Clean, comfortable , convenient, bucolic! Positioned in a farm near Route 1. Service was great, perfect breakfast! It feels like home. It was a great experience! Room was big and sparkling clear. It is very quiet.
I spent one night at Kálfafellsstaður en route from Kirkjubæjarklaustur to the Eastfjords, because the place I usually stay at was fully booked. I arrived in the late afternoon. The guesthouse was easy to find and there were enough parking spaces. My credit card had already been charged before arrival as indicated during my booking (non-refundable), so my check-in was easy and quick. Make sure to take off your shoes when entering the house as is expected in most Icelandic residences. My single room was clean and spacious and it had a sink which I appreciated. There was one toilet and shower next door, which wasn't quite enough for all the rooms, so it was a bit difficult to find time to take a shower. The bed was comfortable, the wifi was reliable and breakfast was good. The walls were a bit thin, but since my neighbors weren't very noisy, that was ok. All in all, this was a pretty good option for accommodation between Jökulsárlón and Höfn.…
Came about 30 minutes before check-in and it was No problem. Thora was very lovely and accomodating. There is one bathroom (shower and toilet) upstairs, downstairs the shower and toilet are seperated. She gave us good dinner recommendation and the food was to die for. Excellent breakfast, her home-made jams are super! Would recommend!!
The b&b is located about 20 minutes from the Jökulsárlón lagoon, in a nice and quiet village. The landlady, Thora, is very friendly and makes you feel at home. Everything is clean and well-arranged in the room. The WiFi works well and the room is warm. There is a shared bathroom on the same floor and the kitchen where the guests have their breakfast. However, you can’t use the kitchen to cook your own dinner. Breakfast is simple but nice and there is a choice of jams made by the landlady. It’s a nice touch.
We were really disappointed that the hotel refused to cancel our reservation, due to bad weather conditions. We called and explained the lack of visibility on the roads due to the storm but the staff were inconsiderate and we were unable to show up to our reservation due to our safety. We still attempted to try and get there; however, by the time we hit Vik we had seen three cars on the side of the roads and nearly every other car driving at 30km/hr with their hazards on due to lack of visibility.
