The hotel looks like an army Barack from outside. Inside, it is more shiny, and the rooms are nice and very fresh. It is totally refurbished inside. The check in was quick. The restaurant is like many other Icelandic restaurants outside the cities: all waiters are Eastern European with a strange attitude to service. Meaning no service. We tried their soups for starter. They were ok. They bragged about their special lamb burger which was bad. It tasted sheep in the sheep House, was cold, and the fries was like made 30 mins before served. The ketchup had dried up like it had been poured into the small cup 2 days ago. During covid 19 Iceland will struggle with tourism. To pay attention to the food is a good thing. Nordic travellers are picky when We spend a lot of money in Iceland. This restaurant should really start looking into quality of food and try to add a little bit of charm to the service. The restaurant brings down the whole hotel impression. The breakfast was good, with a large variety of things to choose among. …
A gorgeous hotel, located in the middle of nowhere. The hotel rooms are comfortable and cosy. There is also shower soap and shampoo provided. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful fields and horses. Also, a great location to see the northern lights. The restaurant is excellent for dinner and breakfast too. The staff are very friendly. I would strongly recommend the mushroom soup for dinner - spectacular!
Stayed one night mid-December as it's halfway between Reykjavik and Akureyri. Hotel easy to find as it's the largest building around for miles. Reception staff very friendly and we got checked in quickly as we were just about the only people staying at the hotel. Our room was quite large and very clean. Everything we needed. There was an issue with hot water in the bathroom but after enquiring we were told they were still trying to sort it after the major snowstorm they had just endured. There had been no electricity or heating until just before we turned up. This wasn't a problem for us as the weather is beyond anybody's control. We just made the best of it. Had dinner in the restaurant and it was very good. A fair choice on the menu and generous portion size. Same for breakfast - plenty of it and very good quality. Overall a very good hotel and one that we would definitely stay at again. …
Very nice and comfortable. Bed is comfortable too. Heating’s nice. Room has hair dryer. Breakfast is hearty. Though i think typical icelandic breakfast are preserved fish, cold cuts, cheese, and bread which Im not very used to. But They got cereals as an option
Hotel easy to find. Well signposted when you get there. Reception staff warm and welcoming. Rooms well appointed clean comfortable beds. Nice bathroom and toiletries provided. Buffet breakfast with good choice if cereals juice yoghurt breads fruit etc. Breakfast was better than evening meal in our experience.
