Just a word of caution to all who plan on staying here; an employee searched through my belongings and stole money from deep within my bag while I was out on an all day tour. Yes-it should have been locked but mistakes can happen especially in an early morning departure to the dunes (required from here since it is 60km... More

Good morning, thanking you for your review on Trip Advisor. We would like to emphasize, that we do take every complaint very seriously and follow up on it. In a case like yours, claiming that money was stolen, we did notify the police for investigation. Unfortunately it could not be determined, if the money was actually stolen from our premises.... Booked Soft Adventure Camp which is part of Naukluft Lodge so You have to look out for this sign. They claim to be working on this problem, but have not yet managed to manufacture and put up a new adequate sign.

There is no sign on the road for the soft adventure camp, only for the namib naukluft lodge, so we had to ask where it was when we were already 10 miles ahead on the road. It would be a lot easier to place the name below the sign.

The setting of this lodge is wonderful... the children loved climbing the boulders, and had it not been so chilly, they would have loved the pool. We stayed in the soft adventure camp. We found the 'tents' very chilly and noisy as the sides flapped in the wind. No hot water in the morning as its solar powered, and there... More

This is a lovely lodge in a great desert location. The view off the balcony was lovely. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The dinner is served outdoors, and the food was very good. The staff was helpful. The only problem was that it was quite a bit further from the park than I had anticipated.

Good morning, thanking you for your review on Trip Advisor. It is nice to hear, that you enjoyed your stay with us. Namib Naukluft Lodge and the Soft Adventure Camp are located on a private nature reserve called NamNau Habitat. We border the Park on both sides giving a special desert habitat to the free roaming antelopes. The entrance gate... More

Really enjoyed our stay, the staff was very helpful. You get a nice welcome drink and there's complimentary cake and tea/coffee at 3pm. The setting is stunning, and we were able to take a nice 2 hour walk around the lodge property -- we saw antelope, wildebeest, springbok and baboons in that short time. The sunset viewing spot is spectacular.... More

We booked at the Soft Adventure because we wanted self catering. Lovely setting. The rooms are tents with a veranda and we were at the end, nos 15 , so had an unobstructed view of the desert. Wildebeest roam and lots of sociable weavers ! If you are self catering come prepared since there's an open boma and braai area,... More

A stay at this lodge would be for 2 reasons; first to see the great Sossusvlei and then to just getaway to a place where peace and quite reign. This is not a 5 star resort and that is why it is more affordable than most luxurious lodges in and around Sossusvlei. This is rather a 3 star lodge aiming for 10 stars! Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Namib Naukluft Lodge The best spot to experience the living desert is on our 13,000 ha farm, which was pronounced as a private nature reserve in 1999 and hosts the upmarket Namib Naukluft Lodge. Stunning sceneries invite you to nature drives and walks. Enjoy your stay in unexpected comfort and friendly hospitality. The Lodge offers a variety of activities and we recommend a stay of two to three full days. Enjoy the ever-changing pastel colours of the beautiful Pro-Namib. Use the morning hours for an easy climb to the top of one of the adjacent granite hills or a walk in the vicinity. Explore the diverse flora and fauna, where the trees grow seemingly out of the stones. Relax at the crystal clear swimming pool during the heat of the day. In the late afternoon you may join a ‘sundowner’ – drive to the natural marble mountains on the farm. Listen to the evening sound of the barking gecko – a concert never to be forgotten. The clear night sky invites you to an unreal stargazing experience. Try to spot the Milky Way and the Southern Cross! We’ll show you the oldest desert on earth. Our friendly staff will make your stay unforgettable. Welcome to Namib Naukluft Lodge – your desert dream! Namib Naukluft Lodge offers 16 tastefully furnished rooms with en-suite facilities and a private, spacious patio with a striking view. Excellent traditional meals are served in the restaurant, on the adjacent verandah or in the boma from the open fire. The lounge and pool area offer a relaxed atmosphere after an active day in the desert. The Sossusvlei ExcursionOn a daily basis, an excursion to the popular dunes at Sossusvlei is offered. The tour is conducted by an Englishspeaking driver /guide in a 4 x 4 overland vehicle. Secure your seat and book in advance. An early morning rise, with a snack before leaving, enables you to arrive at Sesriem, the Park’s gate, at around sunrise. Enjoy this unique desert scenery with some of the highest dunes in the world. The dynamic and star-shaped dunes are ideal for the keen photographer. Climb one of the over 300 m high dunes and you will be overwhelmed by the view. A full breakfast is served under shady camelthorn trees. Visit the Sesriem Canyon before returning to the Lodge for lunch. The Naukluft Hiking TrailIf you are fit and active, we offer a 2 hour hiking trail in the mountains of this 13,000 ha private nature reserve. Your hike will be accompanied by one of our nature conscious guides. However, you may also walk it by yourself. The trail is accurately laid out, a map and a radio will ensure your safety during the hike. Extend your Sossusvlei Shuttle for another day to experience the Naukluft Mountains – the other side of the desert ! ... more   less
