beach is another blissful place to be, oh wait, there's the pool and the Barefoot Bar. In the hot afternoons, the breezy bar (delicious rum punches) and cool pool is a very blissful place to be. Lots of local eateries, fruit stands, ice cream, within walking distance of the Villas.

PBV is staffed by employees who have been working there for a long time. They are all proudly Tobagonian, softly spoken, gentle, talented, hard working individuals. From Sean and Fionna in the office to Nadine, Lisa, Shirley in the villas, Anthony and Evander tending the grounds, they make our stay at PBV always a heavenly holiday.

This is my home away from home and I suspect not just mine. When we are there, there are 2 other families, long time "regulars" who have also been coming for years. It takes us 10 hours to get from Vancouver to Tobago but it's worth the journey. I've already reserved for next year.

Really enjoyed our 3 nights here. Very peaceful place. Nice pool and just a minutes walk to the beach. Nadine who serviced the villa was great. We would recommend her home cooking. The villa was clean and well equipped. 5 minutes to great beach bar for cocktails watching the sunset and across the road from it Seahorse Inn for lovely food
Would definitely recommend.
