I just came back from a holiday from this hotel and honestly my mood it very mixed about this trip. Would I recommend other travellers to stay in this hotel? No. Was my holiday completely ruined? Also, no, but definitely wasnt the most pleasurable experience, for all the travellers we traveled together (we travelled with 9 other families and everyone was very disapointed).
Here are some of the good and bad point of this hotel.

Plus: very very lovely staff, especially Daniel and Marco, but everyone else was super helpful also, they really help this hotel and deserve a promotion they are awesome. I didnt encaunter a situation then they would be rude or not helpful, staff was the best part of this hotel.
Big pool area, very close to the sea, hotel staff can orginize a car for you and their driver can drive you to another cities for a little fee.

Coins: hotel policies are really rasist. We arrived at Saturday (9 couples from Lithuania) and also a lot of Polish tourist and we were given absolutely worst rooms you can ever imagine. Like 1 or 2 stars: some people didnt have electricity at all, bugs infested, no hot water, all dirty and old, water running from the toilet, toilet itself was all covered in you understand what and never cleaned and overoll it looked more like a room for cleaners when for travellers while there where plenty standart better rooms which was emty. On Thursday we understood why: the 30 travellers from Germany arrived and they all were given nicer rooms, first rows at the beach ( we were given the last row at the beach even know first 3 rows very completely emply), garden area to eat at the beach (we had to eat inside because it was also reserved for the german pll). The food from Saturday till Germans arrived was completely disgusting and not eatable, but after they arrived it changed completely and even the tables very decorated like its some kind of celebration. Also the animation team were at the entrance and great them in their language. I could go on about this topic, but I think the reader got the point.
Another big coin: the hotel is situated down the very big hill, so if you want to go some where and see the beaches which was advertise prepared to climb a lot or pay hotel to drive you there. Also Capo Vaticano is really a village where not a lot of things to see, I would reccomend to stay in Tropea, in Tropea you will find everything you are looking for from beautiful clear beaches, to museums and restourants.
Another unoleasant thing about the hotel - pool caps is mandstory in the pool, and I think its the only hotel with this policy. Water in the taps are salty (probably from the Sea) so you cannot drink it and have to buy bottled water. Food which is given at the breafast, lunch and dinner absolutely a night are, would not reccomend to anoyone, better dont buy the food there and buy a food in the separe restaurant in a hotel the one with a parrots cage- the food is good and not expensive there.
All in all I reccomend to choose another hotel, and maybe even think about different city like Tropea.

If you have read through the previous comments, you will find that they are all correct. All in all, the resort is quite nice, with a great pool and a wonderful beach that provides amazing sunsets. Itaka representative is always there to help. The nature surrounding the resort is amazing, and the staff is very friendly and always ready to help. We had a pleasant time during our stay at this resort. However, there were some drawbacks. It seems that the resort's golden days are long gone, as many facilities such as fountains, the info center, and the pizza oven do not work. The room we were provided with was very dated and requires refurbishment. As mentioned in previous comments, if you arrive 15-20 minutes late for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, most of the meals will be gone and you will have to settle for leftovers. This resort has some interesting rules that I have never seen in other resorts, particularly regarding the pool. Swimming hats are mandatory, and inflatable toys, balls, and other items are only allowed in the children's pool out of the three available pools. The animation team only interacts with Italians, and at the beginning of our stay, there was virtually no animation until a larger group of Italians arrived. To sum it up, I would give this resort a strong three stars.

we stayed in this village for a week. accommodation in a junior suite room
with full board. let's start from the welcome and check-in: warm welcome from the entertainment staff quick check-in only flaw transporting luggage independently with the help of the entertainment girls.
Room: double junior suite room, welcoming and clean at first glance. during the week we had to represent some critical issues that were remedied, in part, by the management.
village: cozy, functional, with beach very close to the rooms and swimming pool attached to the beach;
sea: Fairytale
swimming pool: clean, functional and not very crowded;
catering: we ate quite well, the chef was always available to us and made sure to please our kids almost always. good dishes and excellent room service from the staff; in the evening barbecue always working, really excellent desserts;
animation: engaging and above all not annoying. thanks to the guys, to diego, to Sara and to the scenography manager.
advice: the Solemare village could really offer a lot due to its strategic position on the sea and its (small) shape. I advise the management to improve the cleanliness of the rooms by monitoring the staff employed in these tasks more. it wouldn't be bad to dedicate more care to the logistics part (common areas); I would recommend including at least draft soft drinks (water included) during the day and not just at the restaurant in your full board treatment!

Good morning,
I stayed in this structure from 3/08 to today.

I wouldn’t know where to start to review such an experience.
The room with pieces of wall falling from the ceiling and mold in the walls, the bathroom with all the rusty toilets afraid of catching some disease.
The Buffet for both lunch and dinner that shames a wonderful region like Calabria where food reigns supreme.
Repetitive and very poor quality food.
All the guests complained about the same things and they kept justifying themselves with non-existent reasons. Ex: “ at this price what can you expect?” Specific : 2800€ x2 people 1 week.
We are talking about a 4-star, I do not know on what basis but this is how it is identified.

The village has great potential, it could really be a great experience, it has the beach very close to the village and very nice areas.

The animators of Nicolaus all fantastic and cute, the cleaning staff super fabulous that despite the poor condition of the rooms did everything possible.

I'm disappointed by the little attention to detail that could really make a difference, there are things where you can't pretend nothing happened, the mold in the rooms, the ants, the fouling in the toilets, the bad and sad food.
Revolutionize this structure with beautiful total maintenance.

Because if for the structure 2800€ is little money for me it is sacrifices of a year of work where I wanted to do a week done well.

I do not recommend this hotel, bad experience, with my family we stayed a week in August at this property, the family suite assigned to us was a den of ants and mold. Room dated, taps rusty and broken, the air conditioner leaked water and from there departed a streak of moisture on the ceiling, the air in the room unbreathable by the smell of mold. My daughter sat on the bed and sank, raised the mattress (soaked in moisture) the slats were broken/missing and I saw the "crop" of dirt and rust of the mattress bed base. The next day I opted to change to a superior, dated, non-working fridge, broken toilet board, but at least it didn't smell like mold. The bad food for quality, variety and quantity. Reception assistance non-existent, there is no care in anything, no contact person able to handle complaints that in a week have been many, never witnessed so much dissatisfaction on the part of customers and neglect on the part of management ... not classifiable as 4 stars! No management skills of the tourism industry! Too bad because the location is great, the sea beautiful and the animation guys willing (the only ones who do their best to make you feel on holiday) but, unfortunately, factors not enough to fill the gaps of the badly maintained and badly managed structure!

We are spending a week here where the strong point is the structure, everything is close and from the sea you can watch the children in the pool. Spectacular sea is a mirror to say the least! A marvel...you need shoes to fully enjoy it. The most beautiful sunset I've seen! The food is the standard of many villages: starter, 3 first courses and 3 second courses, external barbecue point and various vegetables and always fresh dessert. Sweet and savory breakfast, in short, nothing is missing. The mid-August dinner is outdated! Another plus point is the availability of the dining room staff, the waiters dart between the tables. Spearhead The animation Nicolaus as always polite and engaging. The sore point is the cleaning that needs to be reviewed and also the care of the greenery needs to be improved. Overall I recommend it!

Beautiful village, beautiful sea, crystal clear. Beautiful animation, good guys, smart, prepared, really great. As for cleaning we are not there at all: the towels brought us Andrea the animator, Monday is the only one in eight days in which they cleaned the room; then, it still rains inside the room despite the calls, cold water is not there, the television is not there, the furniture is to be thrown away and the hairdryer did not exist. Decent restaurant, but it's time to wash the jugs with soap and water. In general, 5 stars for the village and 0 the structure. Top animation.

We don't usually do reviews, but this place deserves it! 1 star pension breakfast, there is no variety, not even a microwave, centrifuge, or fresh fruit available (the only thing is peach in syrup, or fruit salad from the previous dinner) the food seems fragmented, if half an hour delays do not you will find craffe croissants, but only packaged biscuits or broken tarts or dry biscuits. For lunch and dinner the limited menu always alternates the same food, the side dishes are always the same, all seasoned with flies that flutter and land on the food without restraint!!! Last sore point but the one that led me to give a bad review is the practically non-existent access to the sea, wooden ladder which you have to be a real athlete, I saw it as a kidnapping forced to reach the adjacent beach which at least it has decent access! Children who looked at the sea and could not take a bath unless their mothers threw the children from the ladder! The dirty pool never saw a vacuum cleaner brush full of sand. And I'll stop here!! Terrible experience after 3 years of waiting to have a decent bath!

We decided to opt for Solemare this year even though some reviews were negative and it is clear that the average Italian thinks of spending for a three-star hotel expecting services and quality higher than what he paid. If you are poor like us, you can't take rich holidays. Otherwise, next to the Solemare there is the Talasso Resort 300 euros per. Person al. Day. Top courtesy service, from the Reception to the Restaurant, guys always kind and helpful, varied breakfast, abundant lunch and dinner buffet, some exceptional foods, others a little less so, but overall discreet. delicious desserts compliments to the pastry chef. Sufficient rooms and cleanliness perhaps to be improved, Excellent entertainment, never intrusive, but guys animated by a passion for this. Work, Diego a great village leader and all the other guys great. Strategic position of the village, on the sea, sunrise and sunset of such beauty never seen, the Sun resting on the Aeolian Islands is something wonderful. The strong point is the enchanting sea. The only flaw is the. Beach, we didn't realize that the. The beach was terraced, and here is the main problem, this is a point that you have to resolve, that ladder and those Pietroni on the other side make access very uncomfortable and above all dangerous. Too bad, work at it and you will become perfect.

The price is very low so the evaluation cannot be too severe. I wanted to give 3.5 but it does not exist.
The positive
Very nice pool with virtually nobody swimming in it. The room is reasonably comfortable and has what is needed. The sea is beautiful
The negative
Mainly the meal buffets. Not enough points of access to the buffet and if you are a bit late you stay hungry.
The WIFI is almost non existent.
The hotel is rather isolated. A shuttle service to the train station would be nice
