We stayed 2 nights and had a fantastic trip to the dunes at Sossusvlei organised through the lodge's own staff. It was a magical stay. Staff were fantastic and always available. Food was great and they coped with our vegetarian requests. The rooms were motel style with verandas to watch the sunset over the desert.

The location is great, with nice views over desert. The staff do the job. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The swimming pool is nice after a very hot day. Bad points are regarding diner and room rates. 120€ for 2.

The lodge is beautiful and offers incredible views, particularly at night. It is a short distance from Solitaire and so is easy to access. The Soft Adventure Camp is situated on a cliff side, giving you an amazing view right outside of your chalet. The food is prepared right in front of you and is delicious! The staff are all... More

We booked this as the base for the Sossus vlei visit. Due too limited space nearby. It is a one hour drive to the gate of sossus vlei before sunrise, so one has to be carefull, zebra crosses the road !! And than still a long drive in the park. But there will be more than enough time to enjoy... More

What a superb spot in the middle of the Namib Desert. We chose this resort as our basis for trips to Sossus Vlei and Sesriem canyon. The vistas from our room into the far distance of the desert with mountains close by and far away were incredible, especially at sunrise and sunset. Twice we could observe a herd of wildebeests... location a bit far from the Sossusvlei Park gate. Outstanding dinner, very good quality of breakfast package for the dunes. Rooms are small, not to compare with other lodges in the area, but good value for money. We recommend this lodge for travellers with limited budget.

We stayed only 1 night at the Soft Adventure Camp. It's a part of the neighboring lodge though no signs indicate this. The receptionist was honestly the rudest person we met in Namibia. She was condescending and had to be basically forced to answer our questions about activities to do nearby. Our tent was fine, as was the bathroom. Most... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Namib Naukluft Lodge The best spot to experience the living desert is on our 13,000 ha farm, which was pronounced as a private nature reserve in 1999 and hosts the upmarket Namib Naukluft Lodge. Stunning sceneries invite you to nature drives and walks. Enjoy your stay in unexpected comfort and friendly hospitality. The Lodge offers a variety of activities and we recommend a stay of two to three full days. Enjoy the ever-changing pastel colours of the beautiful Pro-Namib. Use the morning hours for an easy climb to the top of one of the adjacent granite hills or a walk in the vicinity. Explore the diverse flora and fauna, where the trees grow seemingly out of the stones. Relax at the crystal clear swimming pool during the heat of the day. In the late afternoon you may join a ‘sundowner’ – drive to the natural marble mountains on the farm. Listen to the evening sound of the barking gecko – a concert never to be forgotten. The clear night sky invites you to an unreal stargazing experience. Try to spot the Milky Way and the Southern Cross! We’ll show you the oldest desert on earth. Our friendly staff will make your stay unforgettable. Welcome to Namib Naukluft Lodge – your desert dream! Namib Naukluft Lodge offers 16 tastefully furnished rooms with en-suite facilities and a private, spacious patio with a striking view. Excellent traditional meals are served in the restaurant, on the adjacent verandah or in the boma from the open fire. The lounge and pool area offer a relaxed atmosphere after an active day in the desert. The Sossusvlei ExcursionOn a daily basis, an excursion to the popular dunes at Sossusvlei is offered. The tour is conducted by an Englishspeaking driver /guide in a 4 x 4 overland vehicle. Secure your seat and book in advance. An early morning rise, with a snack before leaving, enables you to arrive at Sesriem, the Park’s gate, at around sunrise. Enjoy this unique desert scenery with some of the highest dunes in the world. The dynamic and star-shaped dunes are ideal for the keen photographer. Climb one of the over 300 m high dunes and you will be overwhelmed by the view. A full breakfast is served under shady camelthorn trees. Visit the Sesriem Canyon before returning to the Lodge for lunch. The Naukluft Hiking TrailIf you are fit and active, we offer a 2 hour hiking trail in the mountains of this 13,000 ha private nature reserve. Your hike will be accompanied by one of our nature conscious guides. However, you may also walk it by yourself. The trail is accurately laid out, a map and a radio will ensure your safety during the hike. Extend your Sossusvlei Shuttle for another day to experience the Naukluft Mountains – the other side of the desert ! ... more   less
