Absolutely loved our stay here! The staff is so accommodating and wants to do whatever they need to meet your requests. Rooms are very clean, well furnished and came with robes to wear while going back and forth to hot tubs.

Hotel Laugarbakki is a comfortable place to spend a night or two. Rooms are Icelandic standard with a double bed, desk, TV, WiFi, hot water pot, and bathroom. Great location for Northern Lights watching as one can just go outside the hotel and walk around for 360 degree views. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent – mushroom soup, char, chocolate cake. Breakfast at the restaurant was Icelandic standard with a cold continental breakfast + some hot porridge. One minor item is that while there are plenty of electric sockets in the room, they are not near the desk. So charging laptop, iPhone, and even using the hot water pot needs to be done elsewhere.

This was a planned stop on our tour of Iceland. The hotel is well situated with ample parking and easy to find. The reception team was most helpful and friendly. Our superior grade room was spacious and clean. It was raining when we arrived but a relax in one of the hot tubs was a good way to unwind. We ate in the hotel's restaurant in the evening and the service and food were very good. (The only drawback and NOT the hotel's fault was an unruly, loud young child rampaging about the restaurant and reception. The parents and grandmother thought it was a game and this was the only non-quiet noise level. Reception did get the parents to control the child to an extent but obviously selfish and oblivious parents, you can't legislate for stupid!) Overall this was a good stay and would happily stay here again = recommended.

Stayed here just one night with a small tour group, staff was super helpful and friendly. You can ask them to let you know if the northern lights are active and we lucked out the one night we were there. Dinner was really good, breakfast was okay, although several people were excited about the pickled herring.

Hotel Laugarbakki is situated in Miðfirði Vestur- Húnavatnssýsla half the way between Reykjavik and Akureyri and is a great hotel to stay at if you want to take time to explore different places as in Borgarfjörður, Snæfellsnes og if you are or have been exploring the westfjords. Earlier this summer I was fooloish not to have stayed there on my way from Patreksfjörður to Akureyri as the drive became too long and the hours to many in a car. Well about the hotel, it is in 2 buildings so one has to go outside and walk a short distance for dinner and breakfast and I can imagine on cold wintery days it can be a somewhat challenge for many esp those whom are elderly. The room differ in size but are lovely and comfy, there are rooms that four can share family or friends could easily share. The reason for this is that these buildings were designed as school, only around 5 years or so it was completely rebuild so to speak and made into this lovely hotel. They offer a nice menu for dinner and good selection of vines, we had diner and were extremely pleased with our 3 course meal. Breakfast is OK most would get what they need for startiga new day on the road, but what I missed was wider selection of fruits, but beig able to bake one own waffle made up for the lack of fruit. The only minus was that the showerstall had not been cleaned well enough from previous guests this I mentioned to the receptionist when I checked out and were they sad to hear this but glad to for me telling them. They offer bathrobes for their guests as they offer hot-tubs free of charge for their guests, and I can well imagine sitting in on on an cold eveving with clear skies stars above ones head and even dancing Auroras boralis in the sky,the tubs are open for use until 23pm. Over all the hotel is a wonderful haven on ones travel around Iceland I can fully recommend it.

Just off Route 1, so a very convenient place for an overnight stay. Friendly reception and pleasant bedroom. Staff were rather overwhelmed with a coachful of guests, especially at breakfast. Dinner was splendid - especially the Icelandic specialities - and we enjoyed the hot tubs on a gloomy afternoon.

The hotel really doesn't look like much from the outside, but the rooms are very nice, the pillows extremely comfortable, and the restaurant is excellent. We had one of our best meals in Iceland here. They also did our laundry for us overnight, which we hugely appreciated. Our only (very minor) complaint would be the bathroom sliding doors: while lovely, they leave a slight gap at the edge, which felt a bit awkward when rooming with friends.

Despite the very unattractive exterior, inside the hotel was pleasant. Rooms were clean. We only stayed one night but were happy enough with our visit. Breakfast was fine but lacked hot food, although the waffle maker helped. Location was good.

I was a bit disappointed in this hotel. The shower was barely a trickle and the curtain rod fell down. Staff seemed responsive and black out curtains were OK. Definitely a quiet locations and quiet hotel. Seemed to need some attention to basic maintenance..
