We are located on the South Coast of Barbados in an ocean front setting with access to two white-sand beaches, and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Refurbished in June 2021, we are an excellent hotel for those looking for a self-catering but full-service property near to all the amenities the island has to offer...

Well this was our 11th visit to Barbados but 1st to Butterfly Beach, so my review is honest and constructive. Firstly we had a deluxe ocean view room, the room was clean and exactly as the pictures advised- with small kitchen as we only go room only as too many nice places to visit to eat. The hotel itself is clean and well maintained and pools cleaned daily about 7:30am. Yes beds were reserved but you could always get one not matter what time of day. The bar has 2 happy hours per day 12-1pm & 5-6pm which it could get abit busy, with regards to the restaurant we only ate a couple of times on site, as i am a coeliac and everytime I asked what I could have they were unhelpful and not interested so we only had breakfast twice, which is buffet so I coukd have bacon and eggs and took my own bread. Most of the staff are friendly and we found if you said morning to them they would answer, just a couple who were abit rude. Your room has to be vacated at 12 and they offer a shower to use in the toilets by the pool otherwise they charge half the room rate for a late checkout which is abit steep for a couple of hours. My only criticism is the glasses are not collected around the pool area until next day and that our Christmas evening meal was cold but if honest they tried to do too much on the day but apart from that it is a good 3 star hotel so please do not expect Sandals standard and is a good base to get around the island. So the hotel is well worth the money! See you next Christmas.

We have stayed at Butterfly Beach several (six or seven) times over the last few years and they have never failed to provide a wonderful experience. The hotel is maintained very well - in the last two or three years the bathrooms have been updated and our room this time had a large shower. The rooms are roomy and clean and our unit had a kitchenette. The public areas are bright and airy and, of course, there is a tropical theme throughout. They provide ample lounge chairs outside and they are situated on the beach. The restaurant serves a variety of good meals for lunch and dinner and a decent buffet at breakfast. For those guests not on a breakfast plan, the breakfast is a little pricey. There are special meals and/or cocktail hours most evenings. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. Indeed, we have found that most of the people we have encountered in Barbados are helpful and friendly.
We like the location of Butterfly Beach - it's only about a 15 minute drive from the airport and about a 20 minute walk into Oistens. The outdoor "food court" in Oistens is a "must do" experience. There are a few vendors and we like the food and the staff at "Chillin' and Grillin". If you are there on a Friday evening, there are bands playing island music and craftsmen selling their crafts. This is a cultural experience not to be missed!
We also like the prices at Butterfly Beach. We think it's the most "bang for the buck" in Barbados.
As for sights to see if you want a break from the beach, we have enjoyed some of the gardens in Barbados and the caves are very interesting. An island tour is great for the first timer - there are some beautiful spots scattered around the island.

We just returned back from this lovely hotel in beautiful Barbados.
Rooms:
Rooms were spacious and very clean (we found it a very clean country anyway-never came across any litter!). The air con and fans were amazing. We were in a mixed view room and we had a beautiful view of the hotel grounds and beach. The bathroom was big but you do need to bring your own toiletries which wasn't an issue for us.
Food:
Food was nice, breakfast was standard- eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, toast and they did like to add an extra dish that changed daily. Continental breakfast included jams and small pastries however the hot breakfast was a better option for us. Lunch was lovely, loads too choose from. We recommend the chicken pittas, BLT, steak sub. Dinner theme changed daily- curried shrimp was lovely and the steaks on a Thursday were the best! The chocolate brownie was heavenly. Drinks were nicely garnished with fruit, we recommend the pina colada, fruit punch and beach blanket! Overall the food was better than I expected for a hotel that has only one restaurant. Was just lovely, fresh and well presented. Nothing tasted greasy or of low quality.
Staff:
Staff were absolutely amazing! If you are looking to be waited on this is not the hotel for you. However, we didn't want that and they make you feel so comfortable and right at 'home'. Abuna was a pro at making the cocktails. Karen, Lynette, Jennifer, Stacy, Kaleya, Jaden, Deborah and Donna were all amazing to see during our meal times. They are one of the reasons why we ate in everyday besides the food being so good! Deborah at the gift shop was lovely. We booked our cool runnings tour with her and purchased a few souvieners! It was always pleasant to see Rodney, hotel security, during the day as well!
Overall our holiday in Barbados was just amazing. We can not put it into words. The hotel was lovely, situated right on the beach.. a little difficult to get to the beach at times because of the tides but we always managed. Staff made our holiday so special, especially receptionists and the reef restaurant staff. Cool runnings and Oistins fish fry on a Friday is a must! We will definitely be returning next year, hopefully able to stay for a little longer than just a week!

We came on this holiday as i was celebrating my 50th birthday.
Approx 15 minutes from airport which was nice after the long flight.
Polite & helpful staff on reception check in. Room was close to reception, ground floor with a beautiful view of the hot tub area and the beach. Large spacious room with self catering facilities if required. We were on a half board basis so didn’t use but we had cups of tea & they topped up daily. Fridge was handy
Room tidied daily & was always nice & clean. Bed was massive. Hairdryer, iron & ironing board supplied & safe in wardrobe was free of charge. Spacious mirrored wardrobes & balcony was also a good size. Walk in shower was also clean & looked recently updated.
Breakfast was buffet style with the full english options along with some local items. Fruit, juices, bread & pastries also available along with endless tea & coffee. The tap water is fine to drink all island.
Eve meal had choices & we had no complaints. Always hot, fresh & well presented. The eve meal came with a free drink too.
There was always iced water available all day & night. We are not massive drinkers but the local beers were good & the rum punch too.
We always managed to get loungers in various areas with plenty of umbrellas. Towels were provided free for the first time & once changed they were 2 dollars.
The beach was amazing, right by the hotel with lovely white sand & perfect to swim in & to walk along.
Whilst we arrived before the Coronavirus really hit the island with a matter of days it kind of changed our holiday where trips were beginning to get cancelled etc but despite the crisis 5e hotel staff were amazing throughout our stay in particular Deborah who worked in the shop & organised trips, car hire etc. Her vibrant personality & assistance was fantastic. The bar & dining staff were also friendly & happy to chat too despite the obvious situation change which unfortunately cut our holiday short by 2 days as most of the holidaymakers had to vacate the island in time for the hotel closure on 30/3.
There were a lot of people that had returned year after year to this hotel which says a lot. The location is ideal for buses/taxis. Not too much around the hotel to be honest, just a small grocery shop, Chinese restaurant, a bar & a couple of homemade food take away places.
Oistins can be walked to but so easy to get a bus or taxi just outside.
Weather was beautiful, food lovely & met some great people so overall despite it being cut short we had an amazing time at this hotel.

Before we even arrived I had shared numerous emails with Harriet, she was most helpful even before our arrival.
We had 2 rooms booked and on arrival were happy with our rooms.
They were kept clean throughout our stay.
Food was absolutely amazing- we were so impressed with the food here. Bar and restaurant staff were all fabulous. Jennifer, Abunda, John to name a few. Nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel location suited us fine- the buses are so easy to use it made getting to various places extremely easy.
The beach wasn’t great as very small and waves quite rough but again we used the beach elsewhere, I would not recommend this hotel if you have children.
Reception staff whilst polite enough didn’t stand out as fantastic and on occasion a little rude, Ryan was good. It didn’t spoil our trip but just a word of warning as the first impression could be disappointing.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would stay here again for sure. Thanks for having us butterfly beach and making it a 40th celebration to remember

Stayed at this hotel with my wife and three year old daughter. We stayed for 14 nights so this is a good enough time to review the pros and cons.
Rooms - spacious with full amenities available including hairdryer, beach towels $2 charge per tower per change. Cleaning of the rooms was mixed some days great others looked like no one had bothered. We had a good pool view and side sea view. Showers were powerful and good hot water. Kitchen area however limited cutlery/knives.
Pool - nice size pool with lots of sun loungers and umbrellas. No pool service from the restaurant which is missing and would certainly help them with extra tips and also money from drink sales. You can get free tap water from the bar (ask them for a jug with lots of ice) the pool it self could do with a good clean as there are teas of algae. I’d also recommend the hotel consider pressure washing on a daily basis to keep things clean:
Restaurant- small limited menu so if I was half board I’d probably not benefit much. The service is extremely slow and we did feel at times ignored at breakfast. The restaurant need to utilise the supervisors to be the hosts ensuring tables are cleaned quickly, customers are seated and offered drinks. The staff were all friendly but certainly lack enthusiasm and maybe if they were paid more they’d be more forthcoming. The food was good and we didn’t have a terrible meal. Drinks are ok but sizes are small if you are taking a drink round the pool ( price isn’t reflective of this)
Overall this is a great hotel for anyone wanting to visit Barbados and keep the overall price down. We hired a car for 2 weeks which is highly recommend as I didn’t want to be catching buses with a child or with the heat/humidity waiting for buses isn’t my idea of a holiday. With a few tweaks this would be an amazing hotel. Thanks for your hospitality

This is such a beautiful hotel, from the entrance to the decked sun lounging area to the white sandy private beach. Our first time to Barbados and I think we have found our paradise hotel/island. The rooms are lovely, huge bed, essential overhead fan and air con and spacious shower in bathroom that fit a shower stool (that they were able to provide me with) in to enable me to shower safely. Also they allowed me to borrow their wheelchair too for trips out. Thank you especially to Alicia and all the lovely staff on reception for their help, and my birthday bottle of wine 😀

We have just returned from Barbados spending 3 weeks at The Butterfly Beach Hotel. Our room was a deluxe ocean view apartment with self catering facilities. We overlooked the ocean which was literally yards away and you could hear the waves lapping up on the shore. The room was large with a kitchenette area, bathroom and plenty of wardrobe space. In the kitchen there was a two ring electric hob, pots and pans for 3 people, toaster and kettle. In the bathroom there was a large rain shower, modern toilet and sink and hairdryer, the water was always hot. Air conditioning was include. In the room there was a table and chairs as well as plenty of storage space. Out on the balcony which was also spacious there was a table and two chairs plus two comfortable lower chairs. We had the continental breakfast which consisted of fruit juice, cereal, toast, cheese, fresh fruit and pastries, tea and coffee which was perfectly adequate. All the staff worked very hard to keep the hotel clean and tidy. There were plenty of sun beds in different areas and also a small beach area. We had a very enjoyable stay at the Butterfly and would highly recommend it.

We stayed here on our arrival from the UK during our initial quarantine period until our PCR results came through. As a party of five with three teenagers we booked an ocean view room 516 for two nights at a rate of 230 USD per night. The rooms were extremely comfortable the hotel allows for the use of both the restaurant and the swimming pool for quarantine guests. We enjoyed our time here and would consider coming back for a longer period.
Our test results arrived midday following our day of arrival and we checked out of the hotel before 6 o’clock. The hotel reimbursed the cost of the second night and only charged a late check out fee.
The hotel staff were extremely polite and the hotel restaurant has a fairly wide range of food on the menu.

Well have delayed posting as very mixed views and as we have been many times to Barbados and this is probably our last it was a mixed review of both where we stayed and the general changes we have seen on the island.
Firstly the hotel is a 3 star and I would say it is just that no more or no less. We booked a standard room and I then upgraded to a studio deluxe apartment adults only by the lap lane pool and although the room was comfortable, a good size and had the necessary essentials, we stared at a screen that looked like leaves and no view what so ever. The rooms above were noisy and you could hear the road outside. But, if you want special I do agree you would not pay the price we paid, we were overcharged for terrible food at Xmas but a lovely steak on Boxing Day. It all was so random.
That brings me to the main reason I would never recommend or go back. I found the gentlemen behind reception plain rude, unless you were from the island he just didn’t help or offer any info at all. He just looked plain board and couldn’t even say hi how are you, how was your day? The older gentleman security guard had more manners in his little finger. I cannot recommend I would look for alternatives and I would look for a hotel that had better customer service.
The room ok but a terrible outlook the staff 50/50 not great, the food very hit and miss, the pool there was no room and the beach practically non existent, we had to use Sea Breeze, thankfully it was there. A very run down area.
