We are located on the South Coast of Barbados in an ocean front setting with access to two white-sand beaches, and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Refurbished in June 2009, we are an excellent hotel for those looking for a self-catering but full-service property near to all the amenities the island has to offer...

we stayed early March 4nights pre cruise 3 nights . post cruise . Location was away from main amenities so this meant using taxis (mainly) and public transport other than that it was located on beach (no sun beds you had to take hotels) Reception and maintenance staff were very helpful but restaurant and bar staff were very disinterested with very little interaction ( maybe more training needed it is hospitality after all) Food was average so ate out most nights 3 star hotel so expect 3 star or less service

Stayed at the Butterfly for 2 weeks half board. Positives: All the cleaning ladies, and maintenance/security guys were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Location was fabulous! The beach is always accessible (on one side if its high tide there is a narrow alley to walk down). Negatives: On our 1st day I went to reception 3 times (over the course of 3 hours) to ask for our beach towels, nope none available! In the end we got them at 5pm! So that was a full day unable to go to the beach, or swim. The receptionist was downright ignorant (the other one was absolutely lovely). Restaurant service was erratic at best! Our drinks arrived during the pudding course (including the water!), in the end having watched our wine sitting on the bar for ages, I got up and got it myself, the waitress apologised for the huge delays in service but nothing changed (I ordered one dish, and 20 minutes later she came to tell us they'd run out!) Again, some of the waitresses were pleasant, but the younger ones really didn't care at all. On our final night a school party arrived to stay. The teens were all polite, but I don't expect to be woken at 7am by constant door banging, and running up and down the corridor! At breakfast the restaurant manager went to some tables to explain why they were there and to bear with the staff, sadly we only overheard this because we weren't in the "click" of the chosen few (repeat visitors who definitely got preferential treatment). I would recommend Barbados, but not this hotel.

Hotel was very clean and staff friendly. Meals varied daily. They were basic, nothing fancy. To lounge on the beach you will have to go elsewhere as the water comes up to the rocks. Low tide we could walk the beach. We were on the 4th floor and the elevator was broken the entire time we were there. Loungers are difficult to get unless you are up by 6:30am.

Stayed at the Butterfly Hotel for 4 days prior to a week's cruise and for 3 days after our cruise in early March 2023. The hotel looking tired but no complaints on the cleanliness. Budget hotel so don't expect any luxuries e.g. shower gel, shampoo etc. The reception staff were very helpful but the bar staff and waiting on staff left a lot to be desired. They were so miserable, there was no interaction with them at all. Food was mediocre, lukewarm food, so ate out most nights. Unfortunately the hotel was a bit too far out from the main area where all the bars and restaurants restaurants are located.

This was maybe our 6th stay at Butterfly Beach. It’s a decent 3 star hotel with a lovely position by the sea. Rooms are spacious and there are a number of different types. We were room only but they do offer some form of meal plan. Happy hour is very popular with a good selection of drinks on offer. We did notice that the cocktails that used to be on offer , no longer are. As with many hotels, there just aren’t enough sunbeds and unless you got up early , you won’t get one when it’s busy there. We saw many people wandering around mid morning trying to find somewhere to sit. There are a few on the grassed area but I’m sure they could fit more on if they wanted to. There’s just a nice feel about this place. It’s unpretentious but friendly and welcoming and we would happily return should we get to visit the island again.

Lovely little hotel and ideal for a 1 night stay ahead of a cruise. Not sure I would be happy to be here for a week, as its a bit down market around the hotel. We walked to Oistins for the fish fry which isn't far and also caught the local US$2 buses up and down the road. Room was large and comfortable with a well equipped kitchenette. A large walk in shower but only soap provided - no shampoo, conditioner and body wash, so bring your own. Two pools of good size, and three Jacuzzis and plenty of room to sit on loungers. Great views. The sea comes right up to the rocks at the edge of the restaurant so no beach to sit on - but you can walk out at low tide. We didn't eat at the restaurant but the food looked OK but plain - we enjoyed very nice happy hour cocktails. The staff at reception were lovely and super helpful. There is a small shop that had a small but quality range of dresses and swim wear, with a really friendly lady who was happy for us to take clothes to our hotel to try on. Overall good value for money and a comfortable stopover.

Stayed for 5 nights at start March. The hotel is well appointed on the beach with lovely views. Lovely breakfast spot over the road and Oistins Fish Fry a short walk away but other than that always needed buses or taxi to get around The rooms are big but dated and a bit tired looking. The cleaner comes in daily but it's a very basic clean in my eyes. The reception staff were so lovely and helpful throughoutour stay in particular Trina (i think i have the right name) The bar staff were okay, although you often felt they were talking about you to each other. They only really made an effort with returning guests- loads of returning guests. Only ate at the restaurant for Bajan night, it was tasty and they had the dishes we'd been wanting to try. We were the youngest staying there and are I'm our 30s and 40, and older returning guest hotel

We stayed for one night at this hotel in transit. It’s right on the beach and has a nice pool area. The restaurant is ok, it’s location makes up for an average menu and decor. The room was basic but had a nice kitchenette in it that would have been very useful if we’d had a longer stay. The front desk staff were really friendly and helpful.

We had a fantastic time here the rooms are large and well appointed. The staff are really kind especially the Manager Amanda, who went out of her way to help us. The hotel has a wheelchair that you can borrow if like me you have mobility issues. Barbados is not disability friendly the pavements are very uneven and end suddenly. The Bajans are very friendly and always happy to help me on and off busses.
