My partner and I have just returned home from a week’s visit to this amazing hotel, firstly we stayed in a superior pool/ partial sea view top floor room, the room was very clean and bright, had a well equipped kitchen area where we had breakfast most mornings, super king bed, great shower, lovely balcony with large balcony seats. The pool area had plenty of beds and seats, there were two pools an excellent training pool for adults only, 2 decking areas which overlooks the sea and beaches on each side an idyllic setting. The restaurant and the staff were as good as I’ve found in all my years of travelling, the staff could not have been any more helpful we met people who had been staying at this hotel for 15 years and more and returned year after year, we would have no hesitation on recommending this hotel and returning ourselves, it’s not far from the airport or St Lawrence Gap where there are many bars and restaurants as we dined out sometimes there and the hotel.

Our room was very nice and we had everything we needed. Housekeeping were very friendly and accommodating and worked around us when necessary, and the security men doing our temperature checks were fun and we had a laugh with them. Deborah the tour adviser who worked in the hotel shop was very helpful with everything we asked her about. The receptionists were friendly and helpful too. However, at breakfast and some evenings the restaurant staff were frequently slow and miserable. The breakfast was fried and tasty, but it could do with fresh fruits and salad options for those not wanting a greasy breakfast every morning. Holidaymakers always rushed to put their towels on all the sun beds early, and left them on there all day even if they weren't using the beds. There was an A4 faded sign saying that towels would be removed, but they never were. We couldn't use the sun beds unless we got up at 7am to put our towels on them. We were there during the Christmas and New Year period and had absolutely no idea what was happening regarding the entertainment every evening. There was a very small noticeboard away from the restaurant mentioning a few activities, for instance a Christmas meal, but in general, aside from one small A4 perched on the bar occasionally, we weren't aware what was happening until we stumbled upon it when we returned from our days out. The entertainment we did manage to see was very good, but as I mentioned in the last paragraph, we were very lucky to see it because we hadn't known about it until we decided to pop to the bar. One final thing, once the entertainment finished, the bar and restaurant went silent. A couple of times I asked if they could put music on, but for some reason they prefer silence so everyone drifts off early to bed, and I'm talking around 9pm - curfew was at midnight!

I stayed here for two nights over the New Year’s holiday. I have mixed feelings about my stay, and had it not been for a young woman going out of her way at breakfast on my last morning, I would have given three stars instead of four. First the positives – the location is fantastic - right on the beach. It’s a beautiful setting with waves crashing against the deck and there is a nice sandy beach with swimming from either side of the hotel. The grounds are very nice, and I never had trouble finding a lounge chair. If you want to take a lounger onto the beach you can. The open-air restaurant is oceanside as well with fantastic views of the blue water. It’s a quaint hotel on the smaller side and safe. No screaming kids or hoards of people either. It was very peaceful. The rooms are simple but very clean. Comfortable bed, pillows and soft sheets. I really slept well. Nice balcony off of my room had two types of chairs and a little table. Nice view of the water, beach and palm trees. Now for the negatives – half the staff was surly. Half the staff was really nice. Front desk staff were helpful and the lady who runs the gift shop was a gem. The security guards were really friendly especially Jaquie. The rude employees were in the restaurant and bar. Despite the fact I was tipping, I got some surly responses and a lot of attitude. I am a single guy and was there by myself. Wondered if this was homophobia (Barbados criminalizes gay people) but a couple of people I spoke to who had stayed there before or were currently on a longer stay commented on the nastiness of the restaurant workers. There were a few who were nice and friendly but in general it was unpleasant. There is no chair service and each time I went to the bar I felt like they were being bothered. I asked what kind of rum was used in a Mai Tai and got a smart-ass response. For $7 U.S. it was small and week so avoid the cocktails. Several beer selections for only $2 U.S. a bottle, so, I stuck to beer. The food was so-so. Nothing outstanding and rather boring for a Caribbean menu. Someone who was staying for a few weeks told me to walk down to some of the other resorts for better food and service. Oistins fish market had stalls with some local fare. Everyone was wearing a mask when not seated so good COVID precautions. All employees were masked. The bottom line for a review in my opinion is would I return or recommend a friend to stay here? I would probably stay somewhere else.

I have just returned from a weeks stay at The Butterfly Beach Hotel and was really impressed with the room size and bathroom size. We were in 107 so we had the pool view which I would definitely recommend. When we arrived the toilet flusher wasnt working, this got sorted straight away. The staff was very efficient . The maids were also really lovely. We ate here a couple of times wouldn't say the food was great we went out most times - was in a good location only a 10-15min taxi ride to the gap. The pool is was lovely and warm and had nice loungers looking out over the sea. Would definitely stay again!

Thank you for a good night. The restaurant was clean, the staff was pleasant and attentive. The meal was tasty and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Will definitely return in time for the hotel experience. The restaurant gets an A+ in my books.
