West Park Guesthouse features 8 connected houses with 2 double rooms and 1 bunkbed room each. Every house has its own shared kitchen and bathroom along with a common area with great views of Snæfellsjökull Glacier. We are the only accommodation located inside the Snæfellsjökull National Park. The Guesthouse features acres of open land and vast lava fields with ocean & mountain views all around. The premises is on a plot of land called Gufuskálar and was actively used in the late 1950's and early 1960's as a US Coast Guard base and was operational until 1994. From 1996 to 2012, the Icelandic National Rescue Team used Gufuskálar for training missions. Since then Gufuskálar was converted into a Guesthouse in the fall of 2017.

We were late planning this part of our trip and there weren't many places left. West Park Guesthouse looked decent, so we booked a room. It's comprised of a series of "houses" (sort of like townhouses or row homes), each with three or four bedrooms and a spacious common area. It was clean and the kitchen seemed well-appointed (although we didn't cook), but the bedroom was a bit on the small side and the bathroom was small as well. Overall I can't say that there was anything out-and-out bad about the place, but there also wasn't much that was out-and-out good either. I suspect that it would have been better if we'd stayed here for a few days to take advantage of the kitchen, and if we'd been in a larger group so that we could have rented the entire "house" instead of sharing it with some strangers. So - if you're traveling with a larger group (5 or 6) and going to be spending a few days or longer, this would likely be a great place to stay.

The house was ok, the kitchen lacked a few necessities for cooking but the common area had great games to play. Our bedroom was quite simple but when I got to the bed I noticed ALOT of HAIRS on the bed. There was hair on the pillow, under it, all over the mattress and just everywhere. It made me very concerned on whether the bed had been cleaned at all and if it was they should make sure whoever makes the bed has their hair tied in a ponytail/bun or even a hairnet so this wouldn't happen. Hairs on a bed is never ok.

Quite. Clean. you want to cook yourself and don’t mind sharing bathroom and kitchen area this is a great place. Bedroom needs blackout blinds because it really doesn’t get dark during summer nights. A little drive away from a town so make sure you have all you need. Laundry area good

Me and my father stayed one night at West Park and it was perfect. The house has everything you need, even laundry and game room equiped with pool and other stuff. We had a problem with the bathroom and they solved it kindly and very fast. We are very very happy with the experience at this place. Thank you very much for everything

If you want to get away, you can’t get much father than this. Located in a national park in Iceland just off the coast. Great place very clean and great WiFi. Very close to a secretary golden sand beach and not far from nearest town and gas station if you need something. Bring your food with you as they have a kitchen. Love the bunk beds in my room. I can spread stuff out on one and sleep on other.
