Really stunning. We were treated superbly anyway but also in recognition of our anniversary. The service the ambiance and friendliness all excellent. in the evening he food choice was not brilliant but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The breakfast was very good.
We stayed foe 3 weeks. The junior suite was beautifully presented and had everything you might need. Little things like ceiling fans with two remotes to operate. The kitchen area was the best we have had. Good sized fridge and freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and electric kettle. The staff were just lovely.
Very nice hotel with beach directly in front. We stayed on a room only basis but had breakfast and most evening meals at the Calabash Bistro. Meals were a tad expensive but this seemed par for course everywhere on the island including supermarkets. The hotel has nicely kept grounds and the Gap is walkable in daylight by crossing the beach in front of Sandals next door. Beds were very comfortable. Most staff were customer focused and special thanks to Lisbeth, Dwayne and Donald in the Calabash for greeting us with a smile together with Kimberley and Natasha on Reception.
Loved that Bougainvillea was a small resort giving us easy access to the pools, beach and restaurant. ALL the staff were friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. The owners should be heaping praise and raises on all the staff - well deserved. Appreciated the kitchenette to prepare light meals and make our own coffee in the morning. Lots of grocery stores and convenience stores nearby. Staff on the beach were fantastic in setting up umbrella's, giving tips on what we could do at the resort and other places. Surprised by having live entertainment so often. We didn't expect that at all! All the musicians were talented and really loved sitting out on our terrace being able to enjoy it so casually. Calabash was great - food was really good. Also appreciated eating just outside under the trees at the table - more casual. And ordering take-out was super easy. We like to explore so didn't mind walking to nearby places i.e. Oistins (20 minutes), but via taxi everything is closeby. Hotel arranged for all our taxis, but also was easy to make connections on our own. …
Really surprised to see a recent review on this hotel as didn’t match our experience All the staff were really friendly, the cleaners and maintenance staff always met you with a smile and an hello. The trainee on reception was lovely and so willing to help and special mention to Lisbeth in the restaurant - don’t think I’ve ever met a more happier front of house person - who doesn’t like a bit of dancing first thing in the morning 😂 We were Bed & Breakfast and was always a great choice, local and European . A couple of times we had lunch at the hotel and again it was very good The location is a 10 minute walk along the beach to St Lawrence Gap. The Main downside is at night you are (rightly so) advised not to walk back on the beach and you need to take a taxi - it costs about £10 so not a major issue but a bit inconvenient and not as nice a stroll back after a night out Plenty of sun beds on the beach and around the pool, albeit the inevitable 6am gang laying down their towels for the best spots ! Associated restaurant - Deia was very good and lovely place to eat looking over the sea . Other than that you need to go down to the Gap if you want to eat and drink outside the hotel Only area I’d suggest for improvement is umbrellas around the sun beds in the pool area. Other than the last day there were no umbrellas other than around the tables, so unless you are really happy laying without any shade it meant you couldn’t really use the pool area Overall a lovely well kept hotel with lovely staff…
The hotel has a great location and excellent structure. The good things end here. All employees seem dissatisfied with their work, are rude and in a bad mood. There are no smiles. The breakfast is very bad, as well as the food from the restaurant and the drinks from the pool.
Pluses: - Upgraded to a sizeable junior suite, with kitchen facilities - Nice pool and sandy beach with comfortable chairs and umbrellas - Charming hostess, Elsbeth, in the Calabash restaurant - Uncle George's Fish Net Grill nearby worth a visit - Convenient for airport Minuses: - Not much to do and see within 15 minutes by car of the hotel, and traffic heavy most of the time - Didn't feel very welcomed by some of the staff - Expensive! We would choose to stay on the west side of the island for a future visit. Tip - try to visit Hunte's Botanical Garden in the north of the island - spectacular!
We stayed at The Bougainvilla resort for a week between Christmas and New Years. It’s a beautiful resort nice and clean with friendly staff. Jose is a great barman and makes a delicious Pina Colada. Our children 7 and 2 attended the kids club one day they had a good time it’s good for the odd day but they remain in one games room they don’t get to enjoy much of their holiday outside. The rates for the kids club are very reasonable. The beach was great spent more time here than the pool as the kids pool does get as much sun light so gets cold early on in the afternoon if it’s not a very hot day. Two improvements the hotel can make is towels beach towels were always unavailable no matter what time of day I asked they always ran out and it was an hour or so wait. Knowing it’s a busy period they should have more towels to accommodate all guests. Whilst the hotel food is nice it is not Caribbean food which is disappointing they overly accommodate American guests with burgers and pastas and don’t introduce the tourists to local cuisine. This was my biggest disappointment with the hotel. Besides this we had a great trip …
My wife, 10 month old baby girl and I spent 2 weeks at Bougainvillea in February 2023 and had an amazing time! We stayed in a 1 bedroom deluxe suite which was very clean and well equipped, which was perfect for us to bring some food for baby for early mornings or late nights when we couldn’t eat out. The staff at Bougainvillea were all very friendly and accommodating. Although there were a number of staff who were great, we’d really like to mention Gregory and Roxanne. They both went above and beyond for our family multiple times and I couldn’t be happier. This was our 4th trip to Barbados but the first time staying at Bougainvillea. Even though the other places we’ve stayed at were good, they weren’t as good and didn’t have the same charm that Bougainvillea had.
Fantastic, loved this hotel, beautiful apartment, really was excellent and very very clean, friendly & helpful staff, great restaurant & shop, only 10-15 minutes from the airport. I would recommend highly.
