This is for Italians and they get preferential treatment to foreigners. We were a group of 12 (3 x rooms of 5, 4 and 3 people), our rooms were never serviced and we had to make our own beds on arrival, we had to pay for our towels to be cleaned and we never got clean sheets over a period of 10 days. Italian's staying there had there rooms serviced every day! We were under the impression hotel was on the beach, but it is not, you have to walk through the adjoining properties to get to the beach. To get to their section of the beach is about a 15min /20 (kids) via the beach walk and is quicker going via the road 10/15 min to get to their 'club' - the picture above is the pool at the clubnot the hotel. Our group had 3 rooms which entitled us to 3 pairs of chairs on the beach (despite being 12 people). They have a shuttle service between hotel and club but when we were there they had a small 4wd which they'd cram 6 people (inc driver) into, later in our stay they hired a mini bus. The pictures you see online of the pool is the water slide is the club which as mentioned is not connected to the hotel. There is a pool at the accommodation but they have a ridiculous rule of everyone having to wear a swimming cap, which I think is just a way of extracting another $2Euro out of each person, you have to wear this cap at the "club' pool & water slide as well. On a plus the best service is the 'entertainers' for the kids who'll engage them in games at the beach and the club pool they are very nice and put on a show at nights for the kids. This service is offered at all the other 'clubs surrounding the hotel. Adjoining the property is another hotel club and the music (very cheesy/hokey tunes) which start (LOUDLY) at 9 am until 1pm, 4pm to 7pm, 9pm to midnight which has their entertainers getting guests up and dancing. My 75 yr old father in law was in a room overlooking the outdoor disco and obviously was disruptive. Our room (for 5) consisted of 3 rooms - living room with pull out couch/double bed (very uncomfortable - wooden slats with a wafer thin mattress), 1 bedroom with double bed - mattress OK at best but luxury compared to pull out couch, and a small room with bunk beds. It hasa fridge and air conditioning but is so old is ineffective (old cassette style). The bathroom is tiny with a shower next to toilet with sower curtain so whole room gets soaked. The other 2 rooms in our group (above reception overlooking pool) were the same except without bunkroom, their a/c was better as it had more modern split systems. In the living room with pull out bed is very basic kitchenette with a gas cooktop (the electricity is not connected to cooker so there is no ignition and they don't supply matches so had to buy ourselves! The place is poorly managed (from an Australian perspective) apparently Italians are happy with it judging from other reviews. They have no follow up - e.g. they offered to assist with organisng a Grotto tour but after 24 hours and repeated requests we gave up and organised ourselves - (please note we had 2 people who spoke Italian in our group so language was no barrier), If you are going to Italy bring a plug for the kitchen sink as only 1 out of the 3 places we stayed at over a 4 week period supplied a plug to do the washing up. And if you are from Oz bring tropical strength Rid as it will scare off the mozzies. Positives foe the place it is close to the village with supermarkets and directly oppostie the hotel is a fruit and veg van and a caravan with exceptionally good cheese and prosciutto etc The club has a restaurant and food smells nice but we didn't eat there on principle as we were so disappointed at the hotel and the work ethic of the owners and driver. In a nutshell I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone - ironically the place next door, with outside disco, looked better if you can cope with hokey music for half the day/night. On Italy, for those who haven't been before be very wary on recommendations of your hosts/tour guides etc as they are more than likely sending you to a relative or someone who is giving them a kick back. Non Italians are 'milked' for what they are worth with little regard for customer service.
