Our guide (who has since left the amp) was an exceptionally good tracker. The physical facilities are superb. The food was pretty good, but was not the best of the camps we visited, and the staff could have been better at providing vegan food options (they new of this requirement in advance). Everyone was quite pleasant. I highly recommend.

We spent 5 days at Duma Tau Camp and requested our favorite safari guide Goodman to guide us. We originally met him in 2009 when we stayed at Savuti camp. He and the entire staff at Duma Tau made our stay memorable and so much fun! We traveled with our married daughter and her husband - their second time with... More

Dear ergowoman, First of all, we would like to thank you for being such a loyal supporter of Wilderness Safaris - trip number 6 with a 7th one planned! Knowing that DumaTau met, if not exceeded, expectations in all aspects - from the hosting in camp and location on the lagoon, to the photographic opportunities and variety of activities on... More

Our family spent three nights at Duma Tau in late July, and our stay completely exceeded all expectations. The tents were very well appointed and had a very "safari chic" feel to them. The whole camp was reconstructed in a new location just down the way from the old location only a couple of years ago, so the whole camp... More

My wife and I spent three nights at Duma Tau. I had been there before and rated it then my best safari experience ever - this one was even better. The wildlife sightings were unreal - including three lionesses facing off against a herd of water buffalo, a pack of wild dogs feasting on a zebra, and hippos repeatedly and... More

We have recently returned from spending three spectacular nights at Duma Tau. This is a classic safari camp run by the excellent Wilderness Safaris. It is located in the Linyanti, northern Botswana, at the intersection of two elephant corridors. We had an incredible guide, Rogers, who was with us for our entire stay. We were privileged to see such sights:... More

Lions lions and more lions. Watched and listened to 11 lions eating a freshly killed wart hog. Saw 2 leopards up a tree with their kill. Walked in the bush with our guide Godfrey who was armed so we felt safe. Enjoyed an amazing boat ride while having lunch and watching the elephants and hippos in the water. Johann is... More

This was the first camp of out three Wilderness safari camps. It set our expectations high and they were met each time! Duma Tau means lion roar and that is a perfect name! We saw more lions here than in our other camps - a pride of 14 on the prowl! I love how our guides, Ona and Go were... More

The location of this lodge, the second on our trip run by Wilderness Safaris, but the first we visited in Botswana, could hardly be bettered. It is set right upon the river and every room enjoys an unobstructed view: hippos and elephants can be seen throughout the day and often enter the camp itself. This calls for some caution in... Lovely camp, expertly run (the managers had just arrived, Johan and Analie and were great!) in a wonderful area. People are great, location is great and the individual ‘tents’ are more than great. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perhaps the best game viewing in far northern Botswana - from its newest and most stylish camp. DumaTau means "roar of the lion," but the elephant reigns here. The camp is set on a lagoon on the Linyanti River between two "elephant highways," affording unparalleled viewing of these iconic mammals, along with other wildlife. Together with sweeping, dramatic views of the river, the architecture of the camp expresses the explorer aesthetic, as well as the idea of space. There is an airy dining and lounge area, and a pool, all taking advantage of the superb view of the lagoon. Highlights DumaTau is located close to the source of the Savute Channel, with access to the Linyanti Swamps, floodplains and extensive mopane woodlands, thus offering an excellent combination of land and river. During winter, large elephant herds traverse the area. Chances of viewing leopard, lion and wild dog are excellent, along with other large mammals like hippo, red lechwe, giraffe, waterbuck, kudu, impala and occasional buffalo. 10 Tents (including 2 Family Tents): Rebuilt 2012; en-suite; spacious; raised off the ground; clear-storey window; 100% solar powered Experiences: Day and night game drives • Nature walks (on request) • Boating and barge (seasonal) • Game viewing hides • Catch-and-release fishing (seasonal) ... more   less
