We booked at the Soft Adventure because we wanted self catering. Lovely setting. The rooms are tents with a veranda and we were at the end, nos 15 , so had an unobstructed view of the desert. Wildebeest roam and lots of sociable weavers ! If you are self catering come prepared since there's an open boma and braai area,... More

A stay at this lodge would be for 2 reasons; first to see the great Sossusvlei and then to just getaway to a place where peace and quite reign. We used it as a base to visit the Sossusvlei, which is situated about 130kms south of the lodge. It takes an hour to get to the gate and then another... More

This is not a 5 star resort and that is why it is more affordable than most luxurious lodges in and around Sossusvlei. This is rather a 3 star lodge aiming for 10 stars! The staff really go out of their way to assist you. Rooms were very comfortable and cool in the summer heat. We shall return but this... More

There were no signs at the road to indicate Soft Adventure Camp. The coordinates supplied were also wrong, with the result that we traveled to Solitaire to find directions. The tent is very basic and the toilet was leaking. It also looked like the sheets were not changed.

The camp is located at the edge of a mountain in the middle of the desert approximately 60 km north of Sesriem. The location is great, especially the night sky is amazing! The camp consits of two different types of accomodation: The Lodge and the Soft Adventure Camp. We stayed in the Soft Adventure Camp for two nights, because there... More

Isolated from the other camps but easy to get into and out of... to the dunes and back to civilisation. Great staff. good food. Loved the sundown drive with its foxes and other animals. Rooms were fine. views were outstanding. Great transfers etc

Everything fine, BUT.... no indication from the main road, we lost one hour and a half and 60 km to locate the plate. The lodge is in fact inside another lodge, if you do't have that indication, you are dead

Stayed for 2 nights, the rooms are good with air con. The food was good, staff helpful but the communication was poor, we missed the sunset due to their inability to organise a driver for the sundowner trip!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Namib Naukluft Lodge The best spot to experience the living desert is on our 13,000 ha farm, which was pronounced as a private nature reserve in 1999 and hosts the upmarket Namib Naukluft Lodge. Stunning sceneries invite you to nature drives and walks. Enjoy your stay in unexpected comfort and friendly hospitality. The Lodge offers a variety of activities and we recommend a stay of two to three full days. Enjoy the ever-changing pastel colours of the beautiful Pro-Namib. Use the morning hours for an easy climb to the top of one of the adjacent granite hills or a walk in the vicinity. Explore the diverse flora and fauna, where the trees grow seemingly out of the stones. Relax at the crystal clear swimming pool during the heat of the day. In the late afternoon you may join a ‘sundowner’ – drive to the natural marble mountains on the farm. Listen to the evening sound of the barking gecko – a concert never to be forgotten. The clear night sky invites you to an unreal stargazing experience. Try to spot the Milky Way and the Southern Cross! We’ll show you the oldest desert on earth. Our friendly staff will make your stay unforgettable. Welcome to Namib Naukluft Lodge – your desert dream! Namib Naukluft Lodge offers 16 tastefully furnished rooms with en-suite facilities and a private, spacious patio with a striking view. Excellent traditional meals are served in the restaurant, on the adjacent verandah or in the boma from the open fire. The lounge and pool area offer a relaxed atmosphere after an active day in the desert. The Sossusvlei ExcursionOn a daily basis, an excursion to the popular dunes at Sossusvlei is offered. The tour is conducted by an Englishspeaking driver /guide in a 4 x 4 overland vehicle. Secure your seat and book in advance. An early morning rise, with a snack before leaving, enables you to arrive at Sesriem, the Park’s gate, at around sunrise. Enjoy this unique desert scenery with some of the highest dunes in the world. The dynamic and star-shaped dunes are ideal for the keen photographer. Climb one of the over 300 m high dunes and you will be overwhelmed by the view. A full breakfast is served under shady camelthorn trees. Visit the Sesriem Canyon before returning to the Lodge for lunch. The Naukluft Hiking TrailIf you are fit and active, we offer a 2 hour hiking trail in the mountains of this 13,000 ha private nature reserve. Your hike will be accompanied by one of our nature conscious guides. However, you may also walk it by yourself. The trail is accurately laid out, a map and a radio will ensure your safety during the hike. Extend your Sossusvlei Shuttle for another day to experience the Naukluft Mountains – the other side of the desert ! ... more   less
