Shabby chic minus the chic. We had no idea when we booked almost 12 months ago, that it was due a refurb. We paid top dollar via British Airways. This is at best a 3 star hotel in my view. Whilst the individual staff members were friendly and courteous, they were totally demotivated and this was actually acknowledged to us by a Marriott employee who is overseeing the upcoming renovations. I have many photos showing filthy walls, tables, floors etc. In the breakfast buffet area, was an old, disgustingly dirty cooker of some description with croissants and cereals laid out either side of it. Flys everywhere in the restaurant. We had a “luxury swim up room”. On arrival I had to request the patio be cleaned and the parasol changed. There were hair grips and bits of food wrappings on the patio, stains on the cushions, and the parasol literally disintegrated. The receptionist was very apologetic and changes were made. We felt completely ripped off with the price we paid and we will definitely be taking it up with both Marriott and BA. Had we not have been with family members we would have checked out and found alternative accommodation. We didn’t however let it spoil our holiday on this amazing island.…

First up, this has to be one of the best locations on the Island, in fact the beach in my opinion is far far better than Sandy Lane. Also, the proximity to Holetown is perfect. Both this hotel & Coco Reef are absolutely spot on where you want to be located. As previous TA reports have said, parts of this hotel are a little tired, however the revamp is due in April & I'm sure once done it will be amazing, then again the room rates will probably be increased way beyond what they are now. The staff here are incredible (with exception of one barman, not sure why he works in the hospitality sector, obviously hates it). Pretty much like the theme of Barbados, full of wonderful people who are some of the friendliest & kind people you'd ever want to meet, a truly wonderful island. I really hope the Marriot Group treat the staff with the respect they deserve rather than leaving them in limbo in regard to the renovation, they certainly deserve it. Although i 100% would revisit, only time will tell if that’s a possibility given the changes that are being made .…

Lovely hotel in fabulous location. The rooms are a bit colonial but well appointed, the lagoon swimming pools are wonderful. Plenty of sun loungers around pools and the beach! The staff are on the whole really lovely and helpful. The water sports guys are brilliant and very accommodating as are the beach/pool attendants. Wonderful hotel, can’t wait to return!

Beautiful location. Warm & friendly staff. However the guests who run out at the crack of dawn to “reserve” beach chairs that they don’t occupy until late morning are extremely inconsiderate. There should be a 1 hr maximum for empty chairs and then they are cleared. It’s so annoying and happens all over the world.

We stayed for 10 nights having last visited this hotel about 7 years ago. It has now been taken over by Marriott and is due to be refurbished. Excellent location on the west coast and walking distance into Holetown either on beach on footpath. The service was first class and the food excellent. Dining on front overlooking the sea was amazing and the entertainment was very good. Surrounded by excellent restaurants and golf courses leaves you plenty to do. There is also a good gym on site. It’s a nice hotel and the staff were great but it’s showing its age. Some areas are in need of some tlc and our room had some issues. Other hotels that used to be in the Elegant chain, now owned by Marriott, are being refurbished and this one will need doing to. The beach is perfect and we even saw some baby turtles hatch while we were there, which was a real treat. So, I’d rate this hotel as good but certainly not up to the rate being charged. The drinks are expensive, twice what you pay outside the hotel, but that’s normal. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes, but definitely room for improvement.

There are some poor reviews on Tripadvisor for this hotel, however we found this hotel to be nothing but spectacular. Everything from the staff to the hotel, from the room to the amenities were fantastic. This maybe a 3* hotel on paper, however the staff provide you with the 5* experience comparable to a 5* JW Marriott. This is the only other Marriott that I have rated 5* (with the other being JW Marriott, Juhu, Mumbai). As always let’s break this down. Staff: 5/5 - You’re greeted with a smile. All the staff around the hotel are welcoming, warm, friendly and will go above and beyond for you. - To name a few you have Monique, Kristyn, Janiel and Jillian. These ladies will welcome you and ensure that your needs are met. From recommendations to bookings. - Nigel and Chucky will help you get anywhere you need with all the hotel taxi’s on hand. - You have Sandy as well as all the other staff to ensure your stay is amazing. Every member of the team here will make sure your stay is great. - We also get to meet the GM (Hein - apologies if I have misspelt your name) who told us of the history and the upcoming renovations. - The chaps at the boat shed on the beach where you can book water sports. These gents will take great care of you. Hotel & rooms: 5/5 - there was nothing to complain about. - The rooms are slightly dated BUT they have the local bajan charm. Water pressure was great and the beds were comfy. - Our room was a luxury sea view room and please note the hotel is in a U shape. Do not expect to be beach front. BUT it was still beautiful and we COULD see and hear the ocean whilst lying in bed. - The reception area is stunning. Nice areas to relax and they also have a private rum tasting in their vault. - Swim up bar and main pool were nice and manned friendly staff. Food: 5/5 (breakfast only) - breakfast was fantastic. A great range of breakfast foods from freshly made omelettes to egg Benedict. Fried fish to bacon & eggs. - There are a lot of birds so ensure someone keeps watch over your food otherwise it’ll be gone! It adds to the Bajan charm of this hotel. - Dinner or lunch : we ate out each afternoon and evening. - Cocktails were great!! Beach: - the beach is stunning and clean. Super soft sand leading to a turquoise ocean. - The ocean is beautifully warm and clear. - They have water sports that are inclusive of your stay and the gents that run the boat shed for water activities are all great. Make sure you try the water skiing, wake boarding, snorkelling etc. Overall I loved staying here. The staff and hotel amenities were great. Expect more than a 3* hotel and service when you go here.…

My husband and I stayed at this resort for a week at the end of August into September. Weather was great and we only had 1 day of rain and storms. Resort is definitely in need of some repairs and updating but this did not detract in any way from our stay. The room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was literally like sleeping on a cloud and the a/c was awesome! The shower area is a bit awkward if you’re short (5ft tall) like me as you had to step down into the tub to use the rain head shower but it was worth it. I do hope that’s one thing that gets changed as it was tricky to get in and out of the tub/shower combo. The staff are AMAZING and so friendly and welcoming. Chernell, Rosemary, Monica, Heather and Sandy were rays of sunshine when dining. Tyrone at the bar is very kind, intelligent and has a positive and infectious outlook on life. I would like to “put him in my pocket” and keep his words of wisdom close. He has a calm spirit we should all try to live by and be thankful for all we have. The food is all ordered off a menu with the exception of the breakfast buffet. I tend to eat the same thing every day so it wasn’t a problem for me as I had fruit and yogurt options as well as an occasional pastry. My husband had a made-to-order omelet most days and thoroughly enjoyed his meal. We were on an all-inclusive plan as we were originally booked for a sister property so we are our dinners at the resort as well. The steak was fantastic and they happily obliged to switch up my sides for the entree. The beach is small but there are enough chaise lounges. Water is beautiful and fairly calm. I know this resort is going to close in the Spring for renovations and we hope to travel back.…

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful week at the Colony Club Barbados. The exterior of this property is weathered and in need of renovation. But folks, first impressions can be deceiving. The room was beautiful. The bedding was soft and plush. Everything was immaculate. The air conditioning was the best we have experienced during our many beach vacations. The included breakfast was great. Our stay was all inclusive, so we ate most meals there. The service is fantastic. A special thanks goes out to Rosemary, Sandy, Chernell, Heather and Monica. Each made our stay more enjoyable with their pleasant personalities and many smiles. The food was great, especially the beef. A special thanks also goes to our friend Tyrone, who works hard at the bar. Tyrone and I have many similar beliefs. We had many conversations about life in general. Tyrone is truly an asset to the Colony Club. Sidney and Dave also did a great job at the bar. The beach is nice, but once in the water, it can be a little rocky. There is a very quiet, relaxing vibe at the beach. My wife and I had a very nice stay and would consider returning. The resort is scheduled to close sometime in April of 2024 for renovations. However, any trip to Colony Club is worthy of consideration, if for no other reason than to enjoy the friendly, hardworking staff. Management should be proud.…

Myself and my wife stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary and what a wonderful experience we had at this beautiful resort. We had an ocean view room that was lovely, the beach is great here . The setting is just fantastic day and night . The staff are so friendly and always have a big smile , have to give a big shout out to the wonderful Monique at reception a genuinely nice person , Shecwin the man that welcomes and helps you at the entrance. I could name many more but didn't catch their names . The food is really good along woth the standard of drinks , the whole area is kept very clean and by far the best of the Marriott chain of hotels . Don't hesitate to book here . The only thing i would say it's hardly worth getting the water taxi to the other elegant / Marriott hotels as they're all inclusive and with colony being bed and breakfast/half board , it is to much hassle trying to buy a drink as when we ventured out to Crystal cove we couldn't buy a drink at the bar . …
