If we three had pushed the boat out and spent the £75 asking price for the night (that would not get anyone far in my home town of London!) we would have been well pleased. Unfortunately we are economising and stretching our money over our three weeks in Morocco. We had had heard from our current lodging manager that this...

Can't really disagree with any of the recent reviews but goodness, the place IS both beautiful and evocative. I like a place with faded grandeur (I call it atmosphere) and the decorations in the public places are wonderful ... the rooms perfectly clean and the atmosphere like something from history. Built into the illuminated walls of Taroudant, the whole place...

The hotel is very well located adjacent to one of Taroudant's two public squares. These are great places for visitors to get a real feel for how locals spend their leisure time in the evening. One of the great gates into the town is also adjacent to the hotel: a photographer's paradise for capturing the variety of transport which passes...

The Palais Salam once was a grand retreat and refuge for travellers. There are various levels with courtyards, patios and a couple of swimming pools. The rooms are each unique, sizes varying with different amenities. The property has obviously on leaner times as maintenance is suffering. Broken light fixtures, missing light bulbs, shortage or lack of hot water and only...

The location is excellent, and the hotel has obviously been very good in the past. However, there has been little or no maintenance for some years. The pools are scummy, the tiles (including table tops) are filthy, there is no hot water in the rooms, and paint is flaking everywhere. Magnificent light fittings are either full of dead flies or covered...

I have stayed here half a dozen times over the past 20 years and stayed in regular rooms and suites, and I still love this grand hotel, although clearly it has been mismanaged to the point that striking workers who have not been paid for months greet you outside at the street entrance. This owner or management situation is unfortunate...

I spent 1 night in this hotel in may 2016. Good bed and room was clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly. But the hotel garden was magical and I wish I could have spent some more days there and enjoying the stay by the pool in this calm and beautiful garden

The entrance to this former Pasha's palace was beset with placards and posters set there by discontented staff . This did not augur well for our visit ! We went there to use the swimming pools. Indeed we enjoyed the pools, and the gardens were lovely. But there was a definite air of 'neglect' . Very few people were there...

We stayed in a suite like room with separate tea corner and nice balcony overlooking the pool. The hotel is a little outdated but nicely situated. Obiously, there are tensions between the owner and some former workers, who protested every morning infront of t the hotel for better pay and claimed outstanding pension payments. Service inside was helpful and appropriate,...

Faded glory it may be, but the style and atmosphere of the place are enough to make you forgive the luke warm shower and the signs of wear and tear. Stayed in a wonderful room and staff were very helpful. Really wanted to stay longer in this haven on the edge of the medina.
