We are travelling around the Caribbean on a cruise ship with a day in Antigua and rented a car for a look around. 35 minutes from the port after stopping at ok beaches we drove into Carlisle Bay Resort having enquired as to a full day pass which included a 3 course lunch and

Dear renow742, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Carlisle Bay with us. Our Day Pass rate is indeed US$156 per person and does include a three course lunch, afternoon Tea, use of gym, tennis courts and all beach amenities, including non-motorised water sports. What was explained to us was that you wanted to have lunch and use the facilities; therefore, the Day pass rate was charged. If you wanted to have lunch only, you would have been charged for lunch on consumption. It is truly a shame that you and your family were not able to have a longer stay with us. Best wishes, Camilla

We stayed for two weeks in an Ocean Suite. The suite was beautifully proportioned, exceptionally clean and being on the top floor afforded beautiful sunsets over the palm trees. Most of the credit for us having such a memorable time was as a result of the staff. They are

The staff of this resort were very professional. Some were more friendly than others but one expects this. The food was good - only complaint is that there wasn't enough Caribbean food on the menu and the one restaurant that offered it was often closed and was adults only -

I am on a bed and breakfast rate How much is it to upgrade to all inclusive for adult and child please?
Local restaurants are a long ways from the Carlisle Bay. We stayed there in October with plans to go out for dinner every night and cancelled all dinner reservations off property - just too far to get to (closest ones a good 30 minutes by car). Restaurants on site were pretty good (although expensive).

How is the beach? Is the water clear and swimmable?
the beach is calm and excellent for swimming BUT don't expect blue water!! i don't know why it's green, but it's not classic caribbean water. it's much more like "central american beach" in that regards. you can take a car trip to find pale blue water a very short distance away, but not here.

Hi Pau, I stayed in a suite by the beach on the children's side. These units have a main suite in the front overlooking the beach and also a smaller room with two twin beds, a desk and its own closet, it's very comfortable. The main suite and the bathroom have very good sizes. If you email the hotel most likely the'll share the room layouts, they did that with me and was very helpful. You'll love the place!

Do people tip for the beach service, breakfast service etc?
No we didn't! It was included in our hotel bill so we add a tip at the end...

"beachfront balcony rooms offer more light, privacy and a great view"
"If you can get an ocean suite, those on the second and third floors have the best views."
"If you are in the furthest block, ask for room on the second floor. Rooms on the top floor have palm trees blocking the sea views."
