All in all we had a great family holiday. We had a few problems to start. Our aircon didn’t work, so we had to move rooms for a night, so lots of faffing after being up for 24 hours. Our room wasn’t particularly clean either, which was disappointing especially as it’s been shut for so long. Our rooms were only cleaned once whilst we were there too. Lots of queues at the buffet and ridiculously long waits in the restaurants. On the second visit to the evening restaurant we just left and went to the buffet. Despite all of that we did have a fab time. I’d like to think that as they had just reopened after Covid these issues were just teething problems. They did seem short staffed. Our boys had a great time, there was loads to do and we would definitely go back and give it another go.

Situated on the far side of the Island around 30 odd minutes from the airport this lovely resort with its lovely team of people are a dream to be around. The resort had only been open a week before we arrived and we encountered a few teething issues with our room over looking a beautiful bay but Chris (General Manger) and his team soon had them sorted out. The entire resort was clean and well looked after. One thing to note - The Antigua government are still requiring the staff to serve you even though at breakfast specifically you could serve yourself, so be patient its not the resorts fault! Shout out to Nian the onsite Island trip advisor and booker, very helpful and informative. Thank you Chris and the team at the Verandah resort for making our holiday a one to remember (in a very good way) well be back (as Arnie would say :-) ) Ray&Jo

We stayed at the Verandah Resort in March 2020- right in the beginning of when coronavirus hit the US. We have been to both Beaches Turks and Caicos and also Beaches Negril. While the food is better at Beaches, overall we LOVED our time at Verandah (and it is literally half the cost of Beaches). We stayed in a Superior waterfront room with our 2 kids and loved all the space we had. The room could use some updating- new flooring, udated furniture, etc, but with so much to do at the resort we were hardly in our room. The room was clean and comfortable and the most amazing view of the ocean. The staff was friendly and warm. We loved the beaches- especially the Rasta beach since it was more private and secluded. I could have spent 100% of my time on that beach and been perfectly happy. My husband and son went fishing one day (set up thru the activities desk) and had the best time. They caught a ton of fish and really enjoyed the boat captain. We also did Sting Ray City combined with a new turtle sanctuary. It was an incredible time. As mentioned earlier, the food is average. There was a good variety, but overall is was just average. We did pay the extra $40 per person and went to Nicole's one night which was excellent. Well worth the extra money. They could definitely use more options at both beach lunch places. The resort is spread out but there is always a cart and driver available to take you wherever you want to go. We actually enjoyed walking the resort to help burn off some calories. We feel very lucky to have gone to Verandah just before the virus hit and will absolutely be back once things are back to normal. It was an excellent vacation at a great price!

My husband and I had a great time at The Verandah. (This was just before Covid.) We stayed in a cottage with a great view of the cove and one of the beaches. The room was a little dated but was clean. How much time do you spend in your room anyway. There is a lot of walking up and down hills. We knew this ahead of time. We enjoy walking. Maybe not good for everyone. You can call for a shuttle if you don't want to walk. The food and drinks were good, with lots of variety and the service was good too. Shout out to Nigel. You were always smiling. Made my day. It only rained once in the week we were there. To bad it had to happen after they had put in all the work to set up the food and Barbecues and tables with tablecloths by the pool. It was still lovely but extra work for the staff. There are 2 nice beaches and 2 pools. One pool was for adults only which was great. We played mini-golf quite a few times. The Entertainment at night was good most nights. We met lots of very nice people at The Verandah. We walked over to The Pineapple Resort next door to check it out and thought it looked pretty good too. Had a nice lunch and a few drinks there. We also walked over to Devil's Bridge which is nearby. We went on the Shelly Jay Tour of the island. It is a great way to see a lot of Antigua. The tour was about 6 hours. We lucked out that there were no cruise ships in that day so it was less busy. Marcus, our driver and guide was full of information about Antigua. We felt safe everywhere we went on the island.

We travelled here late February as a family of 4. We have two young children 5 & 3. The resort itself has beautiful scenery but it needs some money spent on it to bring it up to the standards of a 4 star hotel as it claims to be. Unfortunately my 5 year old fell ill the day after we returned from the hotel and was hospitalized with salmonella food poisoning. She was extremely poorly for over a week and given that she got sick 12 hours after we left the resort, it was obvious she got sick from there. Doctor reports to prove this. Hygiene is not a priority in this hotel. That is obvious in the ‘canteen style’ buffet area. The hotel have taken no responsibility that she got sick there even after months of trying to prove this to them. There are even other trip advisor reviews which have stated they got food poisoning on the same dates we were there. We will definitely not be going back and I would not recommend it. Beware!

Dear Valued Guest, We want to extend warm greetings from our resort family, and we thank you for letting The Verandah Resort & Spa be your destination for holiday. We are sorry to see that you did not enjoy your time with us; in addition, your comments about your daughter feeling ill come as a shock. Each of our resorts has a Health and Safety Manager dedicated to enforcing strict sanitation procedures in compliance with local/regional health regulations. When a report of illness is made, an immediate and thorough investigation is carried out. To date, We've received no anomalies with food products or water have been found. However, our team will continue to monitor all areas vigorously. As a team, we strive to provide nothing less than a first-class experience to all of our wonderful guests. And, we always encourage guests to speak with our resort team should they come across something that does not seem to meet standards, as the resort team would be more than happy to address anything brought to their attention. We are truly sorry if your experience with us was not of your liking, and we do hope that you allow us the opportunity to host you again in the future at any one of our Resorts for a vacation that is more in line with your expectations. Best Regards, The Verandah Resort & Spa, Antigua Staff & Management
