A lot of fluff , but not much substance, the marketing team does a great job of creating an impression of what to expect, but a bit of a let down when you arrive. You know Instagram vs. Reality... Upon arrival was advised to catch lunch before 2pm and they were trying to upgrade our cottage. Jeannine upgraded us to a slightly better cottage. View was great , but not very private. We had to hang towels on our deck railing , as did the neighbors since we could clearly see each others deck 15 feet away. We filled out the web checkin form provided a few days before our arrival and completed the room preferences but NONE of our requests were provided. Asked for vodka and Scotch in room. Neither in room. Chocolates for our anniversary in room was not delivered ether. Not sure why they asked us to fill it out when they totally ignored them. Advised the bellhop upon being shown to our room the requested bottles were missing, said he would look into it and never got back to us. After checkin asked front desk if they could provide the 2 bottles requested in room, but it never arrived. Asked Janine and other front desk employees at least 2 more times for them, during our stay , but never arrived. Janine called the room on the 4th day and said they do not have scotch at the resort and do we want something else. We only had one more day on the resort so we declined , but they still never brought the vodka ! No scotch in a 4 star hotel. That is unacceptable. Sheer Rocks their sister restaurant had scotch on premises, why not get a bottle from them if you really wanted to please your customer? Seemed to be a pattern at this resort. You ask for something , they take your request but it never arrives and they do not even come back to you to tell you there is an issue, they just sort of ignore your or try to avoid you so they don't have to confront you that they cannot help you. Something as simple as can I have butter for our bread , would never arrive and person would not get back to you, just sort of avoid you for the rest of the evening. The resort had a constant issue with supplying towels. Beach towels were most days not available or available only after 4 pm. Even room towels were not available until after 4pm. Front desk apologized there were no towels and they would deliver them to us when they were available but guess what they never arrived. This was a frequent issues, promised the moon but request almost never honored. If they couldn't fulfill your request, It was weird, the person would then ignored you as if you didn't exist instead of coming back and saying there was an issue etc. At least they had stoli for vodka, but drinks were very limited. Tip : Ask for a double and bring a Yeti for refills. Didn't have cranberry juice at least one day, only had pomegranate, only had one fresh juice choice a day. Fresh smoothies from Coffee shop were very good. No bottled water on premises. I got very sick from the tap water, stomach issues made the trip very uncomfortable, had to beg for bottled water. Lisa and Marlin 2 bartenders were awesome and on point. They went out of the way to make sure you received what you wanted and took care in making sure they gave you a drink you asked for and was made correctly. Met O'neal Richards the resort manager on a few occasions, he was awesome, took care to make sure we got an answer to our question at the front desk. Always gave you a friendly hello and asked how your stay was going and if he could do anything to make it better. A true class act. Food was average at best, not a lot of choices, Breakfast same everyday except one rotating special. Lunch about the same each day. Dinner changed but half the menu stayed the same each day. Don't get the fried grouper, that was totally uneditable, neither one of us ate it. So tough we had to use a knife, just terrible. We were able to order the upgraded entree due to our room type but it really didn't matter, they were not any better than regular menu. Mr. Gore at Rafter's restaruant was a highlight of the staff. Remembered your name, made you feel special, honored every request and went above and beyond to make sure you were pleased. He definitely stands out as one of the Rock Stars of this resort, together with Marlin and Lisa. Don't overpack. Very casual young crowd. Flip flops and shorts and Simple dress all you need with a collared shirt for men for dinner. Pool towel game is played here. Can't find an open chair in afternoon at the pool without towels on it. Need a beach attendant to clean them up occasionally. We did the spa for massages, they were average at best. The massage room at 830am was uncomfortably warm and not a very pleasant experience. Beach attendant on beach useless. On the beach had to get your own chairs and the attendant would come by for drinks every few hours. Saw him once a day at best to take drink orders. Should clean the chairs up after a couple leaves to make them look more appealing. Little fryes beach not very nice. Sea Grass and rocks. I get it , it is a public beach but Cocos and Keyonna clean their beaches to make them more appealing to guests. We went on a Sunday and there was probably 50-100 locals blocking the entrance to the resort at a beach party. Made it very uncomfortable to walk thru the crowd to get to resort. Valley church beach much better and private, but an 8 minute walk down a dirt road to get there. Was a little sketchy walk but if you pay attention it was fine. Avg age is probably 30-40. We were 55 and felt a little older than most, but not uncomfortable. Totally did not get the floating breakfast or sushi in your pool or private pool, but hey we are old. Definitely not a handicap accessible resort, lots of stairs and paths not very well lit at night. Would never pass US ADA laws. Found a young girl one evening lying on the sidewalk who tripped and cut her leg and husband was trying to assist her. We have been to Antigua numerous times, Sandals, Keyonna, Cocos and now Cocobay. Keyonna although a little more money much better if you can afford it. A much higher class resort. …
