The Dar al hossoun is a beautifully designed hotel and the outstanding natural beauty of the gardens is something that needs to be experienced . There is something interesting to be seen around every corner, from the sunken gardens to the bohemian interiors . Tastefully decorated throughout with amazing attention to detail - a real photographers dream and a great... More

Dar al Hossoun was the idyllic place to rest for two nights after crossing the Atlas. Our host Ollivier was always present and very kind and professional, as well as the rest of the staff. The food was gorgeous, the room beautifully decorated, the gardens a paradise. We cannot recommend this place enough. Make no mistake, you will not regret... More

Regretfully we only spent one night at this beautiful oasis. The host, Olivier, was reserved but charming and we felt very welcome. He showed us around his garden with well deserved pride. The magnificent greenery and peacocks wandering outside our door made this a magical retreat. Regretfully a stomach bug prevented my full enjoyment of the dinner prepared for us,... More

We only had dinner here. We cannot tell about the hotel. Set in a beautiful green shrine at the outskirts of Taroudannt, the garden lodge surrounds a magnificent garden rich with various sorts of cacti, trees and flowers, and warded by three beautiful peacocks. Our dinner was fine, though a little expensive compared to what we had experienced in Taroudannt... More

We spent a fantastic week at Dar al Hossoun. This is an idyllic place. The gardens are stunning and incredibly peaceful, with peacocks and tortoises wandering freely. The weather (in late April) was perfect: 25 degrees + and sunny by day, and pleasantly fresh in the evenings. The staff were extremely welcoming and courteous. Meals were fresh and varied, and... Whilst the accommodation was very good and the gardens attractive, the food was poor, particularly the breakfast. The Moroccan staff were excellent but the French were rude and inhospitable. We arrived late from Casablanca and obviously in the middle of a private dinner party the owners were having. We were certainly not made to feel welcome and the dinner served... More

Dear Ms. Smith, I read your review about your short stay with us, on March, 27, a few days ago and, to be honest, I still wonder if your harsh review is about Dar al Hossoun or if you got mixed up with another place you visited... You arrived quite late after a full day of travelling from Japan and... More

The hotel was the base for our group of Mediterranean garden enthusiasts to visit Taroudant's gardens and wild areas. The gardens are beautiful, both day and night. The sunken garden is an inspiration. Although the climate is quite fresh at this time of year, one can imagine the more open-air appeal in the hotter seasons. The hotel's owner and staff... More

Rooms are spread around a sensational garden designed by Eric Ossert and Arnaud Maurieres which they have crammed full of over 900 different plants to make this a special place for plantaholics. Olivier, the owner with his attentive and wonderfully smiley staff (especially Mehmet) looked after our party so well. Although it was chilly in the evenings, fires were laid... More

My five-day experience confirmed many of the previous five-star reported observations. Ollivier and his colleagues and staff were effective and congenial in all respects; all food was delicious; service was friendly and attentive; the garden was extraordinary; and my suite as well as the public rooms were distinctive and stylish.

This sprawling lodge is a destination around which it is worth planning one’s whole itinerary, two nights minimum. It is probably also the best place from which to connect to other offerings in the area of Taroudant, nearly all of which remain off the pages of tourist guides. The extensive grounds offer so many rare plants from Africa and the... More
