The Shells Resort and Spa Phu Quoc, often praised for its spacious and tranquil ambiance, offers guests a blend of seclusion and convenient access to town. While travelers regularly enjoy the expansive rooms with stunning views, some have called out issues with room upkeep and service inconsistencies. The resort's setting and privacy earn positive remarks, but there are suggestions for improved maintenance and brighter walkways to enhance the atmosphere.
Service quality receives mixed feedback, with reports of both friendliness and inefficiencies. Opinions on value and cleanliness also vary, with both commendations for affordability and criticisms regarding occasional overpricing and housekeeping irregularities.

Detailed Reviews
We have stayed at the resort for 5 nights. Unfortunately, staff was not attentive and in some cases rude. They do not speak English well and it was impossible to communicate. We had difficulties ordering food at the resort restaurant that's not to mention room service. We had requested an iron and after 5 days asking the reception staff we still were unable to get it. The beach was very dirty with plastic bags, bottles and other rubbish floating in the water. The water was muddy and unclean. Althouh it claims to be a 5 star resort, this is not tge case. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this place.

Dear JenyaN5, On behalf of the staffs and management of The Shells Resort & Spa, I would like to say thank you very much for choosing The Shells Resort as a destination in Phu Quoc island. Our location is perfect for anybody looking to have a peaceful and relaxing getaway. Guests can choose to dip in our two grand pools, dive in the ocean through our private beach access, join in any of our activities such as kayak, refreshing cocktail or take part in a romantic dinner at Flow Restaurant. About beach, that is one of the big thing in some countries include Viet Nam. Usually, our beach operations team cleaning as an activities per day, some times out of control because of the windy bring waste into, as you may know Phu Quoc is a developing & young island in hospitality industry, that mean a lots of things must be done to be good. that is a general problem to all hoteliers and government managers like a difficult, need a hand of people living on this island include people of neighboring countries. We recently had a 3 day stay here and trust me when I say this.... This establishment is amazing!
So coming to the details
1. The check-in was smooth and quick. We had booked the Premium Deluxe Ocean View room and it was worth every single dime we paid for!
2. We were dropped to our rooms in the cart which is also uses to ferry people to and fro from various points in the resort
3. The room was clean and nicely done, and the view from the room was breath taking
4. They have their own private beach which is very clean. Lots of lounge chair to bathe in the sun. They have kayaks too, both for solo kayakers and for a group of two, to explore the sea
5. Chilling by the pool and taking a dip in the pool to escape from the heat was our other favorite past time here.
6. In the evening they have a free cocktail hour.
It is accompanied by live music and the ambience is amazing.
7. They have a wide range of food choice and each dish was equally lip smacking good
8. The staff was very courteous and helpful thoruout our stay. We had to leave quite early in the morning to catch our flight and they had our breakfast packed and ready to go with us, without even asking for it!
All in all, it was a beautiful experience staying at this place and is surely worth the try

Have just returned from a lovely holiday here. I was extremely happy with the location , beautiful well kept grounds and although a small but adequate beach with plenty of sun beds at anytime of the day . This hotel was off the beaten track so taxis and scooters essential , but main town only 15 mins and also left out of the resort is ole Lang which had some good reasonably priced restarants which is even nearer . Taxis are very cheap . The rooms are spacious we had an ocean view in main building , but the villas looked just as nice . We did have to pay extra to upgrade tho . The only issues I had were that this hotel lacked atmosphere , the bonus was free cocktail hour Tues to Sunday 18.15 pm to 19.00 but after the 2 nd day all the chairs were removed , and the stage for the band moved in front of the restaurant , so if you weren’t eating there wasn’t anywhere to sit , people were scattered about on sun beds and sat on walls , not great for a 5 star hotel . The lounge bar and swim up bar were closed for the full 12 days I was there . Communication is also difficult very little English understood by some staff , and also the food and drink is overpriced compared to everywhere else , all this does not encourage guests to stay in the hotel , hence lack of atmosphere . I had a lovely stay but to be honest compared to accommodation I have stayed in across Asia this was below par for me . I think if they are to continue to encourage European guests that have to look at the service they offer . Probably will not go back

Our location is perfect for anybody looking to have a peaceful and relaxing getaway. Guests can choose to dip in our two grand pools, dive in the ocean through our private beach access, join in any of our activities such as kayak, or take part in a romantic dinner at Flow Restaurant. AS you may know, Phu Quoc is a young island, that mean a lot of things must be done to be good, English communication of all employees in this island is one of that, that is a general problem to all hotels and government managers on this island are difficulties, About the restaurant, Currently Phu Quoc Island is seriously affected by Corona virus disease. That is why resorts have to narrow their businesses, and we are required to do so to maintain a long-term stability for the company. We understand that closing the Beach bar or the Spa will make customers feel down, but because this is problems of the world concern. We hope customers' understanding during this time. We shall try our best to provide more hospitality training for staffs. when you return to this island we hope you will give us a chance to serve you to feel our changes . Thank you again for your staying at The Shells Resort & Spa I look forward to having you back soon. Best regard, The management Team

Located on beautiful and quiet beach. They have two pools, a restaurant/bar and massages on site. Nice clean large rooms and nice grounds.
The staff at this hotel are so friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable.
When booking a room just be aware the garden rooms are about a 5 min walk from the beach.

Because we had some not so positive experiences on the island regarding hotels we were so happy to find this one!
From the moment you get to the hotel, the garden, the little bungalows and the lush green around you feel like this is truly a high quality place.
The checkin was smooth and very friendly, all spoke really good english. We first got a bungalow on its own, with separate garden, very beautiful and quiet, but we asked a room closer to the beach and had to pay barely a small amount for the upgrade.
The new room was super large and as stylish and beautifully decorated as the previous one, but had an incredible view to the sea and the inner gardens and pool.
Cleanliness is perfect all over the place, from spa to restaurant, everywhere.
Amenities are top notch and breakfast was really good. We had more food to choose from than an all-inclusive hotel I would say.
The spa section is small, but has really good services and amenities. I tried their steam room and sauna. The only downside is that the spa staff does not speak barely any english and they would not help me with the sauna, as it would not heat up... then the steam room door had a fault so the door slams very easily and broke my fingers backwards... the receptionist had no idea about first aid in this situation, she brought me ONE cube of ice.....no, it didn't help.
Overall we were very happy to find this hotel and surely will return if we go to Phu Quoc island. I recommend them very much.

Will not come again.
A beautiful place with several problems that should be taken under consideration. On the pickup from the airport the driver waisted our time by filling up the car with gas and he also tried to do some arrangements on the way, until we said that is enough and we want to go to the hotel. The ride took us twice the time it should have taken.
The rooms next to the beach are lovely, but there are many flies and ants all around (mostly dead due to pest control), I recommend putting a towel beneath the door at night.
The room can be a bit more clean in the air vents of the AC.
Breakfast is great and you have many options.
The water pressure in the shower and bath tub should be better.
The rooms are big and with a nice design, great balcony, very relaxing.
Not sure if this is optimal value for money due to the several above-mentioned issues, but it is ok.
So far, we did not receive any compensation for the trouble we had. Poor management.
For some reason, after they took a copy of our passports, we were asked to leave one passport at the reception as a deposit. That is an unusual request, we declined it, and they said it's ok. I wonder if this is a normal practice here, smells fishy.

In terms of the driver stopping the car to add fuel is necessary, The shuttle will not run without enough fuel. We look forward to your understanding. Regarding passport issue, hotel regulations require customers to check in to leave a passport as we need it to report to the local police. Because this is a tourist island, security and safety issues are always concerned by the local police. We are looking forward to receiving the sympathy from the customers. We wish you all the bests and hope to welcome you again in the near future. Best Regard The management.

We stayed in this place for 5 nights. If you want to stay close to other travel spots you better go to different place as The Shells located minimum 15 min by taxi to anywhere. Btw, taxi is very cheap and drivers do not speak English.
Villa (where we stayed) was large, with nice decor and very clean.
Breakfast was pretty good with combination of Western & Asian food.
The food in the restaurant in general was good, but too simple and overpriced (we had lunch and dinner there a couple of times).
The resort comprises a private beach and 2 swimming pools, both have a bar. Both bars were closed over our stay, no music during the day. I do understand that due to lack of people, the resort had to reduce staff, but if you position yourself as 5 star hotel, this is not acceptable. At night, there were very good live music by band including 2 Vietnamese girls signing international songs
Most of the resort's staff including waitresses do not speak simple english.
Overall, it was a good stay, but there were some things which we would expect from 5 start hotel do not exist there.

I stayed at the shells for 2 nights. I stayed at a deluxe room and it really lived up to the pictures. It’s really stunning and you have the view over the pool and the beach.
There was not enough hot water to fill the bathtub which is really an irritating aspect when you chose a room like this.
I felt like the resort needed atmosphere. I changed to another resort, as planned, and I already felt more welcome there even though it was a 3*.
The staff is nice, but there is no extra and you don’t feel welcome in the way you should. It is also far away from everything so you need to stay at the resort or take a taxi.

The hotel itself is very good, rooms are spacious and comfortable, there is a terrace at the room. There are two big swimming pools in the hotel, the water in them is clean. The restaurant is very good, the food is perfect. But the staff isn’t very experienced. They forgot to clean the ashtray every time, they didn’t put tea and coffee to the room and once in the morning I was waken by the gardener who was watering the window of my room at about 7:30 a.m. So it was horrible, at first I couldn’t understand what was going on. There are problems with facilities around the hotel, there is nowhere to go, there are no shops nearby. The water in the sea is with seaweeds.

We very disappointed to hear and apologize that we have not met your expectations during your stay as it is certainly our wish to ensure that all our guests enjoy their stay and your feedback is sincerely appreciated. We will take immediate steps to follow up on all those points you have raised. In particular, We was concerned to read your comments on our staff as in the past they generally have received praise for the level of customer service and for being friendly and flexible and always accommodating to guests requests. Our team do normally take great pride and do their utmost to ensure our guests are well looked after and I will be following up on those matters you have raised. The villa is very spacious. It is up to you if it is good or bad, that the hotel is 5km from the city and the shops you have to take a taxi everywhere. It means it's discreet and silent that we appreciate. Thank you again for your comments. I hope that your recent experience did not impede your trust in us and that we may have the chance to regain your confidence during a future visit. Yours Sincerely, The Management Team, Xóa phản hồi

We went to the island of Phu Quoc on our honeymoon. The resort was beautiful and clean, the staff were nice, the breakfast was great, the prices for meals were higher than if you left the resort. The location was removed from the town so you would need a motor bike to get around. They offered a rental for 100,000 for a half day and our bike stopped working about half way throughout our trip so they delivered another one. Our room was nice and big, but we had a bunch of ants crawling around the bathroom and through the cracking caulking. You’re surrounded by lush greenery, it makes sense to have some bugs join us. In the evening, we would watch some tv before bed but had problems with the eHotel service box (unplug it to get it to work again). On our way to breakfast one morning, it had finished raining and water pooled near the staircase. The floors were extra slippery when wet and our feet came out from under us. The staff came by and cleaned it right after.
Minor issues overall but it was a good place to lay our heads for the evening and we felt safe and comfortable during our time there.

No too many. A few by walking 15 minites
Yes they will hire scooters. They do have wines but there is a good Wine Store in town, Duong Dong, at the roundabout that sell all types of wines including imported Australian wines.
