Flanked by water on both sides, Curtain Bluff sits on a rocky promontory (bluff) that juts into the sea between two beautiful beaches. One is calm, ideal for swimming and watersports; the other beach is washed by ocean surf. 72 Rooms and suites, all with staggering seascape views, are spread out along the Surf Beach and up the bluff. There are two restaurants: the open-walled Tamarind Tree serving breakfasts and candle-lit dinners, and the Beach Cafe & Bar, where barefoot-casual lunches are enjoyed one step from the sand and a few feet from the water's edge. The resort's exceptional facilities include a championship tennis center, a fully equipped watersports center (scuba, Windsurfing, paddle-boarding, waterskiing, Hobie Cats and kayaks), a squash court and fitness center. When it's time to relax, there's our tranquil spa overlooking the sea, a beachside swimming pool, a beach bar, and hammocks swaying in the shade of coconut palms. With the exception of a few above-and-beyond luxuries (Cuban cigars, vintage wines, spa treatments), everything is included in the room rate, making it one of the best values in the Caribbean.

I don’t know where to begin. When you purchase an all inclusive vacation, IMO some aspect of the vacation would have to fall short on expectations. And then I was proved wrong by the unbelievable experience we had at Curtain Bluff. The staff—amazing and bent over backwards, from day 1 to day 6 when one guest from out party locked himself in the bathroom, the entire staff never stopped hustling. Secondly, the food—I put on >5lbs thanks to the quality of delicious daily offerings. Third, the water sports staff was great with us AND OUR CHILDREN. I can’t tell you how impressed we were across the board. Hats off to both Wendy (the best) and Rob for running a great resort and we can’t thank you enough for providing our family with such a wonderful experience. Best trip we’ve ever had thanks to you all.

I would suggest not bothering in the UK to prebook a transfer to the hotel. Outside arrivals there is a well ordered system for the official taxis and one is given a chit specifying destination and cost. This is cheaper than the transfers of both a well known airline and a transfer broker. Check in at the hotel was efficient . Those at reception/concierge services were uniformly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The Hotel is located in beautiful gardens with a beach on either side. The first has water too rough for swimming but the second is beautifully calm. That latter beach, unfortunately, for most of its length, has a strip of pebbles along the water line making entry into the sea difficult for crinkles like ourselves. It probably would not provide much of an obstacle for youngsters However very close to the Sea Grape restaurant the strip runs out and there is only sand at the water's edge so that is where we planted ourselves. I can recommend beach canopies there numbered 15 and 16 which are larger than some of the others and well positioned for shade. At that end one is usefully near to well kept loos, a selection of games such as bocce (a cross between bowls and petanque) shuffleboard and table tennis, the pool and the aforesaid restaurant and bar. Beach staff were extremely capable and do tours with cold towels, water and ice lollies as well as taking drink orders setting up sunbeds and supplying beach towels. Leon in particular was assiduous at seeing we were well looked after. Standard of service at the Sea Grape itself varied. Food there ranged from acceptable to very good though the pastry chef could do with a lighter touch. At the other end of the "calm" beach are sailing boats, peddaloes and canoes for use by the guests and nearby are tennis courts The hotel consists of a number of pleasant low slung buildings. Our bedroom, which overlooked the "rough" beach, had been well maintained but was somewhat dated. Tap fittings and light switches were redolent of the '70s or '80s.Balcony furniture was mostly modern but the table had clearly undergone many coats of paint in its lifetime. On the plus side our room contained a large king bed with a comfortable mattress and soft pillows. There was a sizeable cupboard and oodles of space in a voluminous chest of drawers.A room fridge contained beer and soft drinks regularly replaced. A complimentary basket of crisps, nuts etc were provided on arrival but when consumed replacements had to be purchased from the shop.(which also sells a limited selection of postcards: postage is free) The bathroom was somewhat dingy with only one sink and a rain shower. It was more of a drizzle than a shower. Decent Molton and Brown smellies were replaced frequently Air con in the bedroom was super cooling and there was also a ceiling fan. The room safe was operated by a key rather than the usual electronic variety. Wifi is free.Mosquito spray is provided but not the electric devices which heat tablets or liquid to ward them off. In any event mosquitoes were not a problem for us when we visited. There are no TVs in the rooms. There is a TV room but because of its location near where live bands perform it is almost impossible during the evening to hear the sound from the TV because of the noise from the band/singer.There are a number of board games available in that room but with the passage of time they have become all jumbled up and incomplete though i was able to cannabalise some of the sets and obtain one which could be played. One of the public rooms has a bookcase but with few books while we were there. Live bands and singers therefore were the main evening entertainment and some of the guests used to dance to the music. They clearly enjoyed it though we felt it was overamplified. The main restaurant ,Tamarind, located in the hotel itself is light and airy with attractively set tables and linen napkins. The food as at the Sea Grape varied from acceptable to very good (though vegetables were often undercooked and virtually raw despite complaints) and the menu changed frequently. The wine list contains some amazing bottles albeit at a price. The wines served as part of the all inclusive deal were drinkable. Service was inconsistent, sometimes excellent sometimes poor. Some of the staff wandered about doing very little that we could see while we waited overlong to order. On one occasion a waiter brought our main course on a tray which he then put on a side table several yards from us. He left it to do something else, came back to the tray, apparently thought better of it and left again to wander off elsewhere for an appreciable period and only on the third attempt managed to deliver our meal. In the meantime of course our food was exposed to the birds which flew around the restaurant. On another occasion a waiter,to my mind rudely, indicated by simply pointing that he wanted me to give him the menu and wordlessly took it when I did. Overall however I would rate the hotel as being very good but it requires a little tweaking to take it up the required notch or two

Thank you for your in-depth review of your stay at CB. We do appreciate all your comments and will do our utmost to fix the issues you found in service in the restaurants. The Deluxe room, the category of room you stayed in on your stay, have been renovated over the past 7 years with new bathrooms and more recently last year with select furniture items. We are presently on a 3 year plan to renovated all of our guest rooms. This summer we are completely renovating our 2 bedroom bluff suites and the cliff suite, with all new tiles, bathrooms, furniture, artwork, etc. We hope you will come back for a repeat visit to enjoy our improvements.

Loved our stay at Curtain Bluff Resort. They guided us through customs at the airport, and then we were off to their lovely resort. Great watersports at the hotel, beautiful pool and lovely beaches - what's not to like? We were upgraded to a suite right on the beach. Everyone was very help and welcoming. I hope to go back next year and stay longer!

thank you for your review of your stay with us. Our VIP meet and greet, part of our all inclusive package really does save a lot of time in the airport. Our Signature support ladies are standing with a CB sign just after you depart from your plane, they hand to you a VIP immigration card, which gets you access to the shorter line, once you are through the ladies meet you in the luggage hall and whisk you thru customs and out to your taxi for the 30 minute drive to CB. We are pleased you enjoyed your suite on the beach and all the hotel has to offer, including the wonderful service from our staff that we are known for. Looking forward to seeing you back in the not too distant future.

My husband and I just honeymooned at Curtain Bluff in July. It was wonderful. We were upgraded to a suite which we greatly appreciated. The ambiance is lovely. The staff is utterly amazing and they make you feel very at home. The guest cocktail reception was delightful. We loved the live music every night. Would absolutely recommend the wine tasting. We read that Curtain Bluff has the best wine cellar on the island and it sure seemed that way. We highly recommend and will definitely go back.

Thank you for sharing your experiences at CB for your honeymoon trip. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the resort and all we have to offer. the cocktail party at the bluff house hosted by Chelle Hulford, the owner of CB, is usually a weekly highlight at the resort. Perched on the edge of the bluff with 180 degree views of the Caribbean sea and the setting sun it's location is idea for wedding ceremonies and sunset cocktail parties. We look forward to your return to CB.

Theres a reason why people have been returning to the same hotel for 5 decades. The service is exceptional, and anything you want, they are there to accommodate. The rooms are very tasteful, the food is first rate, and the landscaping is amazing. They have over 70 different varieties of palm tress in the resort, and you can spend hours wandering around the grounds. Highly recommended.
