We came to Maresol with a family of 4, and were trying a different type of holiday on the island. We found that overall the condo was clan, the correct beds were provided, and the security on the property was very good.

Location

The apartments are based down by St. Lawrence's Gap which is really convenient for getting to bars and local eateries, and far enough away that there is not excessive noise through the night. The rear access to the property (keypad locked) leads directly out onto Dover Beach, which is great for walks, and gets some good waves for surfing. There are sunbeds available just by the gate access that can be taken out an used on the beach which is very helpful.

Grounds

The gardens at the property are beautiful and well kept, and the grounds are attended by landscapers periodically through the year. The seating area provided can have additional sunbeds added to catch the sun, and faces out onto the sea that comes all the way to the wall for a beautiful view throughout the day. There is a small deck beside the seating area, and our kids enjoyed playing on it and watching the crabs. However, some might not be as confident about playing on it as it can be a little spongy.

Rooms

The rooms are traditional and came with a single wardrobe and a large bed (felt like king size) plus you can have additional beds added for a fee. The bedrooms have a sink in them, and then an en-suite with toilet and shower. The main rooms are large, and contain sofas and armchairs, coffee tables, and ceiling fans. The kitchens are large enough (a wide galley kitchen) and are fitted with all the usual white goods. In our condo we had a further section off the main room that was like a sun room/balcony which had a large panoramic window that looked out over the sea.

Security

The security at the property are always on duty at the office by the car park entrance, and greeted us on entry and exit. Beyond them, all access to the condo areas are blocked by security gates with a key-padded lock i.e. you need to know the code to open the gate. The condo itself was provided with security grilles on both the front and rear access to the condo, and there were fly screens on all windows and doors. Further to this there was a pulldown security shutter on the front door that provided even more security. Some might see it as overkill but for us it was reassuring as you know there's no chance of anyone getting in. Each condo is also provided with a safe within the room. We found that there was a really safe and secure feel around the grounds and it meant that you felt open to speak to others that you do see as you know they are doing a similar thing to you.

Overall we enjoyed the break here, and would recommend it for the location and simple effective setup.

Our apartment’s location, management, and condition were excellent! We stayed in Barbados for a week and how awesome to be right on the water! The apartments have all you need and are very comfortable with Gail and Tracy, who were friendly and always accommodating. We went to them for advice about what to see and do around the island and were very happy with their recommendations. Plus, they were ready to coordinate and make reservations without us having to ask. In fact all the staff had a ready smile and were easy to talk to. We couldn’t have asked for a better combination of location, affordability, support, and welcoming staff for our stay in Barbados!

After 20 years of going to Barbados, it was our first time at the Maresol and I honestly won't need to stay anywhere else. the pricing is very fair, the staff are amazing and all very friendly and helpful. There is an apartment for every budget and size of group. The location is perfect. The kitchen is nicely equipped and has all you need. It's located on the quiet end of the Gap so you can get away from the party when you want. You can select from ocean front to private garden. nice and secure gated property within easy walking distance to great food, drink and music. so sorry they could accommodate our Wedding guests 10 years ago because we would have been staying there this whole time. Glad we have a new home.

We just spent 11 nights at Maresol and it was amazing! The rooms are clean and spacious with everything you need. Dover beach is just steps outside your door and is a beautiful beach. Swam with the sea turtles and enjoyed food and drinks walking down the gap. We have already booked again for next year.

It's hard to believe this little gem is hidden. We found it by accident last Feb and immediately booked for Dec 2023. The whole experience was great. Apartments well maintained and clean. Very secure. Staff were amazing. They are some of the most friendly people on the island. Ocean was 15 steps away. Views great from all apartments. Check it out. You will enjoy.

My family stayed at Marisol last week and we had a fantastic time. The access to Dover beach is perfect, right out the side gate. Having beach chairs available to take to the beach was fantastic to. Barbados may be the friendliest county I’ve ever been to. Thanks so much to Tracy in management for helping us in so many ways and making our stay there better.

The photos on Maresol website don't do it justice. I had a huge one bedroom over looking the ocean, while located in a beautiful garden, with a terrasse half the size of the living room.
I was amazed at how clean the entire apartment was, compared to some locations in the French Caribbean.
The Maresol apartments have plenty of closet space and commodes in the bathroom, hallway and bedroom. I could easily have lived there six months.
Audrey and her staff are very friendly.

I had come to Barbados to rest after two very stressful years, and I left quite relaxed, thanks to Maresol Beach.

The only thing: The Maresol is loosing its beach. Five coconut trees fell due to high tide taking a big chunk of sand with them, but you still have white sandy Dover Beach a few steps away.

I will gladly stay at Maresol beach again. It's a good value for your money right now.

We recently returned from Barbados after spending two weeks there in Jul/Aug 05 for a small Family Reunion. We stayed at Maresol Beach Apts located in St. Lawrence Gap and everyone was quite pleased with their accommodation. After staying at hotels around the world, maresol was the best idea for the occasion. We didn't have to worry about walking down long hallways to the elevators around the corner. Maresol offerred affordability, US $625 per week for a beach front two bed room apartment. Each apt vary in price depending on size, sea view or garden view. I especially enjoyed listening to the waves clapping late at night and early in the morning. The early bird swim (as I call it) was much fun inspite of some rain. The apartment was clean and fully equipped with the much needed amenities. The staff was friendly and was there when you needed something. Restaurants lined St Lawrence Gap, so you don't have to worry about finding some good food, and they are all in walking distance, well, if you don't mind walking. Gift shops next door, across the street and down the street. Don't worry, public transportation is just a few blocks away in walking distance, so you can just hop aboard for a ride to the city or to the popular Oistins Fish Market. Maresol got an "A" in my book. Like everywhere else, exercise common sense when travelling.

Maresol is that rare place on the South Cost - apartments and houses with a sense of tranquility and space. No high density accomodation here- instead a lovely garden complex with breathtaking views of the sea, the beach and the sunsets. Not for those wanting luxury but our apartment was perfect- simple and clean with a good kitchen, large bathroom, brilliant air conditioning in the bedroom and a shaded balcony for the balmy days. Another visitor here was on her 58th visit to Barbados and she chooses Maresol every time! We will return without hesitation.

Have been to Barbados 30+ times. 2nd time to stay at Maresol but this was a different apartment. We stayed in Featherbed Lane this time which is the upper floor. We felt very safe in the apartment, but we felt there was a privacy issue with the back door. There was no curtain and anyone could look in if they came up the back stairs. The safe was locked open so completely useless. Only other safe was at the office which is a little hut just off the road. This is only open between approx 8.30 - 4.30 is not an option.
We were burgled on our 3rd night there. All my electrical items were taken, my sister and her grandchildren also had items stolen. We couldn't figure out how anyone could break in until we were shown - easy if you stood on the handrail leading to the apartment and leaned over to the window. Police were called that night.
Next morning we spoke to management about the burglary. Can you imagine our shock when we discovered that the "Warning security cameras in operation" all over the property were only for show? Obviously the burglars knew that the cameras didn't exist but nobody in management thought to tell us.
We felt duped, lied to and hung out to dry. We left the apartment when another policeman visited us and advised us that the property was dangerous and we were not safe.
We got absolutely no redress from the owner who skimped on the security. I wrote to him twice and he ignored me both times. Hindsight is a great thing so I suggest that nobody stays in this apartment if you want to be safe.
